Overview

About the property

The house is updated with modern furnishings and hardwood floors.

The house is nestled on a quiet, u-shaped road, across from a park with a stunning view of the Chugach range from the dining room table.

The house is located 2.5 miles from downtown with a straight shot on the Glenn Hwy. Downtown has the 5th Avenue mall and many quaint, souvenir stores, the museum, Performing Arts Center and many restaurants. Five minutes away is the Northway mall and Tikahtnu center which has a movie theater, Kohl's, Target, Best Buy and several restaurants.

The house has 4 bedrooms total and 3.5 bathrooms. Three bedrooms in the house, 1 room with a king bed and other two rooms with queen beds, a dresser, HBO cable and a TV. The fourth room is a detached guest room with a king bed and a queen bed, microwave, small refrigerator, HBO cable and a flat screen TV. It is about 10 steps outside, to access a full bathroom inside the house.

There is a carport for one car and the driveway will hold two cars side by side. Street parking as well.

The BBQ and patio furniture are at the edge of the carport to enjoy the summer sun. The backyard isn't a play area but there is the park right across the street.

I have also purchased a coupon books that offers many discounts on many tourist attractions and over 300 restaurants. Most of them are buy one get one free. So if you decide to take a trip on the Alaska Railroad to Seward and back and a ticket is $170 they will give you one ticket free. The major coupons I will give out one, for every three nights books. The book will be left at the house for your use for any of the restaurant ones or other activities. It could definitely save you a couple hundreds of dollars.

About Jan Durrington

I moved up to Alaska in 1991 with $80, a credit card and a round trip ticket. I found a job on the second day and have never left. I love to ride my PWC out in the ocean, and fish, shrimp and explore the beautiful surroundings of Alaska.

In 2014, I decided to open up my house to the many visitors from the lower 48 to give them the opportunity to see Alaska as I have.

Jan Durrington purchased this house in 2007

Why Jan Durrington chose Anchorage

It is in the perfect location for visitors. It is easy access to downtown, and both highways to get out of town to explore the wilderness side of Alaska.

What makes this house unique

Great location and a great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This property worked great for our big group. It was nice to have so many bathrooms! It is a nice place, everything looks new and worked great. There is a huge park and a kids playground right across from it. Jan was super easy to work with and went out of her way to help us, even sending things left behind! I would definitely recommend this house, looking forward to staying again.

recommend property

Our family vacation was enhanced by staying at this property. The home has full amenities and a well stocked kitchen. The beds and linens were comfortable and good quality. The jetted tub was nice after some of the hikes. The home is located close to the highway, restaurants, parks, airport, and food shopping. The owner was helpful, available, and takes good care of the property.

July in Anchorage

  • 5 of 5

Jan was very friendly and helpful. The house was very clean and the washer and drier came in handy after a two day fishing trip. Plenty of bathrooms which came in handy for three families getting ready for a wedding. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely couldn't be happier!

  • 5 of 5

Jan immediately felt like a best friend. She was so friendly and helpful. Her house that we stayed in was spotless and spacious. I would certainly stay here again...In fact, I wish I never had to leave. The bed I slept in was so comfortable. I can't remember the last time my back felt this great! A true home away from home.

Our family of 9 had a great stay in this home. It was a great location with easly acess to the main highway and close to the downtown area. The bathrooms were great for everyone getting ready in the morning. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and eating in. The grill was nice for steaks and fish. Jan was very helpful and went out of her way to make our vacation the best. Thanks again Jan for all your help!

Home away from home plus

  • 5 of 5

For two families sharing a house, the multiple bathrooms were perfect. Everything was very comfortable, including nice sheets and towels. If we were to do it again, we would stay here. The owner was very nice and accomodating and having a playground across the street helped a lot to keep the kids active in our down time.
