Built in 1916, this fantastic house was owned by the Reed family. Sitting front and center on Beulah Reed Road -- named after the wife in the family -- you'll find the Reed family mentioned throughout Oregon. After deeding a sizable land grant which would become part of Oswald West State Park, the Hwy 101 bridge connecting the park to the highway on Neahkahnie mountain is named after the Reed family. Cousins were founding members of Reed College. The family was very involved with work involving the Portland Art Museum and were part of a thriving arts community in the Neahkahnie community.

This wonderful gem of a house was updated in 2014 to it's original glory with modern conveniences to take advantage of the stellar location -- wide swaths of windows to frame unparelled views; restorations of original finishes, new updated kitchen honoring the gracefulness of the house yet with all the modern conveniences you would want in a big cooks kitchen includig an island seating 4, a big great room with original stone fireplace, 180º views and dining area for 14, entertainment and media room, pool table room, ping pong area, beds and bathrooms galore, a third HD TV area and small library, Last but not least, enjoy the huge deck spanning the front of the house and along the side of the house covering a full lot. Nestled into the side yard is your own private fire pit to gather round and roast S'mores or quiet conversation around a fire with a glass of your favorite beverage.

Your master suite awaits with luxurious king bed, a private sitting room area overlooking the ocean and private cozy bathroom with high end Pratt & Larson tile and Waterworks fixtures, encased in marble floors featuring in floor heating.

Bedroom 2 on the second floor is also a king bedroom with generous walk-in closet. Bathroom 2 on the second floor features marble tile with in-floor heating, vintage tub and fixtures, and spacious storage.

Bedrooms 3 and 4 on the third floor are nestled under a high peaked celing, queen beds and ocean views. Bedroom 5 on the third floor features two built in queen beds tucked under the dormer eves and a big dormer ocean view window and window seat.

Bathrooms 3 and 4 are also on the third floor. Each tucked under the eves with high, sloping ceilings, these quaint bathrooms house a claw foot tub and big shower, respectively, and vintage fixtures. Heated marble floors round off the experience.

Bedrooms 6 and 7 are on the first floor and each house two sets of twin bunk beds suited for youth or adults, in addition to lots of storage. Bathroom 5 is also on the first floor with double sinks, luxurious Hansgrohe Rainshower, and heated floors.

About Kim Bergstrom

I'm Kim Bergstrom. My husband, Eric Bergstrom, have built on my father's dream of owning a beachfront house on the Oregon Coast. We now own three, and much to my husband's dismay we continue to grow. We purchased our family beach house from my father in 1996, and have thrived through sweat equity - most people think of us as rather crazy, but we've taken something we love to do and are making it our second chapter in life.

We enjoy taking properties with potential and great location, adding a facelift without removing the character, and introducing them to our expanding group of guests. Our latest endeavor is a turn of the century three story house which will sleep 20. We put a lot of thought and work into each house, and luckily have found guests who love the results. Like many of our guests we've come to know over the years, we hope you also come to think of this special house as your very own vacation home - without all the work!

Why Kim Bergstrom chose Neahkahnie Beach

This house was a true labor of love. Our regular construction guys gave us the side-eye and the big thumbs down. The work required was immense. Well, you'd be sagging too if you were 100 years old! Face lifts (lifting saggy beams), new plumbing and wiring, insulating where there once was none, saving all the old wood features from construction guys used to ripping out and throwing away.

The reward comes when the finish is buffed, polished, and ready for our guests. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience! We hope you enjoy - we've already had great feedback from our regular guests who have stopped by to take a look, and long time guests of the original owners, who have already booked their vacation. We hope you enjoy it, too!

What makes this house unique

Savor this rare opportunity to experience your next vacation at the Historic Reed House, one of the original turn-of-the-century cottages on Manzantia Beach. While the original charm remains, the Reed House has been updated with 21st century comforta

Lovely in Every Way

  • 5 of 5

My family & I just returned home from spending a wonderful week at this lovely Manzanita beach house. There were 8 adults and 8 children - ages 8 down to 10 mos - and the home worked very well for us. The proximity to the beach was perfect! And the home itself is so charming. It has obviously been lovingly restored with updated features that make it a pleasure to inhabit. I think that our only complaint would be that the freezer's ice maker worked very slowly so we ended up buying a few bags of ice - which was not a big deal. And it would have been nice to have had a few sand toys for the kids to use, but that was also not a big deal. Kim has done an outstanding job and was very easy to work with and very prompt in responding to any questions I had. We will be returning!

