Picturesque Lakefront Retreat in Belgrade Lakes

Enjoy private 200 feet of waterfront with two beaches, expansive new dock with bench, swim float, and spectacular sunsets at this gorgeous retreat on Messalonskee Lake. Located in the premier Belgrade Lakes Region, it is close to Colby College, Snow Pond Arts Center, hiking, fishing and all nature has to offer. The western facing one-story house features a stunning great room with high ceilings and ceiling fans, new split-type air-conditioner/heater, a large master bedroom with en suite bath, and a huge walk-in closet. The patio with lounge set is perfect for entertaining and sunset viewing. A large campfire area with new Solo firepit, hammock, two kayaks, standup paddleboard/sit-on-top kayak and canoe are available for your enjoyment. It has everything you need!

Our Messalonskee Lake retreat has been a beloved vacation spot for multiple generations of our family, creating cherished memories over the years. Please enjoy and treat it as you would a family home.

Everything is provided for a perfect lakeside vacation with family and friends. The one level house with no steps is ideal for all needs.

Guests will have access to a canoe, two kayaks, a standup paddleboard/sit-on-top kayak and life vests. Two sandy beaches take you out to shallow wading areas that gradually get deeper for swimming. Enjoy loons, eagles, and osprey from our private dock. The lake is a great fishing spot, home to a large variety of fish including small mouth bass, brown trout and pike. Boats, jet skis and other water toys can be rented at maineboatrental.com and the public launch is close by. The rear lot is large enough for soccer and other field games. The side lot has access to a second beach, hammock, fire pit and more open area.

We provide linens, towels and large beach towels. Laundry detergent and iron are available. We have soap, shampoo and conditioner, and blow dryer for your use.

Great camp with sunset views

What a wonderful space for sharing with 3 married couples who are longtime friends! The space was warm and generous for each couple and perfect for making our meals together! It is centrally located and perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. We would return in a heartbeat!

Rest and Relaxation

We love the quiet setting for true relaxation for body, soul, and spirit. The neighborhood is amazing. Very friendly people. The sound of the waves, birds, rain and just the wind in the trees is so refreshing. Can't wait to go again!

Wow! Double Wow.

Outstanding house and location. Loved every minute of our stay from the moment we drove in. The house was perfect, and the lake was crystal clear and perfect for swimming, kayaking and just watching the sunset from the dock. At the end of two weeks, we were sad to leave. Is there a way to rate this property at more than 5 stars?

Incredible Location and Thoughtfully Appointed

What an incredible spot! Although it was too cold for much swimming, the beach and yard area are an absolute dream. There's plenty of great places to play and lounge outside. Inside the owners have thoughtfully appointed the house for kids and adults alike. There's even a box of toys! We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks so much!

Great getaway!

This is our second stay!! Prompt communication through VRBO messaging. The camp has many things you might need, a few movies and games, a kitchen full of ammenities, I was able to bake a cake for my brother in law! And it was really nice to have a washer and dryer too. The only item I might suggest, is a small cooler for beverages when you are outside at the lake. We made lots of fun memories, hope to make it back again!

Relaxing Staycation!

This house exceeded expectations! Was incredibly clean, comfortable, supplied with all necessities and the lakefront spot was just perfect. We spent several days kayaking and canoeing, fishing from the dock (my two daughters caught their first small mouth bass!), saw bald eagles, paddle-boarded, played many card games and just relaxed. We also were able to get out and do a few small nearby hikes with our kiddos - check French’s Mountain for great views! Thanks to Rosa and her family for opening their home up to us :) It was the perfect way to end the summer!

Wonderful lake home- great views, location and layout

This is a great vacation spot - a beautiful home, with huge windows looking out on a crystal clear lake. Each morning we saw loons swimming in the water. The photos on line don't do the house or the property justice. The house is spotless and the layout is perfect for sharing or for a family. The kitchen is well equipped, there is a nice outdoor patio, grill and table and there are plenty of towels for swimming. The owner is responsive and very pleasant to deal with.

Just what we needed

My teen had a break from school so we rented this lovely quiet home on the lake for five days. Another teen from the school joined us as well and we all enjoyed the peace and tranquillity the place provided. Even though it was a bit cold outside, the kayaks were used when the water was calm. The heating was easy to use as well as the various kitchen items, tv, etc. It’s a very user friendly common sense home. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfection

This quaint cottage, mere steps from a crystal clear lake, exceeded our expectations in every way! Homey and comfortable interior (well equipped kitchen, good beds with vast array of pillow options, fun game cupboard) combined with terrific amenities outside (patio furniture, expansive dock, hammock, beaches, Adirondack chairs and nice kayaks), made for a perfect stay. Rosa was lovely to communicate with, and flexible as Colby College switched the dates of parents wkend on families this year. Can’t wait for a repeat visit, what a truly special property.

