I live in Durham in the North East Of England, with my husband and two teenage children. We fell in love with the location and the design and feel of the house the moment we walked through the door. We use the house whenever we can, but with two sociable teenagers this time is limited. We are happy to share the house and the experience of staying there with others.

The main reason for buying the property was it's unique and unusual design and style. We loved the location of the property with it's views looking out towards Amble Marina. We never tire of watching the ever changing skies from the 2nd floor living area. The house has a wonderful feel to it, it is light and spacious with expansive windows. We feel instantly relaxed when we arrive there. We bought the house with the view to exploring Northumberland, but we have found that we rarely go far from the house and Amble, as we love it so much. Northumberland is a place of raw beauty and there is much to explore from the house should you want to. Friends and family who have stayed with us, share our enthusiasm and never want to leave.
What makes this House unique
Amble has a thriving high street, with two small supermarkets, a greengrocers, 2 butchers a bakery and much more. There are numerous restaurants to hand, including a wonderful seafood restaurant on the harbour, an Indian and Italian restaurant and of course great fish and chip shops. A cafe serving super coffee and award winning ice cream is a short stroll away. There are bike rides from the door. Beautiful beaches can be easily reached by bike or car. The town of Alnwick, famous for it's wonderful gardens is 8 miles away. Alnmouth station is 5 miles away with free parking, it has direct links to London and Edinburgh. Trains to Newcastle run regularly and take less than 30 minutes. Amble is described as "The friendliest port" and has a thriving fishing harbour, marina and yacht club.

Wonderful Stay in Amble
My family stayed in this property for one week in July 2019. We had a fantastic time in Amble and the surrounding area and staying at this house was central to the experience.
We dealt with Stephen, the owner, who was incredibly helpful in advance of and during the stay. He was very quick to respond to emails, and always offered solutions. The book in the property with information about the house and local area was excellent and we settled in quickly.
The property is 10mins stroll from the town centre. It is quiet and very well-maintained. The top floor lounge with views across the area and marina was a lovely space and offered plenty in the way of entertainment - reading material, music and tv as well as binoculars for watching the world go by. Our other hub was the ground-floor kitchen / diner / lounge area. The kitchen was well-equipped with great appliances and all utensils and was light and airy.
Bedrooms (one on the ground, three on the first) were modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Two bedrooms had ensuite bathrooms and a family bathroom served the other two.
For part of the stay, we were seven altogether: two couples and three kids (ages 7, 5 and 3). There was plenty of room for all of us - two sofas in the kitchen area and a large L-shaped couch in the lounge upstairs with several complementary armchairs. Again - all modern, comfortable and in great condition. The garage housed a ping-pong table that the kids appreciated, and we made good use of the washer and dryer.
Amble is a great base for seeing the area with most sights within a 30min drive. Newcastle and Morpeth to the south, Alnwick, Bamburgh and Holy Island to the north. Amble itself provides everything required day-to-day - supermarket, restaurants, butchers, pubs, and great fish & chips. Nearby beaches are easy to access with free parking and beautiful wide sandy expanses.
The house represented great value for money and was what VRBO is all about - enjoying a vacation in a home away from home. When we next return to the area I would not hesitate to book the same house again and have recommended it to friends.

Brilliant house, great area.
The moment we stepped in the hall of this house we knew we had made a good choice. The Kitchen diner was an excellent room with two settees for those not preparing food to stay in contact with those who were. The bedrooms were large, the beds very comfy. Decor throughout the house was beautiful and interesting. The top floor lounge was well set out with great views from both windows. The house contained everything we needed, and a comprehensive booklet gave us full info on the local area. Arrangements were clear and straightforward.

Great property everything i needed the facilities in the house were excellent i would certainly return to this property and the views from the upstairs lounge were amazing if i had to say something negative for myself it would be the stairs to the top lounge but when you get there its worth it lovely and clean property and a few extras upon arrival

Within easy reach of the property by car, bike or by foot for the fitter folk, are the beaches of Low Hauxley, Druridge Bay and Warkworth. A little further (6 miles) is the beautiful village of Alnmouth, with it's vast white sandy beaches and quaint shops, cafes and restaurants. Along the coast is Beadnell, Seahouses and of course Bamburgh, with it's majestic castle and amazing beaches.

Northumberland has a huge range of activities to offer, catering for most interests. In the local area, sailing, walking, cycling, bird watching, fishing, painting, surfing and golfing, to name a few.
Amble high street has everything you could possibly want. A well stocked tesco express and co-op as well as green grocers, 2 butchers, 2 bakeries and a fish monger. There is a bank, post office, chemist and tourist information office. There are really lovely cafes including the Coquet Tea Rooms and Spurreli's within walking distance. There is even a DVD rental shop. There is a market every Sunday on Amble Habour.
Within a few hundred yards of the house is 'The Marina' Artique centre. This newly opened venture has a great range of art, crafts and antiques, as well as a lovely cafe.
