We will be back!

  • 5 of 5

This house is cozy and well kept. Lots of room outside and in. Well stocked with the necessities. The location is great too. Very close to Ephraim and all the other adorable communities. Only wish there was a fire pit out back.

Loved the house and the location, only lacked a few small details to be perfect.

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house, which is cozy and cute, and the location which is iconic (up on the hill overlooking Ephraim Bay and Peninsula State Park). My observations are very minor, but might help future renters to have a perfect stay. The firewood was unseasoned (green), which is to say it was still very sappy when you tried to burn it. We made do the first few days with the sizzling sap but ended up buying an artificial log, which is not the idea in such a perfect setting. The coffee maker John left out was a Keurig and it took us a few days to find coffee pods in town we could use. (I am a writer and getting up at dawn with fresh coffee to write was an experience I missed those first two days.) We DID, on the last day, discover a drip maker hidden under the stairway but suspected it was John's personal coffee machine and weren't sure whether or not we were welcome to use it. Finally, maybe a few packets of hotel shampoo in the bathrooms would have been appreciated. These are small, knit picking details, I realize. Otherwise we wouldn't change a thing and we would have no problem recommending the house OR John as host.

Comfortable, roomy and attractive cottage

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our comfortable stay at this cottage in Ephraim. It is located on a quiet street, close walking distance to eateries and harbor views. It is clean, spacious, quaint yet comfortably furnished with modern amenities, including WiFi. Great for a family gathering. The owners provided good tips about local activities and clear instructions for use of the cottage.

Note that all bedrooms and two full baths are on the second floor. The first floor half-bathroom is in an outside area off the back porch. The room with bunk beds is a throughway to the master bedroom, and the master has a step up/down to be careful not to miss. There is a good kitchen that is conveniently outfitted for those who want to prepare home meals. I recommend taking a quick walk to the nearby Ephraim Coffee Lab for a great cup of coffee.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

House is centrally located, just one block away from the main thouroughfare, Hwy. 42. However, very peaceful and quiet. So much room! Very comfortable accommodations, and nicely appointed. Good kitchen size. Ample for our group. We felt fortunate to stay here, versus the crowded hotels and condos in Door Co. And so close to everything!

Unfortunately, we were unable to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful deck because it was a cold and rainy weekend. That would have been a bonus with all the nice patio furniture.

Fireplaces are great! Since the weather was dismal, it was nice to have them. There was plenty of good firewood.

Margaret was always available if I had any questions or concerns.

Hopefully we will return!

The Maher's home is so beautiful and very welcoming!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great trip in door county. The Maher's home is so perfectly located, charming clean and comfortable. There were 8 of us there and it was very roomy. Margaret was so helpful with suggestions on restaurants and activities, we had a great time. Will definitely be back!

5 minutes to restaurants, shops and lakefront!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience at the cottage. The location is perfect--just a 5 minute walk down to the main road, including the famous Wilson's restaurant/ice cream shop, yet it is still very quiet and peaceful at the cottage. All the character and charm of an old cabin yet beautifully rennovated. The downstairs living space is huge. The bathrooms are small but we found them manageable. Owners were easy to work with, and as it's their own house where they stay sometimes, it is clean, well kept up, and fully stocked with anything you might need, even the kitchen utensils, which we used a couple of times to cook dinner. This was our third annual trip to Door County and was our best lodging choice yet!
