industry. The popular Mexican Novela, “Abismo De Pasion” was filmed
regularly just out the front door. Now, for the first time in over a century, this amazing property is available to be enjoyed as a vacation home. From the moment you drive up the cobble stone street in front of one of Merida’s historic churches, to the moment you step inside the door - something magical happens & you know you are truly somewhere special -

Escalera al Cielo is an architectural showcase in El Centro that's designed to enhance your vacation experience while in Merida. The main home allows guest the ultimate privacy by placing the master suite upstairs. The master is furnished with a king size bed and has it's own bathroom. Additional guest also have their privacy by enjoying the casita which is positioned at the rear of the property. The casita is furnished with double beds and has it's own private bathroom.

Enjoy the lush garden patio in the morning as the tropical birds fly over head and have your first cup of coffee. Or dine under the stars in one of the many outside areas of this incredible home. With this open floor plan there is never a lack of a breeze anytime of day. And just to make sure you rest comfortably, all bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. Don't forget the pool is always an inviting place to relax after a busy day whether exploring the city or ancient Mayan ruins! And for those of us who need stay connected to reality, WiFi is provided so you can stay up to date or turn on the 55 inch smart TV and catch the latest show on your Netflix account.

Other things to note-
We love children, but personally having small children, we can tell you this home is NOT suitable for small children. There are balconies, a 17 foot high metal staircase with open treads and no pool fence or pool alarms on the doors. For your own sanity, please no toddlers or smaller children.

Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very nicely done with large spaces for cooking and hanging out. The pool area is perfect to cool off and the casita is lovely. The balcony and patio upstairs are great to watch the sunrise or sunset or happenings at the church. Be prepared for very tall spiral staircase climb to the master suite and loud barking dogs next door. Not an issue for us but could be for some folks.

Once again, this place was amazing (and perfect). We spent everyday in the pool because of the hot weather. The coffee shop at the Barrio Vivo hostel across the street was a perfect place for morning espresso. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is within walking distance to Plaza Grande.

Most exciting experience of my life

My family and I came in Mexico for the first time. Merida was our first city to visit in a trip that included Merida, tulum and Valladolid. It was the most exciting experience of my life. Casa escalera is amazing! In reality the house is even better than the pictures posted. We enjoyed the city thanks to the central location , very close to the piazza grande e Santa Lucia. If you want to go further and see paseo de montejo or the Mayan museum just call an Uber, they are very fast convenient and cheap.. cheaper than a taxi. We loved the pool between the house and the casita. The yard is so beautiful with the flowers and trees. Nothing bad to report, just good things. I loved the taste of the decorations and furniture. The kitchen is wonderful… I cooked all the breakfasts in the mornings and it’s even better than my kitchen at home. It is exactly the house I would love to have for myself. I will go back again next time I travel back to the Yucatán. By the way … the air conditioning is working great and you need it just when you go to bed. We used more the big ceiling fans that are all over the house and in the casita. The pool is big enough to swim and is not shallow. I give 5 stars also for cleanliness and for the all inclusive price! Fantastic quality for an even fantastic price! Thank you so much to the host!!

Absolutely loved and enjoyed this Beautiful Casa ! Loved the neighborhood, felt like a Local ! Nice easy walk to town through sweet little neighborhoods ! The Casa is absolutely unique and gorgeous! My Friends enjoyed the privacy of the upstairs master ! I loved staying in the Casita ! The Kitchen is well stocked etc ! The Gardens and outdoor areas are really nice ! Used the Pool everyday! Beautiful home

We loved the private pool, lounge chairs and the lush green trees. There seemed to be a bit of an ant problem around the pool and a handful of them sneaking into the kitchen. The AC unit in the bedroom in the main house was a must and we enjoyed it very much! Lots of hot water and water pressure! We couldn’t seem to find extra towels or wash cloths since what was provided wasn’t enough (one wash cloth for us to share). We felt very safe with three doors + paddle locks to keep us in! The church directly across the street was beautiful and we loved the ringing of the bells! There was always room to park on the street or in one of the few stalls in front of the church!

This place was amazing! You walk in the door and you are in another world. Loved it.

Everything was clean. The beds were comfortable, excellent hot water showers, huge kitchen, had Netflix on television, loved the location. I am a huge walker, so I felt very comfortable walking into town. I felt very safe walking by myself and I am 67 and a woman. We had a wonderful taxi driver who lived a few doors away. it was so much cheaper to do that than pay for tours and he was flexible with times. his name is Sergio. you can get his number from the owner. We ate from several restaurants near by that were delicious and also went in town. We made breakfast every morning in the kitchen. It was so nice to come home and swim in the pool. I did laps, others just stood in the pool talking. Very spacious and comfortable. Would recommend it to two couples like we were or a family with kids. The second home on the other side of the pool was perfect.

Classic Elegant Spanish Colonial

It is difficult to describe the architectural style until you experience it for yourself. We had to make an unexpected trip to Merida and we were not looking forward to the journey but one step into Casa Escalera took all our stress away. It is truly a magical place!

Why they chose this property

Knowing several individuals over the last decade that have told me how amazing Merida was, I knew it was finally time to go for a visit. In January of 2018 I flew our family down for a week in the city. I can honestly say we were not prepared for how amazing the city is. The people are so nice and welcoming, the food is fantastic, the architecture is brilliant and there's so much to do!! We immediately fell in love with Merida and knew this was the city we will eventually retire to. The day before we left we toured a few homes for sale and Casa Escalera al Cielo was the last home we viewed. When we walked into the home my wife and I knew immediately this was the home for us - we couldn't get the smiles of our face. And the location is AMAZING!!! Being able to walk to everything is huge, but having a home directly in front of a beautiful park and historic church from the early 1700's is magical. At night when everything is lit up, you have to pinch yourself to make sure you're not dreaming. Step back in time and enjoy an amazing home, on a peaceful town square in the heart of the historic downtown.

What makes this property unique

Merida is a truly magical city and the historical downtown is amazing! Casa Escalera al Cielo is right in the middle of it all so you can walk wherever you'd like to go! La Ermita is a quaint area of the El Centro with beautiful cobblestone streets and underground utilities. Directly across the street from the home is Parque de La Ermita as well as the historic church from the early 1700's - La Ermita de Santa Isabel. Just a short walk 7 blocks north you'll find yourself in the heart of the city at the Plaza Grande which is surrounded by numerous cultural centers, museums, & governors palace.
