If you've ever seen Tiny House Nation and thought you would like to experience one, then here is your chance. My tiny house isn't on wheels, but is a small, modern cottage tucked underneath a huge magnolia tree in my backyard. And just under 300 sqft, it roomier than it sounds. Located in a quiet, historic neighborhood that is a super close bike ride to beaches (-2.5 miles) and about a 10 minute drive to downtown Charleston, SC – or if you are adventurous, you can bike to downtown ( approx 7 miles) and catch the spectacular view over the Ravenel Bridge!

About Cristina Young
I'm a native Charlestonian and my Charleston lineage goes way back to the 17th Century. I have lived in Mount Pleasant for most of my life – grade school through high school. I went to Ringling College of Art + Design in Sarasota, Florida. I own a freelance graphic design business and work out of my house. I love to surf, paddleboard and go boating – anything that has to do with water. I'm also an avid road-biker and tennis player.
Cristina Young purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Cristina Young chose Old Village
The rental is in my backyard and is surrounded by beautiful live oaks and magnolia trees. It's located in the oldest neighborhood in Mt. Pleasant and only a few blocks from the historic neighborhood called the "Old Village". There you will find quaint shops, restaurant, an awesome wine cafe that has wine tastings a couple nights a week, and old Pitt Street Pharmacy – old timey Soda Fountain. This is a great area to ride bikes around and check out all the old houses - some dating from the 1700s, and enjoy the sunsets on the harbor from the Pitt Street Bridge that's a quick bike ride through the neighborhood. I know a lot about Charleston and the surrounding areas from the best places to eat to the best places to find free parking in downtown. During your stay, if you're interested, I can give you pointers and steer you in the right direction if you're visiting for the first time.
What makes this Cottage unique
This is a cozy tiny house with a nice Zen feeling. Everything is new from the kitchen sink to the appliances to the flooring. It has a mini split AC and heating unit along with a ceiling fan so you will stay cool and comfy in the summer and warm and toasty in the winter (even though our winters here don't get much below 50°), and It's quite roomy considering it's just under 300 square feet. It's also very convenient to downtown Charleston and the beaches – and so easy to bike to the beach or walk to several restaurants a few blocks away. There are 2 grocery stores less than half a mile away, Whole Foods is about 3 miles away, and a great place to get a facial or massage just down the street. Also, If you need to do a small load of laundry, I have a washer/dryer that will be available to you if requested.

This was our first experience in a tiny house. It was clean, comfortable, and cozy – not to mention quiet! Christina kept us updated on the details of our visit (parking, access, etc.) several days in advance of our travels, which was very helpful. The location was close enough to be a quick drive from downtown or the beach as well as the dining and shopping on Shem Creek.
For those looking for a tiny house experience, we recommend! (And the furry feline greeters are nice too!)
Cute, comfortable and great location
Beautiful little cottage. Very clean and well appointed. Will stay here again when we come back to charleston. Loved it!!!
Enjoyed the Tiny House. Everything you need and fabulous location. Will stay again!
Location, privacy, function: look no further
My fiancé and I stayed two nights in the tiny house and didn't want to leave. It was absolutely adorable, clean, and the location was perfect for visiting Sullivan's Island (our fave), Boone Hall, Shem Creek, and just over the bridge to downtown. The houses in the neighborhood are stunning. The area is super quiet. Getting Uber/Lyft rides was a cinch. My fiancé is 6'6" and he fit in all the rooms negotiated the loft just fine. Oh, and walking distance to Starbucks which appears to be the only coffee joint open on Sundays in the area. We would 100% stay here again and have already recommended it to our friends.
Deidre, thanks so much for the stellar review! Didn’t get to meet you since I was out of town. Hopefully will get a chance if you stay again in the future. Love to have you back.
Clean, convenient & private
Tiny house was clean, convenient and private. Beach was just a few miles away too. Don’t let “tiny house” fool you. We had plenty of room!! Larger than I expected. Great stay ! We really enjoyed our mini vacation!
Wonderful, charming, clean, we loved it!
The Tiny house was amazing, we had a great time there. The owner Christina is very kind, clearly thoughtful, and quickly responsive to questions. My daughter loved it too! If we come back to Charleston, we would definitely be staying here again..the location was perfect for us, too, with Sullivan island just down the way one way, and downtown Charleston a short trip the other direction...
Thanks Kathleen! Would love to have you and your daughter stay again.
Located in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant where some houses date back from the 1700s. The barrier island are easily accessed from the location via car or bike. Beaches are less than 2.5 miles and historic downtown Charleston is less than 7 miles. You can easily bike to beach or downtown using bike paths and bike lanes. There is also a water taxi from Patriot's Point to downtown that is about 4 miles away. Beautiful Shem Creek is less than a mile from property. Great place to rent a paddle board or kayak and enjoy dolphins feeding around the shrimp boats, or just visit a creekside bar and enjoy amazing sunset views.
