About Bonnie S. Emerson
My husband and I grew up in Oxford and never wanted to live anywhere else. Our families and our memories were created here and this is where we chose to raise our family. This location has given us the opportunity to enjoy so much that is around us and yet has allowed us to remain in a small town, peaceful atmosphere! This is the first home that we bought and it was an apartment at the time so the rent check paid the mortgage! We have raised 4 children in this home. They are all married. One daughter lives across the driveway with her husband and three children. Our son lives across the river-- about 3 minutes away, with his wife and two children. Another daughter lives in the country about 10 minutes away with her husband and four children. Our third daughter lives an hour away with her husband and dog! Pretty much every Sunday, they all come here, sit around the "big" table and have a meal together! The children enjoy the basement area and the back yard/woods area. We have a home on Guilford Lake-10 minutes away- and want the house to be used while we are at the lake! We or some member of our family will be available to help you with anything that you might want or need.

Our stay was wonderful, comfort all around us. Was nice to come "home" after a long day in Cooperstown. The house was like staying in a museum with treasures all around. Books, books, and more books. For three teachers and a nurse it was like a history book came alive. Bonnie was so nice and checked in with us almost daily. The town of Oxford is gorgeous looks like a movie set not a real town, people are all so nice. We never heard a siren. Great little restaurants. If given the opportunity to need a place to stay in that area we would definitely stay there again.
Thank you for choosing my home as your base to visit Cooperstown! It was a pleasure to meet you and you were wonderfully, respectful guests! I'm happy that you had an opportunity to experience our community! I would definitely welcome you back!
A wonderful, spacious charmer!
As other reviewers have noted, this home is even prettier and more well maintained than the pictures can show! We stayed for a long weekend for a family reunion and college visit. Bonnie, the owner, met us at the house to show us around -- and she is lovely and a wealth of knowledge about the area. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable and the ACs in each bedroom were greatly appreciated as the temps were in the 90s during our stay. We would gladly stay in this home again and highly recommend it.
Thanks for your review! I enjoyed meeting you and having you as guests. I would certainly welcome you back!
This home is lovely and well maintained with everything you might need in a home away from home.
We were greeted with an honest welcome and given a tour of the home, with a few anecdotes of it's previous occupancy. We were provided with a book with all the information necessary to make our stay fantastic. The Victorian decor was wonderful and had us seeing something new every time we walked through. A very warm and friendly experience.
Stunning Victorian-era Home
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to experience life in a large, nooked and crannied, Victorian-era house, then putting this home on your bucket-list is a must. The vast space has been lovingly kept in pristine condition, and is spotless, with fascinating true-to-era details (as well as modern accommodations) to be be found in every corner. The hostess, Bonnie, is as friendly as can be, and very helpful. Every possible need, or desire for a home away from home experience that my family may have had was met, and even exceeded. We had an absolutely fantastic stay!
I'm very grateful that your stay was what you had hoped for. Our goal is to make our guests comfortable, happy and feel that they can kick back and relax!
Thank you for your business!
Beautiful Victorian Home
Gracious hosts and a beautiful, spotless Victorian home decorated throughout with period furnishings. Every corner has some special detail. We loved the hot tub (okay, so that is not a true Victorian amenity-pretend it is a claw-foot tub in such case!). We hosted fourteen people comfortably for a buffet breakfast. Back yard was beautiful but alas--spring in upstate NY meant we weren't able to make use of it. Oxford is a scenic small village, convenient to Norwich where we had a family event scheduled.
Great home to entertain family.
We celebrated Thanksgiving in the home and felt at home. I hosted and could not have been more satisfied with the results. Completely stocked kitchen facilitated smooth sailing throughout meal prep, consumption and cleanup. Strongly recommend.
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review! We are very happy to hear that all went well for you and your family. We were thrilled to have you use the house for your Family celebration! Your family members who I met were very warm and friendly and Teddy is a very sweet boy! Thank you for choosing our home, enjoy the remaining holiday season and stay well!
