A lovely villa in a beautufl location

Our holiday here exceeded our expectations. The villa is very spacious - a terrace for meals; a swimming pool; another terrace for sunbathing; a space for a barbecue; ample rooms for six adults, bathrooms and kitchen. The proprietors have no English but are very helpful and laid back. They have an English speaking friend who is contactable, and dealt with a couple of teething problems effectively.. The only previous review on this site was quite negative, but our impression was that this is the best villa we have ever stayed in. It is in a wonderful position with superb views; it is very quiet, and within walking distance of a supermarket; and a short drive or a 20 minute walk from the charming town of Begur. The wonderful coves of the Costa Brava are nearby. The kitchen equipment is adequate, the furniture is very plain but adequate. It is well maintained and clean, although food shouldn't be left out as there are ants.

Buena ubicación, bien equipado, piscina excelente y buen trato

Todo en general está en buen estado y resulta confortable. No obstante, deben retirar del anuncio que la vivienda tiene conexión a internet. Es falso. Quien no lo precise, disfrutará de buena estancia. Quien lo necesite, como nos pasaba a nosotros por trabajo, tendrá muchas dificultades.

Disappointing

I would like to add a point to my previous review. Whilst it was not a problem for myself and 2 friends, there are several (at least 12) steep steps up to the property from the gate, which does not show in the photos. It does state in the description that when you are in the house it is all on one level, however there are steps up to the bedrooms.

Disappointing

On arrival we were very surprised to find that the owner didn't speak a word of English even though we had communicated via email with him, or so we thought, on several occasions, in perfect English. He was at the property on arrival even though we had sent emails 2 days prior to this and hadn't had any reply back from him. The entrance and steps (of which there are a lot) leading up to the property were unkempt and dirty as was the table on the terrace. The house was clean inside but smelt very musty and had not been aired. The house does not have the following, as is stated: WIRELESS INTERNET, DVD PLAYER AND DVD'S, GAMES AND BOOKS AND FAN. The wardrobes didn't have any coat hangers in any bedroom but after pointing this out the owner came back with 9 between the 3 of us. There are no cups or mugs for tea or coffee, apart from espresso cups, and the kettle is only a very small travel kettle. There were bulbs missing from bedroom lamps. The property was clean but there was no change of linen or towels during our week stay. Any help needed during our stay proved to be extremely difficult due to the language problem, please note that it does state the owner speaks English.
