About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 8 Sleeps

This beautiful family cottage is ideally located on a small point surrounded by peaceful Lake George, a small, quiet no-wake lake with great fishing and swimming, just 12 miles SE of Traverse City. The home features an eat-in kitchen with all appliances and amenities, two full bathrooms, a master suite with queen sized pillow-top bed and two smaller bedrooms with a shared door between them. One of the smaller bedrooms has a double bed, the other has a set of single trundle beds. (Note: you have to walk through the first bedroom to get to the second bedroom.)

The living room features a double hide-a-bed and plenty of comfy chairs. The Cottage sleeps a total of 8.

Lake George is a quiet lake without public access. Motor boats (other than trolling motors) are not allowed, meaning that your vacation will truly be peaceful. Public access sites to both Arbutus and Spider Lakes are just minutes away if you have a motorized boat. The cottage includes a swimming raft, an aluminum canoe, paddles and life preservers of various sizes.

Please note that the Cottage is located in a residential area with permanent residents next door. As such, groups looking for a place for big parties or loud music should look at other properties.)

At the Miller Family Cottage you'll leave the hustle, bustle and noise of bigger lakes behind the minute you drive down the driveway. Once there, you'll see that the Cottage is a place to unwind, relax and reconnect. Yet the excitement of larger lakes, Grand Traverse Bay and Traverse City are just minutes away.

NO SMOKING, NO PETS. Minimum 5 night stay.

About Gayle Miller

Our parents purchased the cottage in the mid seventies when we were children and living in Traverse City. Our family moved to Alma in 1976 and the cottage remained a family get-away. After our parents retired, they spent every summer living at the cottage. They remodeled the kitchen and added a nice master bedroom. The house is filled with comfortable furniture and family history. Three generations of our family have loved the cottage and we're delighted to be able to share it with our summer guests.

Gayle Miller purchased this cottage in 1973

Why Gayle Miller chose Traverse City

The cottage on Lake George Trail is a lovely haven away from the bustle of Traverse City. You are just 15 minutes from all of the exciting things that the Grand Traverse Region has to offer. After a day of sightseeing, climbing the sand dunes, shopping or participating in the exciting events of local festivals, you can come home to a quiet and peaceful retreat. But you might also get so relaxed napping on the deck or lying on the raft that you never to go into town!

What makes this cottage unique

Once you arrive at the cottage, you'll immediately head for the lake, and within a few minutes you'll realize what a special place the cottage is.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

As first-time home renters, we were completely thrilled with this lovely cottage on Lake George! The first impression of one member of our party... "Gorgeous!" Warm and cozy, comfortable, relaxing, QUIET! We enjoyed the fire pit and the paddle boat, but most important was being able to hang together as a family instead of being stuck in individual hotel rooms. Directions to the cottage were perfect; the cottage was well-furnished. Just cannot say enough about how clean and well-kept the cottage was, and how nice and helpful the owner was. I would HIGHLY recommend this cottage to anyone visiting the Traverse City area! You won't be sorry!

Love this cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just got home from this comfortable home away from home cottage. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have been on. This cottage is so warm and inviting. The pictures are exactly what you see and more. The deck gives you the best view of the lake and the breeze that blows through the trees is fabulous. We enjoyed the fire pit and roasted s'mores. I can't say enough about this cottage and anyone considering going there go it's great. Thank you Gayle for making this experience so enjoyable.

A peaceful, welcoming spot

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here for our first family vacation with kids and grandkids. The cottage is clean, well appointed and feels as though a good friend has loand you their home for a get-away.

There was a big storm while we were there and the electricity was out for about 12 hours. The home owner called us to make sure that we were okay.

A note about the third bedroom - it is actually a small room behind the second bedroom. It was a good setup for the kids/grandkids but might not work for couples.

Munson Family

  • 5 of 5

Peaceful and serene were definitely the right words to describe this cottage. Beautiful small lake provided great scenery for morning coffee and dinners. House was very comfortable and provided plenty of room for our family of 4. My boys loved the paddle boat and canoe. We were very sad when it was time to leave!
