Leave your car and your cares at the marina because Little Gasparilla is accessible only by water taxi! That means our beaches are uncrowded and tourists and traffic are just a mainland memory. If you are looking for a quiet tropical island to relax and unplug, Little Gasparilla is your dream vacation spot. Our "nightlife" consists of giant sea turtles laying their eggs -- our only bar is the sand bar where you can find sand dollars and shells!
This family-friendly beach house is located in one of the best spots on Little Gasparilla Island. Now pet friendly as well! It is now under new ownership so if you were worried about the home being sold, worry no longer! No trudging over hot sand or dragging your beach chairs down a long boardwalk....the beach is literally your front yard at KneeDeep!
NOTE: Little Gasparilla Island is a bridge-less barrier island accessible only by water taxi. You park your car at Eldred's Marina on the mainland, and bring all groceries to the island with you because there are no commercial establishments on the island.
A spacious downstairs deck overlooking the beach is your launching pad for family fun. A comfortable hammock offers a relaxing spot to nap while enjoying ocean breezes. Comfortable chairs provide a shady spot to sit and watch the little ones at the beach just steps away. You can grill your fresh catch without missing out on any of the fun. The deck is a perfect spot for gathering to enjoy the sunset and search for the elusive "green flash" with friends and family....a Little Gasparilla ritual. And, you are literally "knee deep" in the beach front lifestyle when you vacation at KneeDeep Beach House!
Upstairs, the home is comfortable and well appointed, with an open kitchen, dining and living area so everyone can enjoy each other's company after a day at the beach. The breakfast bar seats 4 and the dining table overlooking the ocean seats another four. Even the kitchen has dramatic ocean views....cooking every day is not so bad when you have views of the Gulf of Mexico!
From the front porch and the living room, you feel as though you are on the deck of an ocean liner, as your only views are of the Gulf of Mexico.....beautiful azure water. Some days the water is turquoise, other days a deep, brilliant dark blue....every day it is ever-changing, and on display for you to enjoy!
The master bedroom has beautiful ocean views as well, with sliding doors that open to the front porch. It has a king bed. The master bath has twin sinks, a large linen closet, a shower and a soaking tub.
The second bedroom is adjacent to the master and has two twins. The third bedroom is on the opposite side of the house with a queen size bed. So you effectively have two master suites if coming with two couples. The second bathroom also has double sinks and it has a shower that can be accessed when you return from the beach so you can rinse off without tracking sand into the house. A large utility room has a full-size washer and dryer. There is also a sleeper sofa in the living room to accommodate up to 8 guests during your stay.
The house is well stocked with all pots and pans, basic pantry items, and all linens including beach towels. Our game closet will provide hours of entertainment for the rare rainy day. And now the home has a brand new 60" Smart TV as well! We can also help you book golf cart rentals, kayak rentals, an island massage or paddle board rentals. Just call our Guest Services Manager who is standing by to make your vacation on Little Gasparilla memorable and trouble-free!
Wi-fi via satellite is provided, but please understand that wi-fi is not for entertainment...you should download movies and books to your i-pad or tablet before arriving. (There is no wired internet on the island.) We do offer the services of our island concierge who will meet you at the dock upon arrival and help transport luggage and groceries to the house for you!
A true hidden treasure, Little Gasparilla Island is a bridge less, tropical barrier island just off the West Coast of Florida located midway between Tampa and Naples, not far from the cities of Boca Grande and Englewood Florida. Unspoiled by seawalls and high rises, it has no roads and no car traffic, just white sand paths for exploring. Here you'll find 7 miles of pristine white sandy beaches, fantastic fishing opportunities, an abundance of sea shells and prehistoric shark's teeth to gather, dramatic sunsets and balmy tropical breezes.
Nature lovers will also enjoy Don Pedro State Park which is only about 300 feet up the beach from Knee Deep. The park boasts a large pavilion and two miles of private beach and is a wonderful place to just get out in nature. The park is only accessible by boat or kayak ensuring minimal visitors. Keep your eyes peeled for endangered species such as the West Indian manatee, gopher tortoises, bald eagles and American oystercatchers.
The twisting sand trails on LGI add to the charm and appeal of the island. They are fantastic for early morning or late evening walks and general exploring. Some guests opt to rent a golf cart for more access or longer excursions. Golf carts can be rented on the island from LGI Carts: 941-697-3820.
A rental car will be required to get from the airport to the marina where guests park their car and catch the water taxi to the island, unless you prefer to take a shuttle and have them wait while you buy groceries. Shuttle information is provided when you book. Reservations for the water taxi must be made at least 1 week in advance of arrival.

About Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals
We have lived on the island for 30 years and we started renting our own home many years ago when we traveled. Then our neighbors asked us to handle rentals for them also -- and now we offer vacation rentals through our small family business Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals. We offer cottages in a variety of price ranges and locations on the island...from striking beachfront homes to cozy interior homes with lots of privacy. Our homes are painstakingly cared for, we try to keep them well-stocked, and we try to give each of our homes a very personal touch...we want you to feel like you are vacationing in a friend's home rather than a sterile "rental unit". We love the island and want you to have the best experience possible so you will love it as much as we do. So relax, kick off your flip flops, dig your toes in the sand and enjoy the island lifestyle!
