Secluded property located atop a hill in the woods, just 1/2 mile from Ogunquit or Footbridge Beaches, and a few minutes walk from downtown Ogunquit. It is large, spacious, recently renovated, with a full kitchen downstairs and kitchenette (refrigerator, oven/stovetop, microwave, sink) upstairs, a full laundry room, 2 living areas and 2 dining rooms, making it easy to accommodate 2 or 3 families. The driveway is large with ample parking for 3 cars. There are 3 bedrooms with queen beds (2 downstairs, 1 upstairs) and 2 rooms with bunks (1 room with 4 twin bunks upstairs, and 1 with a full/twin bunk downstairs), so the property will comfortably sleep 12 or 13 depending on ages of children. There are floor fans in all of the rooms and ceiling fans in non-bunk bedrooms and upstairs main room. Sheets and towels may be supplied by renters or by owners, the latter at slightly additional cost for laundering. There is a good cable package with movies, DVR, and free WiFi, and HDTVs and DVD players in upstairs and downstairs main areas. There are also televisions in all downstairs bedrooms. Downstairs has iPhone charger and dock for iPhone 4 or 5, as well as a full stereo system including turntable and tape deck. Windows are screened and equipped with wood blinds to control airflow and heat/sun. There are outdoor furnished decks off of both down and upstairs living rooms. An outdoor shower makes cleaning up after beachtime convenient. The home is on well water (which is actually delicious) and septic. There is also twice-weekly trash/recycling pick up.

About Halina Gray
I am an adult and geriatric community psychiatrist practicing in Dallas, TX, and I am married to a VA geriatric neuropsychiatrist. We have 2 children, a daughter 18 attending BU as a premed/music major, and a son, 16, who online schools and mostly plays tennis with hopes to win the French Open someday. I have two younger sisters to whom the home is also entrusted. My middle sister and her son, 6, and daughter, 3, live in Boston, MA. She teaches in Boston Public Schools and has her hands very full with the kids and work. My younger sister lives with her 2 daughters aged 13 and 10 in Coral Gables, FL. She is a teacher in the English Dept (Comparative Lit) at FIU, and is also juggling a lot with work and kids. It's no easy task trying to get our families together each summer, but having this house has really helped make it happen. My sisters and I are lucky to be very close- as family, and as friends, which makes a big difference in how we coexist, in and out of the Ogunquit home. We all hope that someday our children will share a similar closeness-and know that the home is one way to ensure this.
Halina Gray purchased this House in 1994
Why Halina Gray chose Ogunquit
My sisters and I have this house in trust for all of us and our families for years to come. Our mother asked that we never sell the property, and we were happy to abide by her wishes. She (of Peruvian descent) and our father (of Polish descent and French upbringing) were married for 33 years before he died of Alzheimer's disease in 2005. Her death from cancer followed just a few years later. They were both professors of language and literature at the University of Maine in Orono, and my mother was a published author of Latin American fiction. (Hence the home is full of bookcases and books!) We used to vacation in Florida every summer until one of my friends in HS introduced me to Ogunquit. My parents came for a visit and never looked back- they built this home as their retirement home in the mid 1990s, having fallen in love with the beach and the town. In 2011, we remodeled and renovated the property using a fantastic local builder. The home not only still houses a lot of books, but also photographs of my parents, their families, and us, as well as furniture, artifacts and crafts from Peru. We love keeping our parents' memories alive in the house, while sharing it with others who we hope will enjoy its cozy, ethnic, academic feeling as much as we do.
What makes this House unique
The home is relatively new, and has a lot of space and amenities to accommodate larger groups, making it more economical for families vacationing together. The relative privacy and independence of the up and downstairs areas make it possible to get 'respite' from one another, but the spaciousness of both locations makes it easy to all be together on either floor. The location is prime- it's off the beaten path so you can enjoy your peace and quiet, but is very close to the hustle and bustle of downtown and beach. Because our family loves this home so much, it's hard to imagine how others couldn't, but we would like to do as much as possible to make it comfortable for families staying there. As stated above, this is a real family home, inhabited by us at least a few weeks a year and sometimes on special holidays- we hope that the warmth of our family is palpable to renters who come there. We've always loved having friends visit us in Ogunquit because it truly is our home away from home, and we want as many people to enjoy the town, the townspeople, and the home as we do. Hopefully our pictures of the property tell the rest of the story.

Spacious and Inviting
Walking distance to town and beaches so very convenient. The house has a warm feeling not the sterile feel other rentals have. The dual kitchens came in very handy as did the separate living areas. When the adults wanted to wind down, we sent the kids off to the other living area. Will definitely be back!
We are always thrilled to have renters like you!
So glad you enjoyed our home!
Awesome Long Weekend
We had the best time at this house, myself and 11 other girls went up for Labor Day Weekend and it was perfect. There was plenty of space to sleep and there with 4 bathrooms everyone was able to get ready easily. The house is tucked away from the main streets so you have a lot of privacy but it is a great central location to everything. We had about a 5 minute drive to the beach, dinner and downtown. It rained all Sunday but we had lots of room for activities! Plenty of cooking space, since there is a main kitchen downstairs and a small one up stairs, then we were all able to eat together at their huge, beautiful kitchen table. Halina was a great host, very helpful and quick to respond. I can not give this house and host enough praise, it was just a great weekend and a great house!
Great house, awesome host, memorable experience!
We were extremely happy with the house and Halina was an excellent host. The house is very spacious with an open space layout. The living room is very cozy and the kitchen and dining area provide plenty of room for even a slightly larger company. All the rooms are very well appointed and they have plenty of character as well. There is a large study off one of the bedrooms that is amazing. We didn't get to use the deck much as it was cold out but I imagine it's really nice in the summer. There is also a second smaller kitchen on the second floor which is very useful if you are traveling with kids. Both kitchens were nicely stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. The surrounding area is very nice as well. The house is tucked away in a quiet wooded area and at the same time it's within walking distance of many restaurants, stores, and the town center.
Halina was very accommodating and easy to work with. There was a small issue one of the nights that was totally out of her control but she responded quickly and we got it resolved in a matter of minutes. I am very happy with how she handled everything. I highly recommend this house and I will be telling my friends and family about it too.
So glad to read all these wonderful things about the home that we so love!

Lovely Long Weekend in Ogunquit
We had such a great time at this lovely home on a hill in Ogunquit. It was spacious and had all the amenities; a well appointed kitchen, lounging spaces to more than accommodate 9 adults, and even a whole separate kitchenette upstairs. It was clean and cozy. It was a quick walk to and from town but was also tucked away in the perfect autumnal scene. We all agreed, the pictures do not do it justice.
We are so glad you enjoyed your weekend there and that you found the accommodations to your liking . Thank you so very much for submitting a review!
Property is in a hidden cul de sac off of Route 1 just up the hill from a gas station, tucked into the woods. From this quiet, off-road setting you can walk a few minutes and be in the middle of a bustling resort town with plenty of restaurants, markets, bakeries, bars and shops to enjoy; or be at beautiful Ogunquit Beach. There is a trolley stop at the bottom of the hill from the property, which makes travel easier if you are lugging kids and toys. But the walk to and from the beach is fun and great exercise. See listing of some of our favorite nearby attractions for a nice started to-do list.
