Great location, beautiful property, good bbq area, excellent pool, Unit looked tired and req'd impr
Great view, however, many repairs are required: locks on screen doors broken, 'frozen shutters' we couldn't manipulate, kitchen counter tiles that require re-grouting, a rusty dish-rack we didn't use, unwanted ant infestations, worn-out outlets that no longer hold plugs in, a broken dishwasher two days in, old twisted burner coils on stove that leave pans tilted, one element not working, poor selection of pots (actually, only one small pot), pans fit only for camping, cloudy ugly stemware, cracked mugs, both en-suite bathroom fans so loud you couldn't use them, ceiling fans old and loud, loud light ballast buzzing over counter, perhaps the most uncomfortable couch I've ever sat on, a frayed wire night-table lamp that lit up the bedroom with an electrical flash and neighbors who smoked with their smoke often curling through the unit. The office was contacted regarding the fans and the dishwasher. A serviceman came to inspect the dishwater two days later but it wasn't serviced during our two-week stay. No one came to service the bathroom fans. There's no reason for any of these things. We would recommend pulling up the aqua-marine carpet and put in hardwood flooring. Fellow residents spoke well regarding their units, many of which had extensive beach stuff (boogie-boards, chairs, snorkel/fins/masks), chairs and golf clubs. The unit has dated snorkel gear and worn out beach chairs. The unit supplied a place to eat/sleep/read and go to the bathroom. Its condition was a great incentive to enjoy our time at the beaches and the pool and the excellent beauty of Kauai.
Mahalo for your review, however we are surprised by your list and do want to apologize for any oversight on our part. We wish you would have pointed this out while you were here as we could have addressed most, if not all, while you were out exploring Kauai. With regards to the exhaust fans, we came out that day and then explained that they needed to be ordered and we would try to get them in when we can. We apologize it was not during your stay, but know they have since been replaced. We also had the appliance guy come as soon as he was available (the next morning) and the drain was fixed. Again, we did not know about any of the other issues. In response to your comments, please know we replaced the pots, pans and skillets, added all new glassware and a dish rack. In addition, we had maintenance do a thorough review of the entire unit as we wanted to ensure everything was in working order. We apologize for any oversight but please know that like a hotel, we are here 24/7 to service any issues that arise while you are here, so please call, email or text us. Mahalo.
Not all condos have air conditioning!! It was not clear in the on-line representation that the unit we booked does not have any AC. They depend on the trade winds and fans. We had to call maintenance to get additional fans, and for the ceiling fans to be adjusted, as the were barely moving air. We requested to move to another unit. The staff was exceptionally helpful in getting us to another location/unit with AC.
I know the tropics have bugs, but this unit also had dead bugs laying around, and little tiny ants all over the kitchen counters. We had to keep all food in the refrigerator and freezer in order not to share with the ants.
The bed in the master bedroom is worn out! The night we had to stay (waiting to get into an AC unit) was miserable. I found myself climbing out of a hammock-like hole in the mattress all night long.
On a positive note: the grounds are beautiful, the condo was well stocked with linens and kitchen items, and it has three lanais.
Aloha lyearout, We apologize for any confusion, but all our units and resorts with AC are clearly marked as such. We did our best to cool things down, but in the end we are glad we were able to upgrade you to another unit with AC. Yes, the tropics have insects and we do our best by having all our units regularly treated. What you saw was what we call “no-see-ums”…tiny, harmless flying gnats that are attracted to the light and end up dying in the units. They flair up occasionally given the weather, but apologize that you had to deal with them and the ants. Usually the treatment keeps them at bay. We have noted the mattress being soft and if we get more complaints will address it with the owner.
