About the Property
Ideal for family. Russell Square tube, bus or walk to London's best attractions
Built in the 1790s, this historic building boasts all the luxuries of a modern home, including a fully-equipped kitchen (washer/drier for clothes, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer plus lots of pots, pans and utensils for cooking), satellite TV and DVD player, free wi-fi, power shower and modern bathroom.
The spacious living room is light and airy with two large sofas plus a chair that converts into a comfortable single bed. The TV has multiple satellite channels including Sky Sports & Sky Cinema and there are speakers for your MP3 player, a dvd player and a few DVDs. Our bookshelf is stuffed with books which feature London. guidebooks for London and maps for you to take with you as you explore the city. We also have a few toys for young children and games. Two large sash windows with Georgian wooden shutters look out to the historic street below.
The adjoining kitchen is light, spacious and has a dining table and six chairs. It has everything you would expect in a modern kitchen; oven, hob, large refrigerator, separate freezer, dishwasher, washing machine (with tumble drier function), microwave oven, kettle, toaster and two coffee makers. The kitchen has plenty of crockery and cutlery, cooking utensils, baking trays, saucepans, a wok, pots, pans and everything you need to make a family supper and eat in. We also have a flask and some sandwich boxes for you to make lunch and take it out with you (ideal if you are feeding a family).
A short but steep flight of stairs leads up to two bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower, with plentiful hot water. The basin has a mirror over it and the heated towel rail keeps the bathroom warm and cosy.
The large master bedroom has a king-size double bed and a single bed with large wardrobe, feature mirror and Victorian chest of drawers. It can sleep three people, but is usually used for two adults.
The second bedroom has two single beds (adult sized) with Victorian chest of drawers, hanging space for clothes and mirror. Both bedrooms have 'black-out' blinds so that you are not woken by early morning sun.
A cot and highchair are available on request. Bed linen and towels included.
A hairdryer, an iron and ironing board are provided, along with an umbrella.
A good choice of restaurants are within a 5 minute walk and there is a large Waitrose supermarket 10 minutes walk away in The Brunswick Shopping Centre. A smaller Co-Op supermarket is a convenient 3 minute walk.
This is an ideal holiday home for a family or friends looking to explore London from a central base.

We are a 15 minute walk to Kings Cross-St Pancras stations (tube and Eurostar trains to France). We will send you full directions when you book. - This apartment is on the second and third floor of a 200-year old house. If you have difficulty with stairs, it really isn't suitable as there are two flights to the entrance and a further flight to the bedrooms. Please try not to bring a car, the parking in London is awful. Public transport is excellent with underground (tube) stations Russell Square and Chancery Lane both 7 mins walk away. Buses are 3 mins walk away and of course, famous London black taxicabs are always available. You can walk to Covent Garden, St Pauls and many of the major sites, shops and entertainment in the West End. There is no outside space with this property, but for children, at the end of the street there is Coram's Fields, a delightful park with swings, slides, sand pit, farm animals and astroturf football pitches. For adults, Russell Square is a pleasant green space with a café, fountains and wildlife to provide a respite from life in Europe's largest city....moreless

John St is in the historic area of Bloomsbury in Central London. You're in the heart of London but away from the crowds. Nearest tube stations are Russell Square (6 min walk) and Chancery Lane (7 mins), but you'll often find it as quick to walk to many of the main attractions. The British Museum is a 10 min walk and Charles Dickens' House (he wrote Oliver Twist here), is 1 minute away. London's West End with its fabulous shopping (Oxford St, Regent St, Carnaby St), theatres, art galleries and landmarks (Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben) is close by. Covent Garden (street theatre, opera house and shopping piazza) is an easy walk (25 mins). Heading East, you can stroll around the City of London, Europe's financial centre with its famous buildings (St Paul's Cathedral, the Gherkin, medieval Tower of London, Tower Bridge). John St is close to Great Ormond Street Hospital, National Neurological & Neurosurgery Hospital, University College London, Kings College, London School of Economics, the British Library & Law Courts.

About the owner: This apartment is owned by Electric Marketing, a database marketing company set up in 1991 by Melissa Mackey. Electric Marketing's offices are on the ground and first floors of the building, the apartment is on the second and third floors. You will share a front door and hallway with our office team during weekdays, but no one will visit the apartment during your stay unless you come down to the ground floor and ask us for help. This means that there is always someone on site to help you if you have any problems eg light bulb needs replacing or something is broken. Equally we are aware that most people want to be allowed to enjoy their holiday in private and we won't visit unless there is a serious issue that needs to be fixed. If you have a problem at the weekend, our contact phone numbers are in a black folder of useful information in the living room.
Why the Owner Chose Bloomsbury (London, UK):
There is no doubt that John Street in Bloomsbury is a smart part of town, close to Grays Inn and full of barristers' chambers and legal firms. As well as the lawyers, our near neighbours are the Charles Dickens Museum, noted actors and artists as well as the ITV news studios on Grays Inn Road. John Street and adjoining Doughty Street are steeped in history as these houses have stood for 250 years. It is a safe and secure part of London, walking distance to the West End and to the City of London, close to shops and restaurants and yet quiet at night so that you can sleep easily. If you are coming to London for reasons other than pleasure, John Street is walking distance from Great Ormond Street Hospital, University College Hospital, British Library, London School of Economics and University College London.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
You are in the centre of London, close enough to walk to most of the places you'll want to visit, short bus or tube rides to other tourist must-sees, but this is a quiet, secure part of town with little night time traffic or noise. The most common phrases in our visitor's book are 'great location' and 'we'll be back'.
