About the Property
Ocean front beach house & pr.otected seawall on 60' wide canal
Our beach house is an open floor plan with postcard Atlantic Ocean views from every room. Off the main living area are two bedrooms with queen size beds and a full bathroom (there is also an ocean front enclosed outside shower at ground level). Central air, and tile floors and ceiling fans throughout. The house is situated on a 55' wide pebble beach which leads into the ocean and Niles Channel, directly across from Little Palm Island. The south door of the elevated house opens onto an outside deck off the living room. Enjoy spectacular sunrises, the glow of the southern sky at sunset and the night sky. Our panoramic view of the open ocean from the horizon to the open sky is breathtaking. Star gazing here is spectacular (very limited stray light from populated areas).
Offered with the house is a 60' wide canal, located behind the house, with instantaneous direct deep ocean access from protected dockage. Our seawall can easily accommodate up to a 28’ boat and is equipped with a fish cleaning station, and water. For a Google Earth view of our awesome location, scroll to the bottom of this page.

The Key-ver beach house is 1½ miles from the Overseas Highway, mile marker 25, on the southern tip of Summerland Key. Summerland Key is flanked to the east by Niles Channel, the only deep draft (high bridge) channel between Marathon and Key West; and to the west by Kemp Channel, making easy access for boating both on the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico and back country. Summerland Key is close enough to enjoy the historic, island city of Key West yet it is a truly peaceful piece of paradise where you can hear the lapping water, rustling palm fronds and gentle sounds of birds. It is five miles to Big Pine shopping. Restaurants, seafood markets and entertainment, are nearby; Little Palm Island (an exclusive resort) is a short boat ride to a five star lunch or dinner. The ocean is your front yard. We are among the closest homes to great snorkeling and diving, at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary, our coral reef, which is a short 3 mile trip off shore from your door. On a clear, calm day you can see the navigation marker at Looe Key from the house! Bring your boat or rent one and dock in our protected canal located behind the house (the canal is featured in pictures 21 and 22). Bahia Honda is a short drive and rated one of the top ten beaches in Florida. There are many fun and educational points of interest close by, our house is a very cool place from which to experience island living at its very best.

About the owner: Bud and Grace have been married for over 30 years. We share the love of water sports and the ocean with each other and our 3, now adult, children. All 5 of us are divers and avid boaters. Our favorite vacation destination was the lower keys until we moved to Summerland, over ten years ago. We love the location, its neighborhood and access to blue water so much that in 2013, we purchased the oceanfront beach house. We look forward to sharing this vacation destination and the beauty of the southern end of Summerland Key with you.

Our oceanfront beach house is one of the very few homes that have an oceanfront beach and protected dockage on a seawall in a wide and deep water canal with instantaneous direct ocean access and easy access to the gulf and back country. The southernmost end of Summerland is a special place; its open space is filled with palm trees, tropical gardens, naturally occurring plants, birds and other wildlife that share the island with those fortunate enough to find and take the time to enjoy it. Whether by land or by sea, there is plenty to do. We hope that you will enjoy our beach house on Summerland Key and experience island living and all that the lower keys have to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The horizon ocean view from every room in the house is spectacular. We have been told by several guests that pictures do not do justice to the panoramic view the Key-ver ocean front beach house offers. (trying to capture the ocean colors and ever changing outdoors through the windows, the house looks dark, but it is not, it is very light and airy). Very few homes have the ocean in the front yard and a protected canal behind the house, but this one does. On any given day, the ocean going ship traffic can be seen on the horizon. Sails and unlimited hydroplane rooster tails are a common site off shore, as are dolphin, near shore. The neighborhood is quiet, it is a mile and a half from the overseas highway, off the beaten trail. Summerland Key is close enough to Key West to make daily or nightly trips, but far enough away to enjoy the island breeze, hear fish jump, watch the ever changing ocean, and a stellar view of the night sky.
