Ubicazione: Highland House Vacation Rental si trova a circa 30 minuti di auto dall'ingresso principale del Parco Nazionale di Yosemite ea 7 miglia dalla città di Gold Rush di Mariposa. La cabina si trova a pochi passi da un piccolo negozio di campagna e dall'altra parte della strada dalla fermata dell'autobus che porta i viaggiatori da e verso Yosemite. L'altitudine è di 2.500 piedi in pini e su un'insenatura stagionale con vita selvaggia e una varietà di uccelli.

Storia: La cabina era la casa di Newell Chamberlain, fondatore della città di Midpines. Ha pubblicato articoli e The Call of Gold - True Tales on the Gold Road to Yosemite, un libro sull'estrazione dell'oro nell'area durante gli anni '30.

Sistemazioni: La cabina è dotata di cucina con forno, piano cottura, microonde, doppio lavandino, frigorifero, pentole, padelle, utensili, teiera, caffettiera, tostapane e molto altro. C'è una lavatrice e asciugatrice nella lavanderia. La zona giorno ha una zona pranzo con vista sulla foresta e un soggiorno con una splendida vista sul torrente dell'orso e sulla foresta circostante. Wi-Fi e accesso a Internet sono forniti.

Posti letto: La cabina ha due camere da letto al piano inferiore e una camera da letto e soppalco al piano superiore. Al piano inferiore, ci sono due bagni completi. La camera da letto 1 ha un letto matrimoniale e un ampio salotto, la camera da letto 2 ha un letto completo e un bagno privato. La camera da letto 3 ha un letto matrimoniale e il soppalco ha due letti singoli. Le camere dispongono di armadi e cassapanche per l'abbigliamento e la conservazione. Lenzuola e articoli di carta vengono forniti insieme a detersivo per bucato, sapone e shampoo. In cucina troverai zucchero, farina, caffè, tè, olio, alcune spezie, detersivo per piatti, asciugamani di carta, ecc.

Ristoranti e negozi locali: diversi ottimi ristoranti si trovano a sette miglia. Un negozio di campagna è raggiungibile a piedi. Pioneer Market, un negozio di alimentari a servizio completo, si trova a Mariposa (7 miglia).

Dated , mice droppings in kitchen drawer near stove , we didn’t use the double ovens but did look in need of cleaning , blankets in large room upstairs were dirty , mattresses need to be replaced specially the one in the downstairs bedroom , the bathroom in the hallway could use some cleaning in the tub area it has some mold and tub needs New caulking , carpets could use some cleaning .I was happy to see the kitchen had plenty of electrical appliances for our use , dining room had plenty of space for all 8 of us , and also has the eating area by the bar to seat 4 people,Leaving room had plenty of seating .This are my observations and hope they help You in some small way .Thank you !!

We stayed here during our visit to Yosemite. It is about 35 minutes from the west entrance of the park. The kitchen was well stocked. The Pioneer market is 10 minutes away so we cooked in dinner for 2 nights. The prices at Pioneer Market were very reasonable for a vacation town. It was great to have a washer and dryer and laundry detergent was provided. The common spaces were very spacious and the cabin itself was charming. The bathrooms have a bit of an odd setup, but has everything you need. The host was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again if we visit Yosemite.

Yosemite trip.

Good Points.1. Reasonably priced.2. Convenient to the park.3. Comfortable for the 5 adults on our trip.4. Convenient to stores and restaurants.5. Excellent access to WiFi and cable.6. Host was always accessible and provided useful information prior to our trip.7. Interior of the building was neat and clean.Bad Points1. Interior of property is in need of updating and is not represented well by the pictures online.2.Landscaping of the lot was not well kept and was in need of maintenance.3. Surrounding areas did not present themselves well.Summary.This property fit our needs well because we were gone early and came back later in the day. Don't expect the property to look identical to the pictures online but as stated, it fit our needs very well. The host is a great asset to this property. Always responds and provides important information on the local area.

Nice location about 45 minutes from Yosemite. Peaceful setting with trees, barbeque, nice back porch.

Half Dome Adventures

While I am months behind on sharing this, it's important I do so! My husband won permits to hike Half Dome and we invited some friends to join us for the long weekend. This location was perfect! It was close to a small grocery and town so we could enjoy access to cook food at the house and try some new restaurants while not being so far from the park that we had to be awake at a truly horrific hour to get started. The house was clean, had plenty of space, was cozy (we all enjoyed relaxing after the hike) and all six of us had decent privacy/space so we weren't tripping over each other. It was amazing to have the full kitchen and plenty of comfortable spots to sit. Bed were comfortable, which anyone who has travelled a decent amount can attest, that is not always a guarantee. The owner was perfectly pleasant to chat with and provided all the necessary information and granted us privacy as well. We will gladly be staying here in the future on our next adventure to the park with friends.

Far below expectations

We stayed 15 minutes before deciding to leave and get a hotel. We found the location and property very depressing…not at all what we were expecting. If you are just looking for someplace to rest your head at night then setting out all day long, then this may be the place for you. But if you are expecting to enjoy some time sitting outside, relaxing and enjoying the view then I’d suggest looking elsewhere. I was unable to get into the VRBO app to cancel the reservation but a refund would only have been given if someone else had rented (highly unlikely at the last minute) Inside the house appeared clean with a well supplied kitchen and the owners were easy to get in touch with. Just a shabby depressing environment.

Grande maison chaleureuse, mais un peu ancienne et pas très proche de Yosemite.

Très grande maison, bonne literie. L'ambiance est chaleureuse avec beaucoup de bois, mais on sent que la maison est ancienne et nécessiterait un peu de rafraichissement (moquette). Dommage aussi que l'extérieur ne soit pas mieux aménagé... Dans notre famille de 5 nous avons apprécié notre séjour. C'est spacieux, la buanderie est appréciable aussi

Spacious house nearby Yosemite

The house is spacious and well equipped. We had everything we need. The house is directly located at the 140 leading into Yosemite, so perfect for visits into the NP, the traffic is a bit noisy in the night and morning. It was too hot to sit on the terrace, but there are two and also chairs besides the creek.

Short Stay

Rustic, huge place, well appointed. Plenty of room for 3 adult couples or a huge family. Beds were comfortable. Could use some better pillows, but they we not bad. House is very close to the main highway, so lots of road noise well into the evening. This is a very wild area, in terms of outdoors. That said, the outside area around the home is poorly manicured, though that didn't stop us from enjoying it and the beautiful crystal-clear stream running thru the back area. The place is about a 5-minute drive back to Mariposa, that has plenty of cool dining options. It's about an hour drive to Yosemite Valley, mostly along the Merced River, which is amazing. In general, we felt we made a good choice staying here and would stay again.

Family trip to Yosemite

We had a good visit- the house was well stocked with towels, blankets, kitchen tools, etc. We never figured out the drip coffee maker, but the keurig filled in and was well stocked. Washer and dryer were also handy. It was great to have a large dining room table we could all eat at comfortably.

Wonderful Cabin!

My elderly uncles stayed here for 10 days and had a great time! They "forgot" to check out on the designated date and the hosts were wonderful about accommodating them and making sure they got to their next destination. They loved the roomy, clean and cozy cabin which was well located for their Yosemite adventures. This cabin made all the difference in how they enjoyed the park. It was world's apart from staying in a hotel room.
