About this property

"Airside" 2 bed apt, on Hood Aerodrome Masterton perfect for a weekend away

Airside is a unique apartment situated on Hood Aerodrome with great views of the activity on the airport known world wide for its wonderful collection of vintage aircraft. Airside is comfortable and spacious and hangar space is sometimes available for visiting pilots as well.

Sadly we cannot accommodate children for safety reasons and is only for aviation enthusiasts and pilots.

Airside is also situated within 100m of the Aeroclub on one side and Sky diving on the other.

It is next door to an Airtractor Hangar so you will hear them leave in the morning .

There will be a comprehensive set of safety procedures for you to sign due to the properties location.

Supermarkets and some of Masterton's best restaurants are close by.

The property has two bedrooms, one a queen and the other is king single so suitable for up to three people only.

There is also a coffee machine available as well.

Wifi is free but please use at normal levels as the plan we have is limited thanks

Nice, simply set up property with all the basics you need. Tidy, clean and comfortable. Amazing shower pressure which we usually find rare! Very private, area was quiet. Was cool to have view of the planes including some aerobatics. Great communication from the Owner David with access instructions and info about the planes.

Spacious, cosy, great beds. Great position for airport and Motorsport location. Loved the coffee machine (yes a real one). Quiet with a restful view out over airfield. Couldn’t ask for better there. Loved the books on flying and old instruments. Cons: don’t expect hotel like cleanliness. Fridge badly located, in that the hallway door opens across it - You’ll find someone exiting just when you have the fridge door open and behind it! No oven. Porch furniture rather tatty. Microwave turntable clunky. Outer gate needs hanging higher to open more conveniently and the garden gate catch is unreachable for anyone less than 5’8”. Would I stay again? Certainly.

Good value and a bit different

The fact it was on an airfield was a bonus, as this made it a bit special! First time I’ve ever done that! It was perfect for our stay in the Wairarapa, close to Masterton, but with a more rural setting. The apartment had everything we needed and we were able to cook as well, using local produce. The host communicated effectively. The only downside was that we didn’t manage to see any planes fly in or out because the weather was a bit foul, but hopefully we will do so next time, because we will be tempted to come back.

Great getaway

Airside is cosy, clean and comfortable. Everything is there that you need and is very conveniently located. We really enjoyed being airside even though the weather meant no flying was happening. Would be a terrific weekender during an airshow. Thanks for having us :)

Check-in in Masterton

This apartment was a great base for us to stay while attending a wedding. A treat awaited us in the garage/hanger where we were welcomed to inspect the two aeroplanes parked there. The apartment was well setup with modern decor, furnishings and appliances. The shower was fantastic!. Handy to town and great cafes, and a stones throw from check-in. Only regret is that we hadn’t booked more nights.
