This property is nestled in a gorgeous development in the safe and convenient NE side of Tucson. We provide all the amenities to make your vacation relaxing and rejuvenating. The pool and spa are but a 2 minute walk from the front door. Gazing at the Tucson night sky from the spa after a day of touring can't be beat.
Sabino Canyon is the place to explore and learn about the desert and the natural beauty of the region. Ride the tram to the top and hike out or picnic at any of the little beaches along the stream under the cottonwoods. More hardy hikers will want to take the Bear Canyon trail up to Seven Falls and bask in the cool mountain pools and falls. Perhaps a foot massage and a gelato from Frost on your way home will be in order.
Tucson sunsets are spectacular. The best place to view from this location is probably the Loop Drive in Saguaro National Park East. Bring some wine and cheese or a pizza from Magpie's right along the way and bask in the panoramic view from Javelina Rocks.
Tucson abounds in great restaurants and some very close to the property include Renee's Organic Kitchen (featured in Taste of Baja as a premier organic/local food eatery), Poco & Mom's on Tanque Verde which has a great patio spot for brunch, El Charro on Kolb has a fantastic covered patio with views of the Catalina Mtns and terrific Mexican food (make sure to have a Carne Secca platter or try the chicken mole).
Tucson is a bike crazy city. There are bike lanes on many of the major streets & the River Park bikeway is fantastic. Park at Craycroft just south of River and bike or walk with restrooms, picnic spots, even bike repair hubs and air/pump stations along the path. You will want your camera as there are many great scenic spots.
El Tour de Tucson annual bike event has something for bikers of all levels or fans to enjoy.
Golfers - nearby Dorado and Forty Niners golf resorts are beautiful. Tucson has many world class courses you may want to try.
Bird watchers love this area as there are over 200 species in Sabino Canyon and the Madera Canyon birders paradise is a short drive south of the city. Relax and spot the hummers in the back yard while you sip your morning beverage or watch the hawks circling overhead as you soak up the rays by the pool.
There are many cultural activities in this vibrant city.
Symphony orchestra, blues or blue grass brunches, jam sessions with local musicians, out door concerts under the stars, world class entertainers and many more musical activities can be found. Check the Fox and Rialto theater schedules in advance & get tickets.
There are local theater groups as well as professional theater offerings.
Annually the Gem & Mineral Show is a month long internationally known event. Spend time picking through fossils, getting just the right piece of jewelry, admiring the worlds' elite mineral collections on display, or take a class in jewelry making. Shuttles will take you to most of the major venues during the show. You can't see it all!
Tucson's annual parade for the Day of the Dead is not to be missed. Bring your face paint and make something to honor and remember your lost loved ones.
Horse enthusiasts will want to check out the Tanque Verde Ranch and book a horseback ride in the desert. Rodeo week in February is a great time with rodeo events daily and the spectacular rodeo parade. Ladies new to rodeo should sign up for Chick's N Chaps and have a great day learning all about rodeo from behind the scenes while supporting local breast cancer services.
Tucson's funky 4th Avenue area merchant association hosts a semiannual street fair with artists from far and wide selling their wares, entertainment and food. La Indita is a gem of an eating place on 4th Ave with inexpensive true Mexican cuisine.
The annual Festival of Books at the U of A is another world class event hosted right here in March. Meet your favorite author, attend interesting talks, go to a book signing and buy more books as you stroll the beautiful grounds of the University.
Tucson's annual Native American Art Fair brings the most talented artists to the city. Native American made jewelry, paintings, basketry, pottery, wood carvings etc. Buy gifts for yourself and all your friends or just watch the performance artists and chat with people from many different tribes/nations and learn about their culture and beliefs.
Other Favorites: Di Grazia Gallery in the Sun, Miniatures Museum, Center for Creative Photography, and the "not to be missed" Sonoran Desert Museum. Drive up Mt Lemon, Day trip to Bisbee or Tubac. Stroll the Botanical Gardens or the Zoo.
Plan ahead or just come and relax in our comfortable home. We want you to enjoy your stay. We supply a basket of pamphlets, menus and maps for guest use. There is so much to do here and no way to describe it all. You need to see and experience Tucson and the Sonoran desert area for yourselves. Once you do, you will want to return again and again!
Year Purchased: 2014
About the owner: Linda & Nancy are originally from New England. After living on Cape Cod for many years, they grew tired of the bitter Winter cold and decided to look into a retirement home in the SW. This morphed into a "semi-retirement" home as they almost never wanted to return to the NE once they got here. Now they work and play in Tucson primarily but still have their roots and family back East. They love to share their excitement about the area with guests.
Why the Owner Chose Tucson, AZ, USA:
This is a second home in Tucson for us. We found that so many or our friends and family wanted to visit the area that we needed another place for them to stay for extended visits. They want to come so often and don't want to "be a burden" so they like to book the Casita as it is convenient to everything and close to our home. The area is safe, clean and bright and the grounds are maintained impeccably. Who can resist the pool and spa?
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Having travelled for many years, we understand what it feels like to stay in a place that feels "homey". We have gone out of our way to make Qué Bonita Casita as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The kitchen is fully stocked with utensils and cookware. Soft thirsty bath and pool towels are provided along with fine linens for the beds. We even provide comfy robes for guest use. Some pool toys and floats are provided for your enjoyment. Games and books are for your use. Take some quiet moments to just set on the glider out back, look off into the mountains and listen to the birds. Look thru the basket of local treasures for menus and maps or brochures for all our favorite places and activities. Treat yourselves to an evening under the stars in the spa before you turn in and dream about your next day's adventure.
