About Sandy Dorris

Living in this area for years now has been such a wonderful experience for me. I am so happy to now have LOAFER'S GLORY to share with others so they too can enjoy stepping back in time in the quaint little Village of Leiper's Fork. Down home feel, live music in the village, quaint shops , art galleries, good eating, friendly people, close to downtown square of Franklin, peaceful and quiet times sitting on front porch sipping your morning coffee, or sight seeing to Natchez Trace, downtown Nashville....wineries close by.. trail riding, you name it.

I am looking forward to sharing my little piece of heaven with others so they too may experience what rural Leiper's Fork has to offer.

Being retired now gives me more opportunity to share my cottage and village with you....LOAFER'S GLORY is waiting to give you the royal pamper experience. I am all about sharing the "glory!"

Sandy Dorris purchased this house in 2013

Why Sandy Dorris chose Middle

This property has everything to offer you, my guests, the best of everything. It is located in the quaint little village of Leiper's Fork which is know "world wide" as the place to visit. People come here from far and near just to experience the down home feeling of staying in a rural town yet so close to so many things to do. Everyone who visits always tell me they wanted to stay longer, they want to come back for a return stay, and yes "they want to move here." It happens over and over and I do get many return guests. So my little stone cottage, LOAFER'S GLORY, lets me share everything about this area with all who choose to stay here. My cottage has been designed and appointed with YOU in mind. Great thought has gone in to making it warm, comfortable, and inviting. It sits nestled back on the property making it very quiet and peaceful, allows you to sit on front or side porch and no one sees you enjoying your relaxing time, and is 2 minutes from all that goes on in the village ie: live music, quaint shopping, a variety of places to eat, trails to ride or hike, wineries, art galleries, sightings of many famous artists who have chosen this community to live in just because they can appreciate it's beauty and the people here who allow them their personal privacy . LOAFER'S GLORY is situated right where it needs to be for the perfect get away for my current and future guests. Wanna drive to the square of downtown Nashville then you can be there in 8 minutes, wanna drive to downtown Nashville then you can be there in 25 minutes,,,,,but guarantee you will always want to return to Loafer's Glory Cottage to just chill and relax...until time to get up and go again or just sit a spell. i look forward to sharing my gem of a cottage with you soon.

What makes this house unique

Fantastic views, cool shade from the many trees, garage parking for guest cars. Private setting nestled back from the road. Close to all that goes on in the village of Leiper's Fork.

Totally renovated and updated with everything one could wish for in their VRBO get away. It was truly designed with my guests in mind.... Come and see for yourself and you will find it is exactly as you see in the pictures.

Magical

  • 5 of 5

Leiper's Fork and Loafer's Glory caught us by surprise. Never could I imagine how I would feel when we would make the turn into this lush, historic and beautiful area, and see the enchanting little village and stone cottage. The area is spectacular, the cottage is adorable and the owner Sandy will stop at nothing to ensure your stay is perfect. The home is decorated perfectly in what I would call urban farmhouse chic, with every detail well thought out. It's a mix of antique, rustic and new and is simply a joy to plop down in. The kitchen is perfectly done and appointed, with coffee in the cupboard for the coffee maker- a treat to a late arriving guest who can't wait to curl up on the porch the next morning with a cup o' Joe. The bathroom is simply spectacular, with a rain shower, regular shower plus hand shower, even a seat. Beautiful decor abounds in there, as well. The two bedrooms are cozy and truly lovely, with comfortable beds and pretty linens you can't wait to wrap up in. The covered wraparound porch has plenty of seating and was fun to enjoy during a summer southern storm. The front yard- large, very green, with

large trees and a pretty view across the two-lane road is perfect for children to play in. Just know to take care as there is no fence and there can be some traffic at busier times of the day. If

you stay, make sure to go out at night- look and listen. For this city girl from Pasadena, CA, the sounds and sights were a feast for my senses. Turning out the porch lights and watching my little ones search for, then catch and release fireflies- was a magical moment I will never forget. If you find yourself near Franklin, make sure to spend some time at Loafer's Glory. You'll want to return again and again. We can't wait to get back. ❤️

