About the property

Swimming, snorkling, bodyboarding and Surfing just steps away from your door

Celebrate Aloha and the tradition of Hawaii with a stay at our slice of paradise. You'll take a step back in time to a simple more relaxing period when you arrive at Kiahuna Plantation on the sunny south shore of the beautiful island of Kauai, 'The Garden Island'. Kiahuna Plantation is the only beachfront condominium resort in Poipu. Leisurely stroll the 35 lush acres and enjoy the feeling of Traditional Hawaii as you walk through gardens rich with tropical flowers, plants and beautiful trees, past ponds to a wonderful beach. Make a quick stop at the beach hut to pick up complimentary beach towels and chairs and enjoy the well-manicured lawn or relax on Kiahuna's sandy beach. Swim, surf or snorkel with brightly colored tropical fish and sea turtles or take a short walk to Poipu Beach, one of the world's best beaches as rated by Travel Magazines, TV and many guidebooks. Often when you arrive you can see Hawaiian monk seals sunning on the beach or playing in the crystal clear water. Large sea turtles are almost daily visitors and offshore whales and dolphins can often be seen! For the more adventurous, the highly professional and gracious Castle Resort staff is available on site, and can help make arrangements for more extensive adventures such as kayaking, luaus, helicopter tours, horseback riding, sunset sailing and more. Of course, no visit to Kauai is complete without a tour of the Waimea canyon and the Na'pali coast, each about an hour's drive from the condo. Take a little longer drive and head north to Kapaa, the Kilauea Lighthouse, some secluded beaches, Princeville, Hanalei (enjoy a cocktail at Tahati Nui- George Clooney did). Drive further north to find more beaches, caves and challenging hiking trails. Superb restaurants and a shopping village are a short walk from the condo and the new Kukuiula center is a longer walk or a very short drive for shopping and dining. Championship golf courses and beautiful hiking trails are nearby. Need a workout, prefer a pool to sand or wanting a few sets of tennis?

The Poipu Beach Athletic Club, pool and tennis courts are readily available and complimentary to our guests. Our home away from home is centrally located on the plantation. The beach, check in desk, Plantation Restaurant, laundry facilities, BBQ's, and parking are all easily accessible. Our unit is #227 in building #35. It is a top floor, one bedroom condo, with a lofted ceiling. The bedroom has a king size bed and the living room couch converts to a comfortable queen size bed. The condo sleeps four people with extra sleeping arrangements upon request. The large private lanai looks over gardens and mature trees with a partial ocean view. There are two lounge chairs plus a table with seating for four. It is the perfect place for a morning Kauai coffee, evening cocktail, glass of wine and a relaxing dinner. The recently remodeled bathroom has a full shower and bathtub. Two new ceiling fans, carpeting, a completely remodeled kitchen with cherry wood cabinets, granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances was completed in October 2012. We are striving to create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming home for our guests to enjoy.

Please try to make your reservations as early as possible, as these units are very desirable and fill up quickly. Remember to check our calendar for availability before contacting us. We hope our condo and Kiahuna, in the best location and with the best weather in Kauai, become for you what it has been for us: a very special place.

About Kevin & Kate Egan

Over the years we have been lucky to have visited the four major islands and enjoyed the special qualities of each. We fell in love with Kauai! For over 30 years we have spent vacations on Kauai. We have stayed on the north shore, on the east shore and in the south in the Poipu area. Although we live in a beach community in Southern California, we look forward to our trips to Kauai. It takes us away from the frantic Southern California pace, allows us to relax, reconnect with nature and rejuvenate our bodies and aloha spirit. We have been fascinated by the Kiahuna Plantation's old world feeling of traditional Hawaii and fell in love with it's location and the beach. The Poipu area, although it has many visitors, also maintains a wonderful local feeling and aloha spirit. As a family we enjoy the beaches, especially the snorkeling around the Kiahuna Plantation and Poipu beach and as an avid long time bodysurfer, I enjoy Shipwreck's beach which is a short distance from our condo.

Kevin & Kate Egan purchased this condo in 2014

Why Kevin & Kate Egan chose South Shore

We became familiar with Kauai, Poipu and Kiahuna over the years and the island area around the plantation became part of us. We have a special feeling when we are there. For years we have looked for just the right property to fully enjoy all the Island has to offer. We fell in love with Kiahuna and this condo because of Kiahuna's location on Kauai and the condo's location within Kiahuna Plantation. As an added bonus, the former owner has lovingly and tastefully remolded and upgraded in exactly the way we would have done it ourselves!

We read the great reviews from guests that had stayed in this condo recently - many 5 star reviews!!!

What others have said about Kiahuna #227 and their stay-

'I've been to Kauai three times, and this condo experience surpassed all others. Everything was in tip top shape and very up-to-date.....

The grounds surrounding the condo are beautifully landscaped. We loved sitting on the lanai in the morning to enjoy our breakfast and the view.....

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the lovely Kiahuna Condos. Everyone there were so nice and accommodating ......and so friendly. The condo itself was wonderfully decorated and very functional....

It was everything as advertised and more. The Kiahuna grounds are gorgeous, the beach was easy access and beautiful, and the little shopping center across the street met all our needs.....

The view from the lanai was so serene and peaceful....

We loved the decor and the kitchen was a dream to cook in. We loved the view from our lanai, the tiki torches at night, the early morning rain showers and the sounds and scents of tropical paradise.....

The location is ideal - a 2 minute stroll to the ocean and there is a fantastic restaurant on the property. We will be back!

