Cozy by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

My wife, Carla and I were pleasantly surprised at how "together" Sea Escape was for our stay. The owner, Seamus, had a nice bottle of Chardonnay to great us and the home was fully equipped for any type of cooking you could imagine. The view was outstanding and the hot tub ready to go!! Seamus had built a perfect fire setup and we used it on the second night to toast our 20th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect setting.

This home is furnished for comfortable lounging and we did a lot of that!! Highest recommendation.

Like a fantasy

The pics don't lie. Beautifully situated, sunsets and moonrises, lulling ocean wave sounds. Tranquil. Felt millions of miles away from home. Very comfortable. Excellently appointed kitchen for this foodie group. Simply wonderful.

We truly enjoyed our say at Seascape. The house was amazing and we would recommend this to anyone wanting a get away in the area

Very clean

Breath taking view from the expansive back porch. We saw whales almost every day.

The kitchen was so well equipped. Not only was there all of the cooking utensils and appliances needed, but the basic cooking essentials were supplied. The cabinet was filled with every spice you could possible need, along with olive oil, vegetable oil, vinegars, flour, and sugar. Shamus even supplied coffee and popcorn.

2 bathrooms, both were very nice and well supplied with towels and accessories.

We enjoyed the hot tub; it was great place to watch the sun go down.

The bed was even more comfortable than my bed at home. I don't think I have ever slept that well.

The setup and décor of the house was comfortable, warm, and inviting.

Must do:

Walk down to Greenwood beach. It is a rugged natural beach but very beautiful

Eat at Elk Cove Inn. The food was amazing and the sunset view was perfect. Marie serves a gourmet dinner only 3 nights a week, so make sure to call for reservations.

Spend a day Mendocino

Pacific Rim Winery is worth the drive. The wine is very good and the view is phenomenal. Plan to get a bottle of wine, find a comfortable spot, an enjoy the afternoon.

Visit both lighthouses. Point Cabrillo and watch the seals. Point Arena and go up to the top of the lighthouse, it is just beautiful.

Anderson Wine Valley is excellent. Great Pinots and Chards. We found it was easier to drive north and then get on 128 to go the wine valley as opposed to taking the local roads. The local road was very windy and narrow.

Our favorite wineries were Goldeneye, Navarro, and Handley (best white we have ever tasted)

Spend the day at Hendy State Park and walk as many trails as you can. The Redwoods here are huge, these were the largest we saw on our trip.

Things to note:

No cell service at the house but the internet is pretty good. There is a landline at the house

If you need groceries the nearest "big" town is Fort Bragg, the other towns have small store with the basics. There is nice grocery in Mendocino.

The roads are very windy, so a 20 mile drive is usually a 45 minute trip

There is not a lot to do close to the house, be prepared to drive each day

For a relaxing vacation, we would recommend this home in this area.

Loved everything about this property, its location, design, decor, and provisions.

  • 5 of 5

Our SeaEscape experience was perfect, meeting and exceeding each and every one of our expectations. The property was situated beautifully on the cliffs above the Pacific just south of the charming village of Elk. This location served as an optimal base for our daily excursions along the coast, the vineyards of the Anderson Valley, and exhilarating hikes through the Redwoods.

SeaEscape is beautifully-designed inside and out. The interior spaces including the kitchen, dining area, living room, and bedrooms are well-appointed and comfortable, with spectacular views of the Pacific coastline from both the ground level and second floor. The huge deck provided an additional dining space, a separate lounging area, and the ideal location for a hot tub. Two of the bedrooms had balconies offering further vistas of the ocean, coastline, and vast night views of more stars than I've seen in a long, long time.

The house itself was extremely well-equipped with everything we needed to prepare and enjoy our meals inside and out. In fact, utensils, equipment, supplies, and provisions were abundant and very well-organized and intuitively stored. Consumables and disposables were abundant.

We received the most wonderful welcome phone call from Seamus early our first evening, just making sure that we had arrived safely and found everything to our liking. This connection with the owner made it feel as if we were spending time at the home of very generous, close friends.

Our mornings were glorious, our days full, and our nights romantic. Out of countless details well-conceived, thoughtfully-executed, and impeccably maintained, the ONLY feature that could be improved was the speed of the internet connection.

We stayed at SeaEscape for one week, traveling inland for a second week at another VRBO property. We would have been even happier to spend our second week at Sea Escape as well. Our gratitude to Seamus and Natalia for everything that made our time in their home the most exquisite getaway.

A true gem on the coast.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Sea -Escape. It was the best place that one could ask for exactly as I've read in all the reviews. If this house doesn't have it than you won't need it. Lots of great food and wine in the area. The views and sounds are hard to describe. Absolutely amazing house and area.Shamus couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We will return. Thank you Shamus for the best honeymoon that any could have. Don't miss out on this rental.