Owner's Response: Oh my goodness how very nice of you to share your thoughts for others to read. Future guests usually like to read what other's have experienced during their stay at Loafer's Glory. I think you just about summed it up nicely for everyone!!! Glad you were pleasantly"surprised" as you said in your review. Nothing like the quaint little Village of Leiper's Fork. There is a special vibe about it that people feel that makes them want to sit back and enjoy the simple way of life. I loved it where you said make you just want to "plop down" and relax. You know in this busy world we do not take the time to sit back and just listen to things right around us. You loved sitting on the front porch and listening "to the night"..... yes, it has many beautiful sounds and glad the children got to catch the fireflies. That's enough to make you want to come back for another visit for sure. My cottage was furnished with my guests in mind....want you to feel comfortable and pampered. Please tell your friends and family about the cottage and by all means schedule yourself right back here as soon as you can. Loafer's Glory stays booked pretty far in advance so plan early and reserve early to get the dates you prefer. I know you had a choice and so happy you chose Loafer's Glory. The light will be on to welcome you back.....until then...! Sandy

Perfectly Decorated Charming Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This is the most charming private stone cottage nestled in the sweetest little town Leipers Fork (less than 1 minute away) surrounded by the most beautiful scenic views within close distance of downtown Franklin (17 mins. approx.). It was great to have a code instead of a key to enter the house, especially if you have multiple guests. The pictures of the cottage are great online, but it is even more lovely in person. The cottage is so perfect, you feel like you walked into a magazine cover for interior designers it is so perfectly decorated with a shabby chic elegance. It was extremely clean and tidy from top to bottom. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need. The mattress was very comfortable and the bed had more than enough pillows. The bathroom shower was amazing with a traditional shower head and removable shower head combination with a rain shower coming from the ceiling. I was so glad there was a double vanity in the bathroom so I didn't have to share a sink. The washer dryer combination came in handy. There were multiple outdoor seating options, a covered front porch with seating for four which came in handy when we wanted to be outside during a light rain storm and a good size table out back with seating for six next to the grill. One morning I was greeted by a gang of turkeys in the front yard (maybe 10 or 12) which was a wonderful surprise, as was the two bunny sightings I had during my stay. Sandy has thought of everything from extra towels, a hairdryer, to iron and ironing board and everything in between.

The cottage is in very close proximity (1 minute drive) to Pucketts grocery which is less of a grocery store and more of a great place to grab your traditional southern meat and three lunch/dinner (and hear live music Thursday-Sunday evenings which is standing room only unless you get on the list to get a table) and hang with the locals. My favorite restaurant downtown was Gray's for dinner and the Frothy Monkey for breakfast or lunch. Every first Friday of each months they keep the shops and galleries open late for the Art Crawl in downtown Franklin.

I can't say enough about the people in Franklin, they are some of the nicest people I have ever come across in all my travels, just really really nice genuine friendly people. The only bad thing about the cottage is that I didn't want to leave! I had the most wonderful stay at this lovely little slice of heaven. This has to be my very favorite VRBO ever!

Owner's Response: Lisa, Thank you so much for sharing your personal thoughts about your stay at my cottage Loafer's Glory. You called it your "little slice of heaven" and that is exactly how I feel about my cottage. It's location in the quaint little Village of Leiper's Fork adds to it's charm. Located in one of the sweetest areas of Franklin, Tn. Everything in the cottage was selected with my guests in mind, ie: plush bedding, spa like shower, plush linens, neat, clean, places to sit and view the hills from the front porch, or sit in back patio by the grill, and so very close to the center of village where one can experience live music, home cooked meat and 3 meals, great shops of all kinds, and the best folks anywhere ready to welcome you to their village. It is also so close to the downtown area of Franklin where there are many more shops and restaurants, museums, historic places, live music , tours, etc. You summed it up nicely when you said you felt as if you were walking in to a Magazine Cover......now that is so cool. Thanks again for your raving 5 star review and I am certainly looking forward to having you as guest again in the near future. The lights will always be on.....see you soon. Sandy

Our home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

What a delightful cottage... Loved the decor, the luscious bedding, and the comfortable beds . Much attention to detail was given throughout the cottage

We loved the Leiper's Fork Village, downtown Franklin, but mostly coming back to our cottage every day and sitting on the front porch enjoying the view.