Why Little Gasparilla Vacation Rentals chose Placida
This home has an ideal location right on the beach with a fabulous shaded deck area beneath the home. You can sit on the deck in the shade and keep an eye on the kids in the water at the same time. And the view from the front porch is like being on the deck of a cruise ship -- simply spectacular views!

We absolutely love this house. The layout is great for a family vacation. Would not stay anywhere
Great vacation. The island is beautiful and the house is great. Wonderful hosts that take extra care to see that you enjoy your stay.
Loved the beach and sunsets. People are friendly. Great place to get away from the fast lane.
Unique location in a relaxing, breathtaking atmosphere
If you haven't experienced Little Gasparilla we would highly recommend it. There is pretty much nothing to do on this small island - and it's GREAT! About 7 miles of uninterrupted quiet beach to walk, swim, collect shells (and tiny sharks teeth) along with a modest state park (Don Pedro) which has some very quiet walking paths and modest but clean amenities. The most striking feature of the island is the quiet... except for the soothing crash of the waves, there are no traffic noises audible day or night which makes it very appealing. There are rough sandy paths - some sections of it shaded - connecting most of the island houses to the docks but be careful, some folks like to push the pedal to the metal on this golf carts!
Knee Deep is a very well stocked, spacious home that is one of only two hanging precipitously over the water. At high tide the waves splash up to the lower deck. From the main floor it is a truly breathtaking view with no beach visible, almost like being on a parked cruise ship. Every night was a million dollar sunset. The beach is short like most gulf beaches but the salty water is perfect for lazy swimming. The wrap around deck was put to good use and in decent shape. The kitchen was adequate for 6 and everyone could cook/clean/eat in relative comfort. There's lots of odds and ends in the kitchen that you'll likely forget to bring - cooking oils, some spices, syrup, plastic wrap - so coordinate with the owner on what's provided and what you need to plan for. There's a grocery service and the water taxi prices can add up so plan your trips to the mainland carefully!
The living space was nicely appointed - nothing too fancy and everything was comfortable. The bedrooms were comfortable with the main bedroom being the only ocean facing room. Plenty of towels and some board games. You'll have a very pleasant experience but if you're spending all your time indoors you've come to the wrong place!
If there were opportunities for improvement, I'd recommend they owners lose the carpet in the main living areas, stock some more bowls/plates & flatware (three cupboards of glasses and only one of plates meant we ran the dishwasher or hand washed a load of dishes after EVERY meal). Also, the dining table only had space for 4. Two bedrooms didn't have TVs. Do your research on getting in and out and book all your water taxis in advance.
You'll love the experience overall! We can't wait to return.
Thank you for our positive comments about the house and the island. You will be pleased to know that the older carpet in the living room has already been replaced! (It was scheduled to take place before your visit but was delayed by the after effects of the hurricane which backed up all the island contractors!) While there is seating for four at the dining table, there is also a breakfast bar that seats another four...but the owners are planning to get new furniture in the coming months so a new table may be in the works. As for dishes, we always stock enough plates for every guest in the house, but we are quite probably not equipped as well as your own home may be! As for TVs in every bedroom, we encourage people to come to the island and experience the beautiful beach, the shore birds, the shelling, great fishing and our spectacular Little Gasparilla sunsets....nature's display beats TV any day!
Our family loved the location of this house--right on the beach with a beautiful wrap-around porch. Watching the sunset from the porch each evening was spectacular! Our grandson enjoyed fishing from the shore and catching fish to eat for supper. It's great to be able to fish on both the ocean and the bay sides of the island--and it's just a short walk from one side of the island to the other. Using the water taxi to travel to and from the mainland was very easy and convenient.
The one down-side is that the living room carpet is very stained and the furniture covers are ripped ---it's time to replace these items if the price to rent is to remain the same.
Thank you for your positive comments. The living room carpet has already been replaced! (Major renovations were scheduled in November, prior to your visit, but got delayed by the hurricane.) The owners installed brand new appliances this Fall, put all new flooring down in early January and have new furniture on order as well. I believe they are starting with a new king bed for the bedroom this month. It is a slow process on the island between rentals!
The Best Stay Vacation Ever !!!!
First time on Little Gasparilla Island, and will not be our last. Already thinking about what week we should go next year. The location of the island is great only a 90 minute drive, 10 minute water taxi, and 5 minute walk. The owners made made it very easy on busboy letting us bring 3 of our dogs. I don't know who was more excited, us or the dogs. The home has the best views, an amazing lower deck, that is covered with a breeze. Can hang there all day, rain or shine. The upper deck - wow. One of the best part of how the house faced, is that the sun wasn't directly entering the home to make it hot. I was able to look down and watch the dogs play in the water. The first morning after arriving, I was able to save a Seahorse. My dogs barked at something in the sand, picked it up and was surprised by what they had found. Put it directly into the water and forgot to take a picture. The second day, we were blessed to see baby sea turtles hatch and make their way to the water, at least 3 dozen or so. We had beautiful weather, the last day it did rain, but we packed, so it was perfect. Love the isolation of the island, but there are friendly neighbors near by, and others walking the beach. We ranged in years, a 3 yr old, some in there mid 20's, two in the early 50's and one is turning 80. We all can't wait to return. Thank you, for having us.
The home was literally steps away from the water. The home was all you could ask for in a beach home
The house was clean and spacious. There was a lot of room on the balcony overlooking the gulf. Downstairs offered a great shaded area for entertaining and relaxing. This home was an incredible experience! We will certainly return.
