Bright main floor in a historical palace
Fascinating apartment with large rooms where the ancient furniture is combined with the artwork of the owner, a well known Italian painter. The atmosphere is elegant and aristocratic, with a twist of unique and unconventional style.
The apartment features two beautiful bedrooms and three bathrooms, a large sitting room full of light where guests can gather, relax and enjoy their time in an authentic Venetian home.
Capriccio Veneziano is fully equipped in houseware, linen and all the necessities to make your visit comfortable. The small kitchen, recently fully renovated, is very functional and adjoined to the dining room.

An enchanting, art-filled home that provides a wonderfully unique and magical experience.
Our family of five enjoyed our stay here over Thanksgiving immensely. Our two younger daughters were thrilled to sleep in the secret loft. My husband and I spent many late night hours sipping wine, studying the art, and pondering the life of the artist and homeowner. This is truly a fascinating place, full of character and eclectic charm. We were honored to be guests here.
This apartment was beautifully and eclectically decorated with artwork and antiques. It was a delightful home-away-from-home for two couples and is in a quiet location. It is close to a grocery store and within walking distance to the San Toma vaporetto stop and many restaurants. We made arrangements easily with Cristiana (Laura's daughter) for pickup and drop off by water taxi directly to Corte Amaltea from the Venice train station. I would return to this apartment and recommend it for friends travelling together. The only drawback was that access to the master bedroom was through a narrow hallway that encompassed one of the bathrooms and the washing machine.
A fascinating property in exotic Venice
This is a very interesting property. My husband and I stayed here for three nights with another couple. The home is located in an out-of-the-way square on the lovely San Polo island, not a touristy area at all. The home is chock-full of interesting and beautiful art and furniture. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen is tiny but it was adequate for us because we only ate breakfast in. There is a nice breakfast area. There are several bathrooms and one shower. We used the wash machine and the dry rack.
It is close to the San Toma vaporetto stop but it's very easy to get lost going to and from. There is a Conad's grocery story near the home. There are several good restaurants nearby. Nothing is too far in Venice. We bought the 72 hour vaporetto pass and used it a lot. Christiana was responsive to our needs throughout the process.
This is a quirky place so if you are looking for a predictable hotel-room experience, this is not for you. If you are willing to be flexible, this place is worth it for the unique experience.
Fantastic absolutely perfect
Perfect location, beautiful home which is also very comfortable and the owner spoilt us with lots of lovely treats on arrival it was so wonderful we will be back again next year can't recommend it highly enough.
It has taken me a while to send my review because it’s sometimes difficult to describe dreams. My friends and family came together for my 50th birthday at the end of May for 20 wonderful days. My and Cristiana’s email exchanges were some of the most pleasant I ever had with someone I’ve never met. She put me at ease with every question and concern I had. There were no issues or problems while we were there but she checked in to see how things were going and to give us a heads up when the housekeeper was coming, who was also very lovely to us. The apartment is perfect. Necessities are covered, everything works. But that’s not what the apartment is about. It’s not about form and function; it’s heart, passion and beauty that trump all here. The place is an extension of Venice itself: beauty reigns and the past is honored in this home of a Venetian artist and her family. I was moved every time I walked in the door, amazed that anyone would open up a home like this to citizens of the world. But this is what the artist chooses to give of herself to the world: a beautiful setting borne from her past and her work as an artist while we live the day-to-day life in modern Venice. With each turn of the head and sideways glance, new and glorious images appeared. Then the frame would expand and I would delight in how perfectly thought out it all was. My husband and I awoke every morning to a painting of an angel. We stood still at midnight and watched sparkling moons danced across the dining room wall and ceiling. And we sat quietly in the sitting room as the light at dusk streamed in from the huge windows. The longer we stayed, the more we fell in love. We were struck by how coming “home” to this apartment made our daily outings only half of our Venetian experience. We easily fell into a daily routine. In the mornings, we drank espresso together in the sitting room. We hung laundry out the window, which in the act itself makes the place feel like home - and only one sock fell the entire time! - and was easily retrieved. We toasted with Prosecco before going out for dinner and shopped for groceries at a store literally 45 seconds away. The location is ideal. It’s an easy walk to the Rialto Bridge, where you can also reach Canneregio and Castello in minutes. The Scuola di San Rocco and the Frari church are less than 3 minutes away (do not miss!) Dorsoduro and the Zattere a 15 minute walk and there is always the vaparetto stop just 2 minutes away. Gorgeous experience.
Very nice stay in a good location
We had a nice stay in Venice and enjoyed San Polo. Everything was very good for our stay. The apartment is well located and well stocked with everything that we needed. The layout for 2 couples was a bit less than ideal. The master bedroom was nice but the second bedroom choice is a small low loft. Good for kids but not for adults. Other than that we had a very nice stay and enjoyed our stay very much.
Hi Anthony, we are glad that you found our apartment well located and well stocked and that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are sorry that you were disappointed by the second bedroom which you found not adapted for a second couple. Our apartment layout description does specify that in the second bedroom -next to the master bedroom- the beds are set-up as twin beds. This bedroom is 20 sqmt large and the ceiling height is 4,5 mt, therefore we are surprised that you consider it a small low loft. The beds are set-up as twin beds to accomodate the majority of our guests who prefer separate beds but we can change to a double bed set-up if our guests request it in advance.
Capriccio Veneziano is ideally located in the center of Venice, 3 minutes walk from the Frari Basilica and 10 minutes from the Rialto bridge, but out of the main tourist stream. The apartment overlooks the small square " Corte Amaltea", tucked as a secret hiding place in the heart of one of the most beautiful and interesting cities in the World. The Palazzo is excellently located because Piazzale Roma (car, bus and taxi terminal) can be reached with a 10 minutes walk and the railway station is within 15 minutes walk . Also, the nearest vaporetto stop "San Toma'" can be reached with a 5 minutes walk.
