Mhairi was amazing. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed as my husband recovered from unexpected heart surgery. It was an extra bonus to be just 1 minute walk to the sea and 10 minute walk to Lidl. We highly recommend!

Super easy check in process. The flat had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully equipped and it was lovely to have a few bits for breakfast the next morning. The scones were delicious!

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. The location was absolutely perfect for us, being so close to both Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh. It's also just a short distance from the beach, which was a lovely bonus.The cottage itself was very comfortable, especially the beds and the showerp. Mhairi is a super host who has thought of everything—the kitchen and bathroom were fully stocked with all the essentials we needed.A special thank you to Mhairi for the incredibly welcoming gifts especially the home made scones and jam, and for her kind offer to help my niece. It was those thoughtful touches that made our stay so memorable.

We had an excellent stay!! Location is wonderful for getting around and exploring - bus is a short 2 minute walk and takes you right into Edinburgh.The property is exactly as illustrated, and Mhairi the host, was wonderful to deal with!!! Excellent accommodation

We had a great stay in Musselburgh. The location is beside the bus stops so easy access to Edinburgh on the 26 or 44 bus. Clean, quiet, well stocked and lovely little house. Great host, great communication and we would stay again.

Superb place to stay

I stayed with my teenage daughter and we absolutely loved it. So much so that we stayed for an additional night. Location for us was perfect, very quiet and close to the beach. After busy days in Edinburgh it was great to come back to a well equipped home from home 🙂

Excellent location, great base

Location was wonderful, walking distance to restaurants, bus stop 2 minutes away. Close to beach and walking distance to playgrounds which was perfect with our 4 year old. Loved everything about staying here, except we found the mattresses a little uncomfortable but that wasn’t a huge deal. Host Mhairi was lovely, lent us some flour when we needed it! Highly recommend staying here!

Lovely Ground floor apartment

Had a lovely stay in this well equipped apartment. Very much as described and shown in pictures. Great transport links to Edinburgh and the coast. Will be happy to stay again.

Fantastic flat in a lovely location

We stayed here with friends for the Edinburgh festival. Mhairi is very welcoming and provided us with some lovely home baking during our stay. Very convenient for the bus into town but great for a walk along the beach when you want a break from festival activities

Home away from home

Location was excellent for accessing Edinburgh by bus. Also, to travel to points of interest in the area. Cosy and warm, close to beach. Mhairi was welcoming and helpful. Thanks for the hospitality!

Comfortable flat with thoughtful owners in a great location

Flat is cozy with plentiful amenities and comfortable beds. Mhairi was very thoughtful and attentive in preparing the place for us to make sure our brief stay was easy and relaxing. Location is great for quick access to the beach, as well as grocery stores and restaurants nearby, but manages to feel quiet and secluded despite being so convenient to the city.

Fantastic stay in a great location

I stayed at Mhairi’s property for six weeks and by the end, it really felt like home. It was a great place to get immersed in the local community, and was very convenient for travelling into Edinburgh and beyond. Mhairi was a fantastic host, and was so generous in offering baked goods and other treats throughout my stay. Thanks so much for having me Mhairi, and I can’t wait to hopefully come back again soon!

Perfectly located

We stayed here so I could go with my friends to the ladies day at Musselburgh races. We were perfectly situated for going into Edinburgh on the bus with buses every 10 minutes or so. The flat was lovely and only a minute from the beach. The owners were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay again. Thank you for having us.

We stayed here in July 2025 and really enjoyed our stay. Not only is the flat very well located, in the second row of houses to the sea, it is also only a few minutes' walk to the bus, from where you can quickly reach the city centre. The beach is beautiful in all weathers, but is even suitable for sunbathing and swimming when the Scottish summer plays along. The flat is exactly as described, nothing is missing. We were even greeted with fresh fruit and flowers. But the best thing is the landlord. Mhairi really goes out of her way, was accommodating and helpful. It's also worth asking her for tips for excursions, we didn't regret it. All in all, we can only give the flat and especially the wonderful Mhairi top marks. We would come back at any time.

Great Location Near Edinburgh

This is a delightfully quiet flat, just a 25 minute bus ride from downtown Edinburgh. The sand beach is less than a minute's walk away and was perfect for an evening walk. The host lives upstairs and was very prompt in replying to emails. This was my wife's favorite place we stayed at while on a two week trip to Scotland.

