About the Property
Immaculate solar home ideally suited for large groups. Chef's kitchen, open plan
This 3000 square foot solar equipped family home sleeps 10 pretty comfortably - obviously depending on the type of group that you are. The house has one queen bed, 3 twins, queen futon in the office/guest room, a few sofas, and 2 airbeds, so do your own analysis about whether that is appropriate for your group. It is a 1904 Structure that underwent total reconstruction in 2012, so every single item in the house is essentially brand new from the foundation to the solar panels. It is equipped with a gas fireplace, and luxurious radiant floor heating, and fantastic natural light and breezes make this home extremely comfortable year round.
The house is on the downslope side of the street, which means it is a reverse floor plan to capitalize on the views. The living spaces are up and the sleeping rooms are down, and there are only 3 steps to enter the dwelling. Enter into an expansive split entry foyer with built in seating, and ample coat closet space. Upstairs you will find a nearly 1000 square foot great room, with couch seating for 9, a chef's kitchen with island seating for 5, and a dining room with seating for 6. Additionally, there is a guest bedroom/office and a full bath on this floor. Exiting the great room you will find 1000 square feet of deck space with lounge chairs, and a dining table with umbrella. Expansive views of the SF Bay, Bay Bridge, SF skyline and the Port of Oakland make this a very tranquil setting.
The chef's kitchen is extremely well appointed and includes nearly everything one could want - food processor, waffle maker, Cuisinart, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, and most importantly a Vita-mix for your morning green smoothie!
Downstairs you will find the entertainment room with 48" flat screen equipped with Direct TV, Roku and Blu-ray Player, Foosball, games, kids toys, and generally a nice place to send the kids.
As you move along in the downstairs you will find bedrooms 2 and 3, which are ideal for the little ones in your party. 3 twin beds total, and large bedrooms with a shared full bath between them. Bedroom 3 opens out to the lower level patio and yard.
The master bedroom is over 400 square feet, and equipped with a queen bed, and 2 comfortable chairs for reading and relaxing in private. The master bedroom also opens out to the rear patio and yard. There is an expansive en suite bath with large walk in shower equipped with a rain head, and full soaking tub.
Our home is a nestled into a small slice of heaven in the dense San Francisco Bay Area, and ideally suited for regional and city visits, as everything the Bay Area has to offer is literally at your finger tips, yet a quiet respite awaits at the end of the day at our place.

This home is located in the absolute best part of North Berkeley. It is far enough up in the hills to be surrounded by trees, expansive views, wildlife, pleasant neighbors, chirping birds, and the peaceful serenity that the Berkeley Hills can provide. Yet it is also close enough to be only a 10 minute stroll from the World Famous Gourmet Ghetto - home to Chez Panisse, Cheeseboard, the original Peet's coffee, and large number of other local restaurants and attractions.

About the owner: I am a construction professional, built this place with my own two hands, and take extreme pride in the enjoyment my friends and family get out of spending time here. The millwork upstairs was salvaged from the original structure and was re-milled on site by myself. My wife and I are raising our children here, and looking to rent the dwelling while we are on vacations, and if we can find weekend renters so we can subsidize getting the kids out of town camping, skiing or surfing!

This property had sat empty on cribs for nearly 4 years, and was in dire need of someone to take over and complete the project.
