Nice house on the lake - with boat dock
It was a very nice house - a little older so it creeks . But nothing that bothered us- it was well equipped with everything you might need - NICE BBQ with propane - enough room for 10 of us but sleeps 12. 2 paddle boards, canoe, hot tub, and 2 bikes - (Adult bikes) we brought the kids bike - but street was too busy for them to ride .
If you are traveling with infants bring your own baby items. (Bed, high chair etc. Also we brought a couple small fans for it does get hot in the afternoon - but a great breeze in the evening . My family all enjoyed ourselves very much . We will book again. Thank you
Perfect for us!
My husband, daughters (6yr & 8yr), and I enjoyed our stay here. The house met all our needs. We would stay again. Thank you Gertraude for sharing your home!
Large and comfortable house, right on the water with great views and a hot tub. Perfect for a large family or multiple families.
Family holiday in the keys
We enjoyed a great stay in the keys! We had 4 adults and 5 children and loved the layout of the home. The pool table and board games were great to keep the kids occupied and we enjoyed the hot tub every chance we had! The kitchen was well equipped, we made most of our meals here and found everything we needed.
We used the canoe and paddleboards for a nice sunset paddle put to the lake. One of the paddleboards has a hole in it and takes on water so look out for that.
While we loved the location the house is old and creaky, the temperature in the lower bedrooms vary and the house could use a good cleaning. There were a lot of cobwebs and dust. It was questionable if all of the bedding was freshly washed. However, we didn't let any of that takeaway from our overall experience, which was very good.
Family Get Together
We rented the cabin for a family gathering. The owner was a pleasure to communicate with and quick to reply. We liked the layout of the cabin and the location was ideal. The cabin itself is older so when you're on the first floor, you can hear everyone walking around on the second floor. The first floor gets pretty cold at night and in the morning, however, there were plenty of blankets. The kitchen has older appliances, however, it's stocked very well with dishes and appliances. We BBQ'd one night and there was plenty of propane available. The garage was stocked with bikes and paddle boards and things to do. The hot tub was in great condition and was used during the whole stay. The cabin had plenty of room to accommodate our family and the bathrooms had large soaker tubs and great water pressure. Really the only issue was there were alot of spiderwebs and spiders both inside and outside the cabin. We informed the owner so she knew to have that taken care of. Overall it was an enjoyable stay for our family!!
Thank you for your feed back, I appreciate it. Sorry about the cold nights, you should have turned the heater on, it works really well.
This large waterfront chalet style, mortise and tenon home in the Tahoe Keys has a pool table and it's own private hot tub on the lower deck. With it's own private boat dock, water access is as easy as walking out the back door. Stand up paddle board and kayak rentals are available nearby. Just drop in from your boat dock and paddle through the keys and out to the lake. Our kids regularly fish right off the boat dock.
The house is about ½ mile away from The Wilderness Bike Trail head. Bike rentals are available there. It's a great ride through the forest to Camp Richardson, where you can stop for some of the best ice cream around, get lunch, or have a day at the beach. Just passed Camp Richardson is the Taylor Creek Preserve. There they have guided nature hikes through some of the most beautiful untouched areas of South Lake Tahoe. As an added bonus, there's also Stream Cutout Profile Chamber where you can observe the local underwater wildlife in their habitat.
Tahoe Keys Property Owner's Association amenities include the use of 7 tennis courts, 2 pools and 2 hot tubs (indoor and outdoor).

What makes this House unique
This home was built by hand by the owners. Every beam was cut by the owner in SoCal, numbered (some numbers are still visible), and transported to Lake Tahoe by truck. Once there, the home was assembled on site. Once the home was complete, the owner began making all of the furniture and cabinetry. Some of the original furniture has been replaced, but we as a family have done our best to preserve the original furniture as Opa would have wanted.