We will definitely be back for another stay.

Sandy was so nice and loved getting to meet her.

What a gem we have found.

Owner's Response: Oh it was so fun getting to meet you. I loved having you as my guests at Loafer's Glory. You certainly got the feeling of "a home away from home." That is exactly what I like to hear. The cottage is very special to me an I love sharing it with others. Our little Village of Leiper's Fork is such a quaint and special little place. It's nice to get away from all the hub bub a while and sit back and relax. There is live music, great food, great shopping, and much more. Want to venture in to downtown Franklin is no problem It is just 8 miles to even more fun things to do. Glad you stopped in The Pick- It -Fence to shop. I think we were both surprise to meet one another that day. I will certainly be looking for your return visit and thanks so much for sharing your experience at my cottage, Loafer's Glory. See you soon.......Sandy

Perfect Romantic Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

When I use the word "perfect", I don't use it lightly. My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in this absolutely adorable and tastefully appointed stone cottage. Whoever refurbished and decorated this charming home deserves a Gold Medal in design. Think "Chip and Joanna Gaines" complete with tons of shiplap!

Upon arrival, the door code and lock worked perfectly. The cottage was very clean and still had that "new smell" about it. There were plenty of extra towels, bedding, blankets, toilet paper, laundry and dish detergent to last months! The washer/dryer came in handy too. I think I did a load everyday. We used the grill to make our first meal there and it worked just fine. A bit too hot to sit out back, but if the weather was cooler we would have. Every morning we made coffee (kitchen has everything you need for making meals) and sat on the front porch enjoying the view and the breeze. I almost cried one morning when an old man in a vintage pick-up looked "up" at me on the porch, nodded and waved. This doesn't happen much in South Florida where we are from.

The area is nothing but charm. For us, this anniversary was about reconnecting, relaxing and exploring. My husband's job has taken him to Alaska on a ship the past 1 1/2 years and we have not been able to see one another very much. This was the perfect place to celebrate. The "slow" country living, the friendly people, the absolutely gorgeous scenic drives on Old Hillsboro Road and the Natchez Trace were inspiring. I took some awesome photographs. God's Country, as they say. Historic Franklin is just too cute. Below I will list some places of interest and things we recommend if you decide to visit this area. If you are a history buff, Civil War specifically, this area is a must-do. Pure heaven......

Leiper's Fork: Very small town, but cute as a button!

Things To Do in the "Fork": Visit the art galleries and shops downtown. Drive some of the Natchez Trace, stopping at the view points of interest, etc. Country Boy has GREAT breakfasts!

Drive Hillsboro Road and the surrounding countryside.

Franklin: A short drive from Leiper's Fork and the cottage. Things To Do: Have a cocktail, snack or dinner at Gray's on Main. Awesome craft cocktails by Gracyn at the upstairs bar. Walk Main Street. Visit the antique malls. Puckett's for live music at night.

Visit Andrew Jackson's home near Nashville.

No more room to write anymore.

Owner's Response: I cannot thank you enough for such a fantastic review. I should hire you to write a description about my cottage for future guests to see. You did such a great job describing every detail but my favorite part is when you said you enjoyed reconnecting , relaxing, and exploring with your husband for your 25th anniversary. Having been apart for 1 1/2 years with him in Alaska had to be difficult. Just to know my cottage Loafer's Glory , provided the two of you to experience the "charm of country living" for a few days made me so happy. In this day and time people take such little time to stop, relax, and enjoy what all there is to do that is really simple. We seem to be a very busy generation and not taking time to slow it down a bit then all of a sudden a simple wave from a stranger driving by in a truck warms our heart. I see it happen a lot when people stay at Loafer's Glory. I love helping people get that special feeling of relaxing, being pampered and enjoying some of the simple things in life. Happy Belated 25th Anniversary to the two of you. Hope you will make this your special Anniversary get-away -spot every year. Your made my day sharing your stay in this review so others will read what you experienced and may choose the same for themselves. THANKS SO MUCH!! : ) Sandy
