Sugar Shack is a beautiful beach home with wrap around 3rd floor balcony with spectacular beach and lake views. It has amazing sugar white sand private beach access just steps across the street. It is in Old Florida Beach, a private gated community, located halfway between Destin and Seaside. Old Florida Beach has a community swimming pool that was completely renovated last year and a dock for fishing on Draper Lake in addition to the Gulf.
Enjoy the open and spacious design of this Gulf front second tier home on a coveted corner lot, directly across the street from neighborhood beach access in Old Florida Beach. Watch the sun set from the top of the beach access, which enjoys one of the most amazing elevations and scenic vistas along the entire Gulf Coast. This is an extremely deep beach allowing plenty of room to spread out as well as a great spot for children to swim in the outflow of Draper Lake.
Sugar Shack's large lot is bordered on its west side by a large neighborhood preserve, on which nothing is to be built and a new community pool next to that. Draper lake dock is just around the corner.
The interiors are bathed in soft sunlight from its southern exposure. Its open floor plan includes a nicely updated kitchen and master bath. Enjoy updated furnishings, new luxury matresses and bedding. It is in a family friendly, quiet, gated neighborhood on the widest private beach along the emerald coast.
This newly renovated, updated home boasts a huge master suite with king luxury mattress and second floor balcony. The second bedroom has a king luxury mattress and adjacent full bath and balcony. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances and fridge with ice maker and filtered water. All appliances and cook ware you may need are provided, including Kerig and traditional coffee maker, blender, toaster oven, hand mixer. It has a breakfast area with counter seating for 8 for family breakfasts. The beautiful dining room seats 8-10 (leafs can be added). There are new HD flat screens in all bedrooms except the bunkroom. It has secure WiFi internet and cable. There is a brand new outdoor shower and gas grill. Bikes and toys are available in our large detached garage. Our community is 3 short blocks off 30-A and 27 miles of bike path. There is a 2 car garage and plenty of parking in a large driveway. Buddy's ice cream is a quick bike ride up the street, while Sea Side and Water Color are short drive down 30-A.
We love love love this beach! Old Florida Beach is a perfect spot away from busy beaches, yet less than 5 miles away from Water Color/ Sea Side and many hot spots along 30-A. Located 1 mile from The Shops at Gulf place; you can walk, bike or drive to coffee shops, great boutiques, pizza, restaurants with live music, local art shops and summer concerts on the green.
Karin Schwob purchased this house in 2015
Our private beach has an inlet from Draper Lake which is perfect for kids swimming, catching crabs and fish and digging in the sand. Set up chairs between calm lake water and the beautiful emerald coast ocean and you are set for the perfect day at the beach. We have been coming here annually for 10 years and think it is the perfect vacation spot.
We've stayed in the beach house 3 years now, with other family members staying in other homes in OFB. Great neighborhood for family reunions!
Our large family of 6 adults and 5 kids under 7 had a wonderful spring break at Karin's lovely beach house. First of all, Karin was so responsive before, during and after our stay (she even mailed me a bag of expensive kitchen stuff that I accidentally left behind) which made our stay even more comfortable. My security deposit ($1000 is a lot, but I get it) was refunded promptly.
I loved the location of the house. Next door is a community pool and across the street is the path to the beach. No busy streets to cross! And the neighborhood is gated which to me is always a plus.
The house itself fit my family perfectly. One bedroom at the top level for me had gorgeous views and ocean sounds. It has a sleeper sofa which wasn't the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in but the peace and quiet made that not a big deal. The families with kids were all on the 2nd floor and everyone slept great! The bedroom on the main floor was perfect for my daughter who doesn't have kids.
All in all this is one of my favorite 30a vacation homes that we've stayed in. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks so much Karin!
Our family of 8 (2 adults, 4 kids, 2 grandparents) enjoyed a weeklong stay in October last year. The house itself was great, it was very clean and felt like a modern home just at the beach. The downstairs floorplan is open which was nice so we didn't feel disconnected from each other, but the rooms on the 2nd floor were isolated enough that we could have privacy when wanted.
The kitchen was very nice and worked well for the cooking and prepping that we did. The spigot and outdoor shower were nice for rinsing before going inside. We didn't use the 3rd floor but it has a great view of the beach from the balcony.
The owner was nice and easy to work with and no problem getting the deposit back. The only downsides to our stay weren't the house itself but where it is. The neighborhood itself is very nice and is gated so we felt fine if the kids went around on their own. It is in a great location relative to other amenities around. We were looking forward to using the pool but it apparently was being overhauled as it was totally dug up. That was a bummer! We like the beach, but with little ones it is nice to have access to a pool too. We also found that the beach access was a bit tough on the grandparents. There are a lot of steps to go down and no real way to get around it to get access near the house. Might also be tough if you like to cart a bunch of beach swag in a wagon or something similar. I would have rated 5 stars otherwise.
The Sugar Shack is a well appointed, spacious home that served as the perfect destination for our family vacation.
It is comfortably yet beautifully furnished.
There are bikes and beach equipment provided in the garage, which entertained the kids when we weren't enjoying the beautiful Santa Rosa beach right outside the door.
We can't wait to return!
We have stayed at Sugar Shack twice his summer and really enjoyed the area! House is very well decorated and felt like home. The owner is very accommodating. We would definitely recommend Sugar Shack!
This is a beautifully decorated beach home with water views and very easy beach access. Was there with 8 adults, and we all were extremely comfortable, with plenty of room for all in beautiful bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Already planning a trip back with the kids! This beach is in a great location with easy access to restaurants and nearby towns. Loved the Sugar Shack!!
Beautiful, huge, sugar white sand beach in private gated community minutes from shops, restaurants, bike and jogging trails along scenic 30-A. The community pool is 50 yards away.
