Luxury apartment near bath

When you drive up the drive from the busy main road you know its not going to be great with the amount of weeds on either side. The flat which sleeps 10, is sadly not up to a great standard. Whilst a glorious Georgian outbuilding with lovely high ceilings the main room was shabby (stains on the setee covered by throws) and the kitchen insufficient to cater for 10. Indeed, there is nowhere to put any shopping! The fridge was small, old and the ice compartment door broken. Bedrooms were small and the mattress in one room kept falling off the bed as the bed was Ikea and the mattress was not! We tried to clean the place when we left but the vacuum cleaner was full, there was no long handled brush and I didn't want to get down on my hands and knees with a small dustpan and brush. Unfortunately, all utensils appeared to have been bought at the pound shop so were of the worst quality. The stove was so old and in a corner that cooking for all of us was difficult. The last straw was that the bin bags provided were of such poor quality, they split when semi full! In brief, this is a 'luxury apartment' advertised for 10 and caters for 4 (at a push). This could be stunning property if the owners carried out a serious upgrade.

Gemütlich im Westen Englands

Auch wenn wir zu den ersten Mietern in der neu hergerichteten Wohnung gehörten, fehlte praktisch nichts an der Ausstattung. Besonders gut gefiel uns die Wohnküche (dort kann man nicht nur essen und den Waschtrockner nutzen, sondern auch Siedler von Catan spielen). Der Herd scheint aber noch nicht ganz seinen endgültigen Platz gefunden zu haben (Ofeneinsatz blockiert Abzugshaube, Wand ohne Spritzschutz). Schlafzimmer und (kleine) Badezimmer in Ordnung, nur die Lounge wirkt etwas vollgestellt (Ausziehbett eng), auch durch die Fenster (dieser Raum hat den Charakter einer Souterrainwohnung). Mehr als ausgeglichen werden die kleinen Einschränkungen durch das sehr gute Preis-Leistungsverhältnis (trotz der Nähe von Bath), den einwandfreien Service (Mailkontakt und Begrüßungskorb), die gute Lage im netten kleinen Ort (Privatzugang zum Kirchhof, durch Mauern abgeschirmt von der A 4) und im Straßennetz für Ausflüge (z.B. auch zum Heimatort von J.K.Rowling, Chipping Sudbury, oder zum Filmkloster nach Lacock). Sehr empfehlenswert für vier bis fünf Personen!

Lovely property along a quiet drive surrounded by beautiful countryside

We highly recommend staying here after we had a lovely long weekend in the area. The added touches by the owners made the stay even better and we would stay again if we were ever back in the area.

The experience was lovely. Very clean and well decorated. They also left breakfast for us. It wasnt far to Bath. We found a lot of information in the room about transport, restaurants, places to visit... Really fantastic. Thank you very much!!
