About Steve Alford
My name is Steve Alford. I have lived in Memphis all my life but have always had a presence in Arkansas. I have spent many days on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. I fell in love with Northwest Arkansas and would ride my motorcycle in the area a couple of times a year. I also made a yearly cabin trip to the area in the fall. That is where I saw and fell in love with House on the Rock.
Steve Alford purchased this Cabin in 2015
What makes this Cabin unique
Most guests have fun just exploring the property and it's unique features. Enjoy the Rock Bluff and Cave on the property. Directly across the street are the White River views and City Rock Bluff. one of the most photographed places in Arkansas. The elevated screened patio has two doggy doors and a beautiful view of the property.

Great place to stay!
We really enjoyed this cabin and all there was to explore on the property! We will be back!
Can't say enough!
OMG! Where to start??
Upon arrival, we were greeted with calls from a Bob White, cows lowing across the 'holler', and an occasional other unknown bird - absolutely NO other sounds! We saw deer and a Blue Jay later during our stay.
It is absolutely pitch black at night - good for star gazing or watching a meteor shower if there is one.
There are lights in a tree in front of the cabin, but they don't work. There's also a yard light on the garage, but we liked it totally dark. We saw a few bats hunting pesky bugs after dark. (Love!)
Blooming wildflowers (honey suckle, bridal bush, wild roses, ferns, pink ladies, ferns, etc. everywhere)
The view is astounding and the location is very private - but still plenty close enough to town if you need anything.
Only an occasional car went past on the gravel road, but not visible at all from the cabin.
We enjoyed the fireplace (still chilly at night); we had breakfast on the screened in patio while enjoying a nice thunderstorm & rain.
The satellite goes out during storms, which is very typical.
Wide plank hardwood floor is awesome; you don't see that much, anymore.
Unique lighting over the dining table and living room is very cool!
LOVE how the builders allowed for the big wrap around deck to be built AROUND the tree instead of cutting it down!
Appliances look new and are sparkling clean; plenty board games and card games available, HUGE beautiful cedar dinning table, lots of outlets for electronics, a desk for laptop/work station (LOVE!; many do not have this!), very nice & cozy little balcony next to the upstairs bedroom which offers an awesome view of the little water fall after a good rain in the morning, and a great spot to sit with your morning coffee - and no worries about getting dressed first, because the ONLY way anyone would see you is from a drone! Seriously! Lol!
The a/c system actually makes the upstairs cooler than downstairs.
Just across the road, in easy walking distance is the fabulous 200' high overlook of the White River.
The cabin is VERY well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, cork remover, muffin pan, bread pan, mixing bowls, even coffee, sugar, filters, two kinds of coffee makers, marshmallows!, flour, spices, salt, pepper, condiments in the fridge and even a little charcoal & starter fluid!
Steve was very accommodating; he provides ideas and suggestions for nearby sights, activities and places to eat out if you're inclined. He responded very quickly to texts.
Perfect family getaway
We enjoyed our stay at calico rock, it was so peaceful and relaxing. Steve was very nice and helpful, he even sent us ideas of things to do around town and a list of restaurants. We highly recommend this house if you’re looking to unplug and unwind. It was wonderful.
Absolutely perfect getaway
Everything was exactly as described and the location is beautiful, unique, and peaceful in a way that can't be fully appreciated until you are there. We only had our family of four but a larger group would easily be comfortable here too. Host Steve was so responsive, friendly and helpful. Wouldn't change a thing! Highly recommend.
Great mini vacation
We only had the weekend, but this was a great place to get away from it all and spend time reconnecting with family.