A wonderful home for a family reunion

  • 4 of 5

We had a family reunion celebrating my folks 90th birthdays and everyone had a wonderful time. There were 20 of us of all ages. The home was very clean, plenty of room and met most all our needs. The kitchen is well stocked, furniture and beds comfy. The major problem was the shower on the lower floor which we could not get any cold water. Also both sinks in that bathroom were slow to drain. The landscapers had left a pile of debris in the parking area, making it difficult to park. The upper door is definitely hard to lock and unlock, which was in the welcome packet. But all in all, we loved the home, and recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thanks Patti! We're so pleased you wrote a glowing note to let us know what a great time everyone had, and that you and your family couldn't imagine a better house to gather in! As I mentioned at that time, we had no idea the new Hansgrohe thermostatic rain shower had temperature control issues, and most importantly we are available to our guests around the clock to help with any issues. If contacted during your stay we could have rectified the situation. The shower is getting cold water - just not enough in the case of someone wanting a cool shower. But don't worry, a replacement was ordered as soon as we heard of the issue from you. The sinks are vintage, and that's the way they work, even with new plumbing and faucets. Those Andersen wood doors do have unique locking mechanisms, which is why we offer instructions to our guests as you mentioned. Lastly, now sure where the 2' x 4' stack of tree limbs to the north of the driveway came from, but luckily there was still plenty of room to fit nine cars in the driveway. Thanks again for the wonderful note Patti. If you're able to return as you hoped, rest assured we're always here to help with any issues that may arise during your stay, or to offer local insider's tips. We're here to help!

Beautifully renovated & wonderful location

  • 4 of 5

Only complaint is that the dishes all needed to be washed and put away before leaving. This required that we make breakfast & wash dishes by hand. Made checking out on time with a dozen people pretty hectic.

Owner's Response: Hi Kim. I so much enjoy matching guests to the perfect house for their vacation, and try to offer as much information up front (including check-out procedures) in order to facilitate that goal. I'm unsure why dishes had to be hand washed as there are two dishwashers available (which we personally love when staying at the house). Unfortunately you'll find this check-out requirement at the majority of the vacation rentals in our area. Other than that issue, we're thrilled you enjoyed the house and appreciated the note telling how much you and your family loved the experience!

This was my MOST favorite house we've ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

The charming beach home located steps off the beach at Manzanita was one of my favorite trips to the coast. I've been visiting the Oregon coast since I was a child and this was one of the best yet. It was our first time staying in Manzanita, we typically stay in Cannon Beach. Only about 20 minutes South of Cannon Beach it was very quaint and quiet. It was only my family of 4 (2 kids + 2 adults) and our furry friend. Although this house can accommodate much larger groups, it was still just as cozy with a small group. My kids loved the ping pong and pool table. They mostly loved the beach just steps away. My husband and I were able to sit on the deck and let the kids go across to play. I highly recommend this house for your next visit. We hope to go back again very soon!!

Best rental in Manzanita!

  • 5 of 5

Spring break vacation '17 was a huge success in large part because of this special house. The other part was the work the owner put in to help us make this happen for several families all with crazy schedules. What can we say about this house? Incredible! The views, the decor, furnished and supplied with everything we needed and much more. As in, can I have the brand new extra large washer and dryer? They were like luxury cars! Kitchen fed the whole gang and more. And what other dining room table in the area could hold the group? Thanks for helping us put this together. It was fantastic!

AMAZING home just steps away from the beach!

  • 5 of 5

Me and my friends, group of 10, stayed at this wonderful home for the weekend. The home is huge, adorable and well stocked. This house has it all: the large groups gathering spaces, entertainment galore in the downstairs, amazing decks and views of the beach, fire pit out front, and well beach out front too! Just amazing!
