This charming home was built in 1890 in Marquette’s historic east side neighborhood area. The home is 5 short blocks to Lake Superior beaches and walking/biking trails. It is under two blocks from the Third Street Shopping District which boasts several locally respected restaurants, brew pubs, shopping and art galleries. The Downtown District is within easy walking distance and has additional shopping, restaurants, brew pubs and the lower harbor area where most of our festivals take place. Staying at this home gives you the ‘local’ experience.
Marquette is a very biker friendly community with miles of trails to explore nearby. Guided mountain biking tours are available on request. There are year round events and activities to keep you busy during your stay regardless of the season.
The home consists of an updated kitchen that has every appliance any home would have. It is fully equipped so you can be as culinary as you like. The spacious bathroom has also been updated and offers a deep soaker tub/shower combination and radiant in floor heat. A full size washer & dryer are also housed within the space.
Entry, living room and bedroom furnishings are all brand new. Mattresses are also new. The home has a modern/contemporary style with some whimsical elements that complement the décor. The single level living makes watching your children easy as you have a full range of sight throughout the home. The home sleeps 4 in bedrooms. The entry room accommodates two additional people on the sleeper sofa without interfering with activities in the living area.
The back deck has an outdoor grill and dining set so you can enjoy dining al fresco, if you like. The backyard also has a standalone (locked) storage shed that you can use to store outdoor recreational equipment during your stay. The backyard is fenced so your children can play out back without concern for traffic or neighbors.
So, bring your suitcase and enjoy Marquette for a few days, a week, month or longer. Regardless of your length of stay, you’ll leave with memories that will make you want to return year after year.

Pat was born and raised in Marquette. Bruce attended college at NMU and MTU and fell in love with the area. After a 25 year absence, we returned to make Marquette our home once again. We love the outdoor beauty and the sense of community and pride by those that call Marquette home.
Patricia & Bruce Olson purchased this house in 2015
We'd been looking for a vacation rental property for a while and when we saw this home, we knew we found what we were looking for. It's an ideal home for couples or a small family. The home is quaint while comfortably providing everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
The proximity to all of the key attractions was perfect. You have ready access to Lake Superior, lower harbor where most of our summer festivals occur, bike trails that connect to almost 50 miles of trails that have put Marquette on the mountain biking map. You'll also find the university and hospital conventiently nearby.
As a person who loves food and entertainment, we were also attracted to the homes proximity to several Marquette institutions: Vangos Pizza, Stuckos Pub & Grill, Casa Calabria Restaurant & Lounge, Thai House, Sweetwater Cafe, Blackrocks Brewery, Third Street Bagel, Das Steinhaus, Elizabeths Chop House, Ore Dock Brewing Company, Vierling Restaurant and more.
The modern, updated kitchen and bath appealed to our architectural tastes. The layout of the home works well for a rental home. The single level living makes oversight of your children easy as you have a full range of sight throughout the home.
The entry room has sufficient space to accommodate a sleeper sofa without interfering with activities in the living area. The kitchen is a fully functional kitchen and has every appliance I have in my own home. The radiant heated bathroom floor adds a touch of luxury that is very welcome during our cold winters. The outdoor shed gives guests an opportunity to store bikes, hockey equipment, etc. in a secured outbuilding.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Ohio Oasis this past weekend. Very comfortable and a well-thought out rental property. Nice bedding and comfortable beds. Fully stocked kitchen. Nice bathroom with heated floors and great shower head. The owners were wonderful to deal with and we'd repeat our stay at this property or one of their others in a heartbeat. Thanks for the great stay for our son's graduation.
Great house, super clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again. Very convenient location too.
Great place, close to downtown.
In the middle of a quiet subdivision and perfect location as it is close to downtown and NMU.
Pat and Bruce were very accommodating and I would definitely use them again.
Great place to relax after hiking, biking and enjoying the beautiful city of Marquette. This house is in a great location to downtown shops and restaurants as well as close to campus and parks. Would recommend this for a nice stop in a great city.
Needed a VRBO for a brief stay for two in Marquette. Wanted to be close to the downtown / 3rd and 4th Street areas and not pay a lot of money as we just needed something small. This location, and the property, were PERFECT for us. We were able to walk to restaurants and the downtown area and despite being right in town the location was very quiet. Property is in a residential area but so quiet. Two bedrooms, two "living rooms," single very large bathroom, and a nice, well laid out kitchen. The kitchen had all the required items - microwave, dishwasher, coffee-maker, blender (!), dishes, pots and pans, etc. Even a supply of coffee and some other basic items!! The home was SPOTLESSLY clean. The heated bathroom floor was a complete joy. Large fenced private back yard and grill which we didn't use, but would be great in the warmer months for sitting outside on the outdoor furniture to enjoy a meal. Needed to pickup a few beverages / snacks / milk and just a block away is a small party store so were able to walk there in just a few minutes to pick up what we needed. Arrived on Halloween and the owner had decorated the porch steps with pumpkins which was a really nice touch. If you're looking for a great location within walking distance to downtown and the local restaurants at a very reasonable price, this is it. We didn't walk to the beach, but recall from the listing that it's only a few blocks away.
Thank you for letting us stay at your VRBO! We really enjoyed it!
This charming home has been updated and well stocked with anything you would need. It was very neat and clean which was important to us. The kitchen is pretty large with a cute eating nook. The backyard is big and private. It is on a quiet tree lined neighborhood located just a few blocks from the lake or to downtown. The owners were friendly when we communicated with them. We will definitely return to this property when we visit Marquette again.
The home is located 5 short blocks from the beach and bike trail system. Downtown shops, restaurants, breweries and festivals are also 5 blocks from the house. Third street restaurants, breweries and art galleries can be found just two blocks away in the village area. Northern Michigan University and UP Health Systems hospital facility are also nearby.
Marquette's summer season hosts festivals, farmers markets and numerous outdoor events not to mention miles of beautiful sand beaches along the shores of Lake Superior.
Winter days are filled with downhill and cross country skiing, snow biking, the annual UP200 dog sled race, the downtown showdown snowboard event, Noquemanon ski marathon and the polar roll snow bike race.
Whatever the season, Marquette has something for everyone!!.