The apartment is airy, lovely, light, and quiet. We spent much of our time on the lanai, where we were visited daily by local and beautiful tropical birds. We were six minutes walk from my favorite beach for snorkeling.....'

What makes this condo unique

Our vacation home is centrally located within the plantation. It is surrounded by lovely tropical trees and gardens. It is a short walk one way to the beach and the other way to Castle Resort's exclusive Poipu Beach Athletic Club, tennis courts and swimming pool. It is also an easy walk to the on-site highly rated Plantation Gardens Restaurant and to Whaler's Village just across Poipu road. It is an upper level unit with tropical breezes and a lanai to take in the garden and ocean views. You might catch a whale spouting while eating on the lanai and watching the sunset over the blue Pacific. It is truly one of life's great pleasures!

WE WERE SO LUCKY TO FIND THIS JEWEL THROUGH HOME AWAY FROM HOME!!

  • 5 of 5

When we first walked into our unit, the view was so breathtaking we immediately took photos with our phones and sent them to our children. It truly was as described in the listing and the photos. The ad really captured it very well. We were happy to have that partial view of the ocean.

We loved that tree to the left off the lanai. It gave us total privacy and protected us from the unwanted winds. All the while, the great breezes came directly through the unit with the louvers catching the breezes in every room thereby making air conditioning needless. We so enjoyed the songbirds in the tops of the trees while basking on the lanai in the beauty of Kaua'i.

The Bungalow was just the right size for comfortable easy living. We loved being on the top floor with no one above us. It was so very quiet and it enabled us to view more of the plush grounds and the top floor also had great vaulted ceiling in the living areas. The impeccable art work heightened our senses always keeping us happy and in the Island mood.

It was nice having the choice of sitting on the grass or right on the beach!! If ever our travels take us back to Kaua'i, we will definitely contact VRBO again and I would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

Fantastic, beautiful, everything we dreamed of!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had an amazing stay in Kauai thanks to Kevin and Kate's amazing condo. It is truly the perfect place with every accommodation you could possibly want.

We spent early mornings and evenings on the lanai, enjoying the view. The beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and snorkel gear came in so handy every day! Considering all the other rentals available on Poipu, the Kiahuna Plantation definitely has prime access. Kevin and Kate are great communicators and so helpful as well.

We also used the gym across the road several times and were very happy with those facilities! We were sad to leave but were so happy to have stayed here and would certainly stay here again!

What a wonderful escape at #227 our new Kauai Home away from Kate and Kevin

  • 5 of 5

Miss Tess and I have been together since we were in our early 20's and this was the first time in 15 years after nearly 30 years together that we were able to take a vacation outside of California.

This was very special for us and the Egan Family have done a wonderful job of creating a warm and comfortable place for you to enjoy their Kauai home at Kiahuna Plantation.

The Castle Management Staff are very accommodating and welcoming at check in. Please be sure to use them for any Restaurant Reservations or needs while you are there.

If you are dining in town we recommend the following:

1.) Go to the Kauai Community College if you are there on a Saturday. They have a wonderful Farmer's Market supplied by locals. We enjoyed meeting with the locals and bought amazing produce. The Kitchen in 227 is really good and you can easily make and eat local meals from the items you have purchased.

2.) The Restaurant on the Property is great too. Ask for Jeff the GM and let him know that you are a guest of the Egans'. Tess really liked the Pot Roast. Me...just order something from Groth Vineyards & Winery which is the Oakville Winery I work for. Food is very good and you won't be disappointed.

3.) Beach access is great and the Egans have all of the equipment you need for a great day on the beach in the closet. Make a sandwich, enjoy the beach.

4.) Some things to do:

Go to see the Spouting Horn Blow Hole and after have a nice lunch at the Beach House. Go to Merriman's a few miles away and have dinner. Walk in Old Town and visit Historic Kauai. Go to Kapaia Stichery to see really cool Hawaiian Quilts and ask for Auntie Faith. The Fabrics are amazing . http://kapaia-stitchery.com/

Really a great place and a tremendous value. Wish we were still there.

Quiet and relaxing experience for two

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent 5 days in this condo for our belated one-year wedding anniversary and we enjoyed every second of it. The condo's lanai offered a nice partial-ocean view where we ate breakfast each morning and relaxed every evening. The condo itself was only a short stroll away from Poipu beach where we spent our days. The condo was well located within the Kiahuna Plantation, and also offered quite a few nice "extra" amenities like coolers and snorkel gear for use while at the beach. We definitely recommend this place!

Owner's Response: Aloha Kristina and Trevor! Mahalo for your kind review - enjoying our lanai is, also, one of the reasons we love 227. I start my day with coffee on the lanai and often end with champagne while watching the sun set over the ocean. Fantastic rainbows are another site to behold. Often, our son will build a Lego creation while Kevin is on the lap top and I am reading on the lanai - Kauai's outdoor living space :-) We truly look forward to your return to make 227 your Island Home. Aloha, Kate and Kevin

Fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

Kauai is our favorite island and vacation place. Poipu beach is our favorite spot on the island and the Kiahuna Plantation Resort the best place to stay there. The condo we stayed in was magnificent. You could tell it had been recently remodeled and very well kept up. It included everything you need to just settle in and cook a nice meal or relax, read or watch TV. Being on the third floor the view was great and there was always a nice breeze through the condo. Originally it was just to be my wife and I until two of our children showed up the last week which was OK. There's a nice pull out bed and we had a futon put in. With the size of the condo we are all very comfortable. I would like to thank the owners for letting us rent the condo and for their concern, caring and information about the condo before we even got there. The exercise and work out rooms are fantastic.Thank you and and we will be back.
