2 bedroom, 1 bath home close to beach and downtown Marquette
This charming home was built in 1890 in Marquette’s historic east side neighborhood area. The home is 5 short blocks to Lake Superior beaches and walking/biking trails. It is under two blocks from the Third Street Shopping District which boasts several locally respected restaurants, brew pubs, shopping and art galleries. The Downtown District is within easy walking distance and has additional shopping, restaurants, brew pubs and the lower harbor area where most of our festivals take place. Staying at this home gives you the ‘local’ experience.
Marquette is a very biker friendly community with miles of trails to explore nearby. Guided mountain biking tours are available on request. There are year round events and activities to keep you busy during your stay regardless of the season.
The home consists of an updated kitchen that has every appliance any home would have. It is fully equipped so you can be as culinary as you like. The spacious bathroom has also been updated and offers a deep soaker tub/shower combination and radiant in floor heat. A full size washer & dryer are also housed within the space.
Entry, living room and bedroom furnishings are all brand new. Mattresses are also new. The home has a modern/contemporary style with some whimsical elements that complement the décor. The single level living makes watching your children easy as you have a full range of sight throughout the home. The home sleeps 4 in the two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed; the second bedroom has a double bed. The entry room has a sleeper sofa.
The back deck has an outdoor grill and dining set so you can enjoy dining al fresco, if you like. The backyard also has a standalone (locked) storage shed that you can use to store outdoor recreational equipment during your stay. The backyard is fenced so your children can play out back without concern for traffic or neighbors.
So, bring your suitcase and enjoy Marquette for a few days, a week, month or longer. Regardless of your length of stay, you’ll leave with memories that will make you want to return year after year.

About Patricia & Bruce Olson
Pat was born and raised in Marquette. Bruce attended college at NMU and MTU and fell in love with the area. After a 25 year absence, we returned to make Marquette our home once again. We love the outdoor beauty and the sense of community and pride by those that call Marquette home.
Patricia & Bruce Olson purchased this House in 2015
Why Patricia & Bruce Olson chose Marquette
We'd been looking for a vacation rental property for a while and when we saw this home, we knew we found what we were looking for. It's an ideal home for couples or a small family. The home is quaint while comfortably providing everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The proximity to all of the key attractions was perfect. You have ready access to Lake Superior, lower harbor where most of our summer festivals occur, bike trails that connect to almost 50 miles of trails that have put Marquette on the mountain biking map. You'll also find the university and hospital conventiently nearby. As a person who loves food and entertainment, we were also attracted to the homes proximity to several Marquette institutions: Vangos Pizza, Stuckos Pub & Grill, Casa Calabria Restaurant & Lounge, Thai House, Sweetwater Cafe, Blackrocks Brewery, Third Street Bagel, Das Steinhaus, Elizabeths Chop House, Ore Dock Brewing Company, Vierling Restaurant and more.
What makes this House unique
The modern, updated kitchen and bath appealed to our architectural tastes. The layout of the home works well for a rental home. The single level living makes oversight of your children easy as you have a full range of sight throughout the home. The kitchen is a fully functional kitchen and has every appliance I have in my own home. The radiant heated bathroom floor adds a touch of luxury that is very welcome during our cold winters. The outdoor shed gives guests an opportunity to store bikes, hockey equipment, etc. in a secured outbuilding.

Pat was wonderful to work with! The house was clean and had everything that we needed. The Wireless was great so that was helpful and the heated floors in the bathroom were awesome.
Sparkling clean and neat. Great location to downtown.
Very comfortable. Owner was very accommodating and prompt. Will definitely stay again.
Nice little house in a great location!
We enjoyed this little house immensely during our recent trip to Marquette. The updates are nicely done, the character of the old floors that seem to lean in all directions, the heated flooring in the bathroom and especially it’s location. We were able to walk to almost everywhere we wanted to go. I will definitely look at this property fist when we return to Marquette. My only suggestions would be to add a lamp in he front room and add a mirror somewhere other than in the bathroom, maybe one in each bedroom. Other than that we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay or nicer people to rent from.
this place is the perfect location!
This house is super clean and near everything in Marquette. Only a few blocks from the lake in one direction and a few to downtown in the other. It's near Northern Michigan University, too! The fenced back yard would be ideal for children. The neighborhood is quiet. You'll love this place! The host promptly returned my deposit as well.
A soft place to land....
Immaculate, renter friendly and the attention to detail that travelers appreciate. These owners have put a lot of thought into making this VRBO a welcome space and it shows. We plan to return and are happy to recommend this sweet little home to others.
This was our second stay in this home. It is perfect in every way for our family when we make the yearly trip to see family. The location is great and the home is clean and well stocked. It's comfortable and bright and cheery. The private backyard is awesome too. The hosts are readily available and very helpful.
The home is located 5 short blocks from the beach and bike trail system. Downtown shops, restaurants, breweries and festivals are also 5 blocks from the house. Third street restaurants, breweries and art galleries can be found just two blocks away in the village area. Northern Michigan University and UP Health Systems hospital facility are also nearby.
Marquette's summer season hosts festivals, farmers markets and numerous outdoor events not to mention miles of beautiful sand beaches along the shores of Lake Superior.
Winter days are filled with downhill and cross country skiing, snow biking, the annual UP200 dog sled race, the downtown showdown snowboard event, Noquemanon ski marathon and the polar roll snow bike race.
Whatever the season, Marquette has something for everyone!!.
