Willow Ridge Hideaway Fully Renovated Log Cabin · 10 Min to Boone · Hot Tub
Willow Ridge Hideaway is a fully renovated log cabin in Willow Creek Estates, ten minutes from downtown Boone. New kitchen, four redone bathrooms, a brand-new hot tub, a stone fire pit and a gas grill. It sleeps 10, welcomes dogs, and sits about as centrally as a High Country cabin can.
Renovated Throughout - the kitchen is new, with 2025 LG appliances (refrigerator, gas range, microwave, dishwasher), quartz counters, subway tile and a large island with seating. All four bathrooms have been redone with new vanities, tile and fixtures, including two glass walk-in showers with rainfall heads and, in the main-level en-suite, heated tile floors and a heated towel rack. The hot tub went in new in 2026, the stone fire pit is new, and the paint is fresh throughout. A full-size LG washer and dryer, a gas grill and two propane patio heaters round it out.
A Central Base - downtown Boone and Appalachian State are about ten minutes away. So are Banner Elk and Valle Crucis, home of the original Mast General Store. Blowing Rock is about twenty minutes, and Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain ski resorts about twenty-five. The Willow Valley Executive Par 3 golf course is directly across the street, open to the public with walk-ins accepted. A car is recommended and free parking is available on site.
The Cabin - three finished levels, 2,229 square feet, 3.5 bathrooms and two en-suite bedrooms, under vaulted pine ceilings with a stacked stone fireplace.
Main level: the new kitchen opens into the living and dining areas, with a bedroom and a fully renovated en-suite bath. A powder room and the laundry closet sit off the hallway.
Upper level: a second bedroom under a vaulted ceiling with a leather loveseat and a renovated en-suite bath, plus an adjoining loft with a sofa and a desk.
Lower level: a game room with air hockey, foosball, a cabinet dartboard, a game console, board games, a built-in bunk nook sleeping three, a sectional sofa and a full bathroom. Its own mini-split, and a door straight out to the hot tub.
The Setting - the cabin sits back on a sloping, wooded lot with real privacy on all sides. This is a forest setting rather than a long-range view — deep green shade in summer, real color in October, and quiet enough at night that you will hear the trees.
The Outdoors - the hot tub sits on the covered lower patio, sheltered from rain and snow, with Adirondack chairs and a propane heater alongside. Up on the deck there is a gas grill, more seating and a second heater. Down the slope, a stone fire pit on its own gravel terrace.
Good To Know - self check-in with a keyless smart lock. Central air conditioning and propane heat. Skybest 500 Mbps fiber internet. Dogs welcome — up to two, under 50 pounds, non-aggressive breeds, with a pet fee. Smart TVs are provided; bring your own streaming credentials, as there is no cable or live TV. Three levels with stairs and no elevator. Roads are paved and maintained, but 4WD or AWD is recommended from November through March. Exterior security cameras are in use at the front door entry and front driveway; there are no cameras inside the home. Maximum occupancy is 10 guests and is strictly enforced. About the host
Hosted by Nick Reuter
Hi! I'm Nick, and along with my wife Kathi and our three amazing kids, we split time between sunny gulf-coast Florida and the beautiful North Carolina mountains. We moved south from Massachusetts back in 2017, but the Blue Ridge Mountains quickly captured our hearts! There's nothing better than knowing our guests are making memories in a place that means so much to our family. We're hands-on, responsive, and always just a message away to make sure your stay is perfect!
Why they chose this property
228 Woodby Ridge captured attention the moment the owners arrived. The welcoming front porch, surrounding trees, and sense of privacy brought an immediate feeling of peace and calm, echoing the slower pace and quiet beauty they had once known in a beloved cabin in Sugar Grove before selling it during COVID. Returning to the mountains, they were drawn to a home that offered escape from everyday life without sacrificing convenience.
Willow Creek Estates, a scenic residential and log home community in Vilas, NC, made that balance possible. Tucked among mature trees on sloping, private terrain, the community still sits just 10 minutes from Boone and Appalachian State University, 10 minutes from Banner Elk and Valle Crucis, and 20 minutes from Blowing Rock. Being surrounded by trees in a secluded setting, yet minutes from everything, felt impossible to pass up. The thoughtfully upgraded kitchen, renovated bathrooms, expansive decking, and finished basement sealed the decision, offering space for family and friends to gather and create lasting memories — and now, as “Closer to Fine,” a place for guests to do the same.
