INFESTED WITH TERMITES! Promised a full refund that I never received/no deposit back. no response
When we arrived on June 13 we found little wings everywhere in the cottage. In the beds, shower, in the living room, dinning room and all over the kitchen which would include the sink. Contacted owner right away and she apologized for the inconvenience. She said it was probably a swarm of termites but they are gone. She said she didn't think she could get a cleaning service but offered a refund of our first night. So I told her I would clean them up myself. Unexpectedly, the next day a cleaning service came but I had already cleaned. During the next couple of days we started seeing more and more of them until our fifth night when we came home between 1 and 2 a.m. The termites were everywhere plus they were flying all over and zooming at our heads! They were in our beds, pillows, kitchen sink, dishes, bathroom, our personal toiletries, in everything!. Evidently termites are more active during the night, who knew? We did not sleep that night since it made us uncomfortable. Not knowing if we were going to be taking termites home with us, thinking our clothing, shoes, suitcases and everything we had with us was ruined. I called the owner and explained the situation and that I could not stay there the last two nights booked. She said she understood and I would be getting a full refund since I had such a bad experience. That day my older girls were booked to fly home. They had to leave everything with me because the pest control company did not respond to us right away. Of course that cost me more baggage fees on my flight. After packing everything up I looked for a list of things we had to do before leaving but could not find one and I had to leave to get the girls to the Tampa airport. The towels I put in a pile in the laundry area. In my haste I forgot to clean the couple of dishes in the sink. I thought it would be understood that we had to leave in a hurry. Luckily, my special needs sister and I found accommodations in Orlando. This vacation was supposed to be fun and surrounded by family because it was our Nieces wedding. It was far from fun, the wedding was beautiful but the cottage was a nightmare. I keep thinking of the termites in the pillow I slept on unknowingly for 4 nights. My sister is not in great health and this was her only vacation to the beach in at least 6 years. This makes me sad for her, as long as her health holds out I will bring her down next year but we will be staying at a hotel. Stay Away!
Thank you, Georgeann for your input from your recent stay at the Cozy Cottage in Pass-a-Grille. I appreciate you sharing your experience so we can improve our service to those wishing to experience an authentic wood cottage in "Historic Pass-a-Grille”Upon your arrival at 9pm you notified me with the update on the swarming behavior of the termites, which I took seriously and contacted a cleaning crew and my maintenance crew which includes the Termite company to address the issues asap. (We have a yearly maintenance agreement with Geiger Pest Control Services) The cleaning crew arrived the next morning at 9 am along with the Geiger Pest Control Services company who assessed the property. The images from the cleaning crew and the termite company provided me with an assurance that the CC was clean, free of termites. I offered you a comp night. I stayed in contact with your through your stay until you were radio silent. I never heard from you again after the first two days and not until the early departure did I hear of any issues. I believe that this was a fair assessment that you and your family were comfortable. You contacted me three days earlier than your scheduled departure, as you mentioned you had already arranged for hotel accommodations in Orlando since your sister had never been to Orlando. I received two emails from you after your departure stating, "Pleased be advised I will be putting a strongly worded review about all issues we had with bugs on Thursday. I would love to be able to give a complimentary review but I won't be able to do that as our experience stands.” Upon your departure, you left the place in disarray with dishes in the sink, on the stove, sheets and bed linens on the floor, along with garbage left strewn through the kitchen. Images of the state of the CC was clearly documented and sent to you for not abiding by the house rules. It was an unfortunate circumstance beyond my control. We offered 4 nights free for your trip to PAG, provided clean-up on the first day due to the issue as well as had the termite company come out to inspect. Thank you again for taking the time to review your experience which looking back has a few missing and key elements. I appreciate your time to capture your experience and understand how your multi-generational group who does not travel often may have also been a contributing factor to your experience. This is certainly not up to our usual high standard to host our guests but thank you again.
Location is fabulous, the cottage is so-so.
We loved the location, just off the beach. But the house was dark. They need better lighting. The bedroom with the queen bed is a small converted garage, and doesn’t even have a closet. And what’s with the towel as a curtain for the bathroom window? Overall, it’s a place by the beach, but it needs work,
Thank you for your response and comments on the Cozy Cottage. Unfortunately, there was a tenant who removed the window treatment in the bathroom and it has not been replaced.
We appreciate your comments on the lighting and actually will be taking the property off the site to work on revisions to the cottage in the summer.
I hope that the location and incredible privacy will bring you back to PAG in the future.
Great location for seeing sunrises and sunsets! Had a few problems but the owner was quick to respond and took care of them as fast as she could. The owner was very pleasant and a pleasure to deal with. House does need a little work but over all I really enjoyed my stay and was the perfect place for my Dog and I to enjoy a month in Pass a Grille Fla
It was a pleasure to host Edie and meet her when she arrived in PAG. We communicated throughout her stay due to the cold weather in PAG.
I would welcome her back anytime should her travels bring her to PAG.
Who could ask for a better location than the cozy cottage. Less than half a block from the gulf and the same to the bay on the other side. Restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Pass-A-Grille is quiet, historical, and beautiful. The cottage kitchen has everything we needed for food prep. With a little updating the cottage would be perfect. We'll definitely visit again.
Thank you for your comments and enthusiasm for the location of the Cozy Cottage. Yes, it is a historical cottage with the charm of PAG.
Our family had one of the best week vacations of our lives while staying at this cottage. It is quiet, a stones throw from the white sandy beach, and very clean. It is well stocked with towels, linens, washer/dryer, beach chairs, and plenty of cookware. Once you are here you never need to leave the island again. Local grocery store, restaurants, and fresh fish available accommodate your every need. Pass a Grille has always been one of our favorite beeches, and we can not wait to stay here again.
Thank you for your comments and so happy that the Cozy Cottage met your family's needs.
We hope to host your family again!.