Perfect!!!

We had the most amazing time! The pictures do not do this place justice. It is absolutely spectacular! Huge lakefront lawn, plus a huge flat lawn behind house across the road... perfect for lawn games. Wonderful walk in beach-like waterfront. Very spacious house and perfect for 2 families. Super quiet. Tons of fish! I could go on and on. I'm writing this review the ride home, it was just so great. Thank you Easton family for sharing your slice of heaven on earth. We'll be back!

Relaxing Lake Breeze

Multiple views of lake from house. Breezes blow off the lake toward house and thru with many windows and doors that open. A large lush green lawn to enjoy with lots of outdoor seating. Down a quiet street this basic older home is neat, clean with more than adequate supplies. Loved the lake with kayaks, large canoe, multiple life vests. A clothes line to hang wet items. Music, books, some games and toys inside with plenty of lighting. Feels secluded, private - interesting things to do in a very peaceful environment. Make sure and come to enjoy this special place. Regret didn’t have time to enjoy all its amenities.

Fun was had by all

As a family of 7, from Iowa, we stayed at camp to visit our friends from Maine, whom also had a camp on the lake. Alternating playtime and suppers at each, we had a blast!! Kitchen: There wasn't a thing we needed that we couldn't find. Laundry: We used often and they worked well. Beds: Were comfy enough for me. Husband said his side sunk in. Bathrooms: Even with all of us there, we never had an issue with cold showers. The best lake views and had a fantastic patio area that worked well for a large group. The ranch style home with no stairs was a real blessing as we have two family members that use walkers. Would love to come back and will def recommend to others.

Peaceful & beautiful

Perfectly situated on the lake! Beautiful home with everything you need. Super comfortable beds too! Easy communication with owner. Crystal clear lake & the area was so tranquil and peaceful. Second week of October was perfect for all the beautiful foliage too! We absolutely loved this place!

A slice of Heaven !!!

This home has been well planned out, it has beds for 6 adults plus kids. Plenty of land for kids to play and adults to enjoy. The updated dock has a bench on it for watching the loons near buy, and it has a solid footing, does not move at all..

Peaceful and Private Getaway

Well-equipped and comfortable home. Thank you Rosa and Mark. Also, thank you to Jane (local home caretaker) as well for great communication as we had questions during our stay. Loons everyday, an eagle sighting a few times, amazing sunsets, kayaks and canoe were fun, outside firepit was nice. There are 2 roadside firewood purchase spots just down the road; either direction. Maple Bacon Farm had delicious maple ice cream. The Red Barn for lobster and seafood lunch/dinner 20 minute drive. If you bring fishing gear, the fishing locations from shore recommended by a local resident were from the house dock, or at the boat landing on Hosta Lane (just up the road), or at the dam in Oakland. The Portland Head Lighthouse is a must see and only a little over an hour drive. We enjoyed our long awaited family time. Thank you again Rosa and Mark.

Wonderful lakeside home steps to the water

Amazing stay at this wonderful lakeside home. The views of the Messalonskee lake are spectacular as are the the sunsets. A large lawn leads to private shoreline where fish, loons and Bald eagles are present. The large living room, spacious bedrooms and dining with lake views can't be beat. Outdoor stone patio, loungers, hammock and fire pit provides numerous areas to relax in this peaceful property. Very cozy and comfortable beds and bedding as well. The house has supplies for all you need for a relaxing vacation!

A vacation gem

This is a wonderful vacation home, and definitely not a camp or cottage. There is lots of open space both inside and out and has nice privacy from the neighbors while enjoying the expansive lawn and beautiful views of the lake and distant shores. Easy access to the water and favorable launching for kayaks and the canoe was a plus as was the immaculate condition of life jackets. Rosa was a delight to deal with and very responsive to my numerous questions which was greatly appreciated. There were so many thoughtful touches in place to insure that you lacked for nothing which would deter from having a wonderful vacation. Bandaids, shampoo, sunscreen, laundry soap, beach towels etc. the only thing lacking was a Butler to wait on you hand and foot ! Just kidding but having a dishwasher and washer & dryer with soap provided was almost as good. I can't think of anything negative to say about this property as it was a terrific place to stay and certainly beckons you to return.
