About alice leckie
I co own the property with my partner. We live in Edinburgh a 30 minute drive away, so we are available to assist if there is an emergency. We are both retired
alice leckie purchased this Chalet in 2013
Why alice leckie chose Dunbar
The property has been in the family for 16 years. My partner inherited it in 2013. We are a 30 minute drive away but as soon as we reach Belhaven we are in another world where we can unwind. We love the view standing at our window of The "Big Sky" and the sea, which changes as the tide comes in and out. We are never bored as there are so many places to visit in the area.
What makes this Chalet unique
We love walking on the beach outside our door, walking the east lothian sections of the John Muir Way, visiting quaint villages inland, and the lovely seaside towns of North Berwick, Gullane and Dunbar, finding new coffee shops on our travels and keeping a list, which we are happy to share with our guests. When we are feeling energetic, we walk up Berwick Law or Trapain Law where we have a lovely view of the coast. My partner has recently discovered micro-lighting near the Museum of Flight at East Fortune and has enjoyed seeing the coast from the air.

Had a wonderful stay at the chalet. Loved the tranquility and how close it was to the beach. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much for posting this review. We are very fortunate to own somewhere so close to the sea. We always find when we visit that we immediately begin to chill out as soon as we arrive and although we only live half an hour away, it feels like a different world.
The beach chalet was perfect it was clean, well equipped and it couldn’t have been in a better position. We had breakfast sitting in our cosy chalet then just out of the door across the road and some of the most amazing views I have ever seen and walks along the beach.
Thank you for your kind comments.
Our beach is amazing and will please anyone who loves long walks by the sea.
When it has been explored, there are others just as beautiful, all within the East Lothian area.
We are fortunate to have a parking pass which can be used by our guests which allows free parking in all the East Lothian Council coastal car parks.
Alice was very welcoming, from the bikes in the shed that we could use to the buckets and spades, and the parking pass left in the fruit bowl for us. It was like home from home. Except the view was much better. If you ever want to sell this place Alice make sure you call me first! I would love to live there full time
Thank you so much. Unfortunately we cant sell it to you as we love it ourselves. It has always been a dream of ours to own somewhere with a view of the sea. However we are happy to share it with others and you are very welcome to return again.
Lovely, homely, cosy and near to the beautiful beach.
Our first visit to this lovely chalet and we will be back. It felt so homely and it's easy to feel like you've been here before. The kitchen was big enough to easily cope with storage and prep for Christmas dinner! Being so close to the beach was fantastic for walks. We have really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back. Thank you
Thank you for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your Christmas stay at the chalet. It goes to show that its possible to have an enjoyable holiday at the beach in all seasons and weathers and nothing better than a long, bracing walk along the sand to blow away the cobwebs!

Thank you so much for your review. There are so many wonderful walks in the area and glad you enjoyed them.
We take on board your comments re sofas.
Good to hear you are planning to stay in the future!
The front of the chalet faces Belhaven Bay. It is a wide sandy beach which is popular with surfers and walkers. The appearance of the beach constantly changes with the tide. When the tide is in, the beach is almost completely covered by water and the river leading to the sea becomes a lake.
There is also a beach in Dunbar which is a 20 minute walk or short drive away. The beautiful beaches of Tyningham, Seacliffe, North Berwick, Dirleton and Gullane are a 30-45 minute drive away.
Edinburgh airport is a 45 minute drive. There is a railway station in Dunbar which is on the main London to Edinburgh line. There is a bus service to Edinburgh and the bus stop is only a 5 minute walk away but as the bus takes 70 minutes to Edinburgh it is not recommended.
A car is recommended to be able to access the many sights in East Lothian but those who were keen walkers or cyclists could manage without a car at a push.
Dunbar is a 15 minute walk away. The market town of Haddington is a 15 minute drive away. Tantallon Castle is a 15 minute drive and dirleton castle is a 30 minute drive. The museum of flight at east Fortune is a 20 minute drive away. The sea bird centre at North Berwick is a 20 minute drive away. The East Lothian section of the John Muir Way stretches from Prestonpans along the coast to Dunbar and is a favourite with walkers
Dunbar has several banks, a post office, cafes, pubs, restaurants, a swimming pool which has a wave machine and flumes, harbour and beach. A large Asda is on the outskirts of town.
Dunbar is the home of John Muir and the house of his birth is now a museum in the high street. Entry is free.
The family fun park near West Barns is a 15 minute walk from the property along the John Muir way, or a 2 minute drive. Its a great place for children with an adventure park, a train, an outdoor area with farm animals and a cafe.
There is also a wake boarding school with a café, a 5 minute drive away.
