We have booked many apartments through the owners direct website and have never had a problem, this could not have been more different. It was so bad that we refused to stay, despite being denied any refund. We booked this apartment based on the advertisement stating that it had one bedroom. The ‘bedroom’ is in an alcove in the entry hallway. The front door opens directly onto it and it there is no room to walk around the bed so entry is only possible from one side – the owners photograph does not reflect this. The owner should make this clear as we would not have booked it had we known. Speaking to him when we discovered this he answer was that we should sleep on the sofa bed in the tiny sitting room. If we had wanted a studio we would have booked one! We had booked a one bedroom apartment, not a studio with a bed in an alcove in the entryway. The owner has been very unhelpful, initially saying we have cancelled without any due cause, giving that as his reason for not making a refund. On sending him a photograph very clearly showing that his advertisement was misrepresentative he then changed his reasoning to that we were being abusive, this was when we said we would have no option but to take the matter further – and has now refused to receive any communication from us. He has also changed the photograph on his web-site, which still does not show the ‘bedroom’ clearly but is an improvement on the one there previously. We took the matter up with Owners Direct who only advice was to communicate with the owner – difficult when he refuses to accept any communication. We have been consistently polite to him both on the telephone and in emails. We regularly make reviews and they are uniformly very good, the last two, booked through Owners Direct, we gave 5 stars to, and have never given a review like this. The rest of the apartment is tiny, but was clean and the bathroom looked reasonably new. A huge disappointment, do not book this apartment unless you are looking for a studio rather than a one bedroom apartment. Also disappointing that there was no option but to give a minimum of 1 star, would have been much happier to give none. We are still out of pocket for the money we paid the owner.
