I bought this cabin six months before meeting the love of my life. In the early years of our relationship, we spent many long weekends here exploring and relaxing. We both feel a strong spiritual connection to the land. After nine years together and traveling, it is still our favorite romantic get away. Our place is filled with happy memories with friends and family and positive energy. We love sharing our property with you and hope that you will leave here refreshed, relaxed and with a strong desire to come back!
Carol Hayes purchased this cabin in 2005
This cabin is located in the Toccoa River Valley just west of Suches, near the Appalachian Trail, day hiking, water falls, Vogel State Park, award winning wineries and historical Dahlonega and Blue Ridge. The Chattahoochee National Forest is literally out the back door and up the mountain. If you want to get back to nature and still be comfortable, this is the place for you!
Variety of wildlife moves through our property, including deer, wild turkeys, humming birds, and red shouldered hawks. Hunting on the property is strictly prohibited, but available in the nearby designated wildlife management areas.
We are glad that you loved our place and hope that you have plans to visit with us again!
Extremely well kept cabin!! Had everything one could ask for and more! Truly enjoyed the get back to nature experience-plenty of biking and hiking trails to explore. And best of all the weather was fantastic!!!
Clean and quiet.
Would recommend to have extra paper products on site or restocked between visitors. ;)
Every year, my husband and I, along with our Pug stay somewhere in No Georgia for our anniversary and Christmas. There are many great places and I try to leave great reviews when they are called for (I have left less than wonderful reviews, too). I called Carol a week or so before our trip because I had absentmindedly forgotten to sign and return our paperwork and didn't want to drive there and find ourselves locked out. She was so nice on the phone. I felt like I was talking to a friend. Paperwork got emailed. Directions were easy; even from Nashville (most directions are from Atlanta). We arrived at the house and first of all, I have to commend whoever decorated and cleaned the cabin. Every nook and cranny was decorated for Christmas, but it wasn't crowded. It was perfect. Little something here or there. A tree next to the table. The mantle was decorated and lit. A big wreath hung outside and was lit. It was very festive. On top of that, the cabin was the cleanest cabin I've ever stayed in and we've stayed in our share. The kitchen had everything I needed including things like flour and decaf coffee that I forgot to bring. The two downstairs bedrooms were avg size so we used those for our luggage so we didn't have to carry it upstairs. The downstairs bathroom is avg size, too, but again, well stocked with plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, etc. Upstairs was shocking to both of us. We stood there with our mouths hanging open. Maybe because we don't live like that. But the bathroom off the master is the size of a bedroom with a Jacuzzi tub, double sinks, a separate shower, and toilet. There'd still be enough room in there to have a picnic. It's huge. The bedroom had the most comfortable bed and all the rooms are full of windows. There's also an area overlooking the living room to play games, do puzzles, read, or whatever you like. Oh, I didn't even tell you about the living room, the wrap around porch or the total privacy. Perfect, perfect, perfect. And enough wood for about a week with kindling already cut. We called to see if we could stay an extra day. No problem. If you're wondering if you should rent this cabin, yes, you should!
We wanted a "getaway" in the woods, near the Appalachian Trail. Overall, the cabin and the location were better than we expected.
Unlike many others, our Verizon cell worked in the corner of the living room and on the porch. Wifi worked fine. Loved the book collection, wood stove, and front porch. When we extended our stay from 7 to 10 days, the owner had an entire load of firewood delivered.
The waterfall was a nice surprise.
We would have liked better seating in the living room, where we could have sat side-by-side, a love seat or sofa. The large chair in front of the wood stove wasn't quite big enough for the two of us. If there were more than the two of us, seating in the living room would have been a problem.
Also, there were no dressers for our clothes nor cupboard space for our food. That may be fine for a short visit but not for 7-10 days.
We would go back again. This is one of our favorite VRBO's so far.
What a beautiful cabin. The wifi access is pretty stable which was good since no one had cell service close to the cabin! The waterfall down the road was beautiful. The AT is only a short drive away. Although the mountain road is daunting the first time you do it, by the end of the week we got used to the winding roads. The kitchen is very well stocked, and we enjoyed cooking our meals. The only downside is no hot tub. :)
We were surprised at first that we had overlooked the fact that there was no TV. The cabin is secluded which we loved. We enjoyed eating dinner on the porch at night. Our grandchildren enjoyed playing and we reading. Access to the internet was wonderful to check the weather and for our grandchildren at night. It is a good place to get away!!!
This cabin is rural. There are local restaurants and limited groceries six miles away. The wineries are 30 minutes. All the conveniences including full service grocery stores located in Dahlonega, Blairsville, or Blue Ridge.