Great home-base to explore Edinburgh, while offering a nice retreat from the city

Mhairi was a very generous host. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our family of four. A few snacks were also provided -- fruit, cereal, and milk. The apartment is very conveniently located near a bus stop to the city. Mhairi helped us with bus schedules and how to navigate Edinburgh. We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet, clean, exceptional host!

Run to.your computer right now to reserve Mhairi's wonderful rental.We loved the quiet away from Fringe Festival frenzy! It's a very easy 25 minutes bus to the city center. Stroll along the beach to the historic Ship Inn pub for a meal. Mhairi answered all our questions, filled our fridge with breakfast food, and supplied us with good coffee and home made scones and jelly. The space was spotless . If we could give 10 stars, this experience would earn it!

Great location

This flat is in a great location. Just a few seconds walk to the beach! Mhairi , the owner, met us upon arrival. She was even willing to pick us up where we dropped the rental car off. The flat has everything you need. Bus stops right in front. Short walk to Fisherman Harbour and food stores (Lidl, Iceland and Aldi). Mhairi leaves a detailed book with contact numbers and directions for appliances). She also made fresh scones and flapjacks and shared some with us! We hope to stay with Mhairi in our future trips.

My visit

Mhairi was a superb host during my one-week stay. She assisted with all of my needs and was always available. Such a friendly person! The flat was spacious, clean, and welcoming. Getting into Edinburgh was quick and easy, with a bus stop only a few minutes away. Mhairi even drove me into Musselburgh on one occasion. The flat is a bargain given high rental prices in greater Edinburgh. Mhairi was the best! Michael

Cosy flat

We had a three-room flat plus kitchen, bathroom and space for washing-machine and drier. It was very convenient to be able to was our clothes. Because of several food allergies I usually cooked myself which was no problem as the kitchen offered everything needed. The beach was directly behind the house, Musselburgh harbour and promenade only a few minutes away. Mhairi gave us very supportive information how to get to Edinburgh without car and when and where to see King Charles as we came during the Royal Week. We had a nice stay and would return.

Great property, lovely owners

We were here for two nights and had an absolutely lovely stay. The flat itself was in a great position by the beach and our directions and communication from the owner was excellent, we found it no problem. The flat is a great size, immaculate and very comfortable. As we were travelling with small children, Mhairi had been thoughtful enough to make sure we had everything we would need to accommodate us as a family and had provided practical necessities such as a highchair, travel cot, nightlight and some toys, but also milk, bread, juice, eggs etc etc so we didn't have to rush out as soon as we arrived. There is lots of information available for local amenities also, and the owners were really helpful with information about local events, travel etc. I would thoroughly recommend this flat for anyone travelling to the area.

Small flat on the beach, very convenient to Edinburgh

Mhairi was fabulous! Our flight was early, but the flat was all ready for us including breakfast! The kitchen was filled with bacon, eggs, bread, milk, weetabix, coffee, tea. Also delicious tea cakes and other snacks for later in the day! It was very convenient to take the bus into Edinburgh from right outside the building (25-30 minutes to city center). There is wi-fi on the bus and the flat. We had a car, but took the bus into town each day. Musselburgh is a cute little town with restaurants and three grocery stores. The beach is right out back with beautiful views. It is a nice, relaxing place to end the day after spending it in the city.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

This is my home and I love it because it is quiet, close to the beach and nice walks, and yet only twenty minutes from all the excitement that Edinburgh which is a fabulous city has to offer. There are loads of wonderful restaurants in Edinburgh and it is such a vibrant city at any time of year. Musselburgh itself is a historic town with a Roman Bridge, harbour, beach and lovely coastline with plenty of walks.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

I loved the property because it was quirky and had the annexe flat below and because of its proximity to Edinburgh. It is tucked away behind some trees and lovely and private and quiet. Not to mention the wonderful walk along the beach to the harbour or field and forest walk around Newhailes estate, both of which are very close to the property. Bus service to Edinburgh is excellent. Although we live above the flat you have your own access and complete privacy with no interference from us but close by to help if needed.
