About Shauna Simpson
My husband and I are both from Northern Ireland but now live in North Yorkshire. We love the outdoors and are at our happiest when walking at home in the UK or high up in the Swiss Alps. As a family we have enjoyed skiing together for over 25 years mostly in Switzerland and France. We found Les Diablerets in 2006 and now consider it a second home. It has given us the flexibility to balance our busy work life and leisure; but now as our children get older we find that there are times when we could share our home with others and so have come to Owners Direct.
Shauna Simpson purchased this Apartment in 2008
Why Shauna Simpson chose Ormont-Dessus
We have been visiting Les Diablerets for over 10 years now and have created a home from home with all the creature comforts provided. It is a place to relax, get away from it all and re-energise. A great place to spend quality time with friends and family. There is plenty to keep everyone happy; skiers and non-skiers, the active and those who just want to relax, adults and children. You can do high energy sports, swimming pools and spas, serious mountain pursuits or general sightseeing, many to be found right on your doorstep. The village is a very friendly place with people who have lived there all there lives and who are intent on it thriving while keeping its character and charm.
What makes this Apartment unique
As people travelling from North Yorkshire, the ease of access has proven time and again to be a winner. For short trips in winter the public transport is reliable and relaxing; no more 5 hr transfers with coach pick ups at 4am! The drive is simple enough when taken at a steady pace. Once in Les Diablerets you will find that although your are surrounded by picture perfect alpine scenery, the apartment is close to all the amenities that you could wish for. We love the local shops such as the Laiterie which stocks milk and cheese supplied from surrounding farms, but also acts as a deli with fresh rotisserie chickens and ice cream. Also many an afternoon on the slopes has been curtailed to watch the 6 Nations Rugby tournament in the Bar L'Ormanon or Chez La Croix. When out on the mountains it is difficult to recommend any particular place to eat as there are lots of fantastic restaurants serving traditional Swiss, new Swiss and Italian, alongside the usual self-service ski fare. In the summer after a long hike up a mountainside pack lunches are not always necessary as you will find fully catered Refuges or Huts to provide welcome sustenance including a large beer, though that depends on the difficulty of the walk home. After a day expending energy on the mountains there is nothing better than to relax on the spacious terrace in the sunshine, before getting ready for a guilt-free dinner; either with friends, family, or on your own for special time together. However you spend your time in Les Diablerets we think it is a truly magical place to visit.
