About Sheri Arkoosh
Born and raised in Kimberly, Idaho. My parents introduced us kids to the Sawtooth Mountain Range before we could walk, winter weekends snowmobiling, summer weekends camping, fishing and hunting. My husband and I bought the original log cabin in 1992 and we started building the cabin a few short years later. We love Stanley, and I know you will love staying at the cabin where you can hike, bike, ride ATV's, float the River of No Return, swim at Redfish Lake, ride horses, weekend concerts, explore the old mining town of Custer, enjoy good food, just to name of few of the adventures you can choose from. Set back relax and enjoy the mountain air.

First visit to Stanley, wanted riverfront, took a leap at a high price for two people based on positive reviews, location and square footage.
As veteran Realtors and vacation renters, our opinion is a renter has every right to expect a very close if not completely turnkey property at an optimal rate, rustic or not. This property is overdue for deep cleaning, repairs and updating. Kitchen has 2 heat sources (pellet/wood fire stove) which we couldn’t get to work. Therefore, we never had full utility of a complete kitchen during our stay. (Unless you call a microwave and toaster oven a complete kitchen). We cooked breakfast on a little butane grill outside the back door in 40 degree weather. Once was enough. The kitchen stayed 20 to 50 degrees during our stay while the rest of the house was, fortunately, toasty thanks to their friend who got those two heating sources working in living and entry areas. Their near perfect listing photos do not reflect the stained, heavily scratched and chipped kitchen sink; the cracked window above sink, the weeds around the base perimeter of the house, the patched, worn and stained carpet in the master bedroom, the mushy mattress, and that the bathroom door only opens halfway before hitting the tub.
We emailed the owner a list of items reflecting our disappointment in the property’s condition. Instead of acknowledging the condition, perhaps offering a discount for shortcomings, we were surprised her only suggestion was for us to leave early and she would credit one days rate, and was a bit indignant at that. Never mind it was the last leg of our hard-earned vacation and we would have to scramble to find other lodging two days before a scheduled flight home from Boise. She did concede the cleaning fee which was excessive to begin with considering two people/one bed. We’re not fussy people and certainly do “rustic” but an owner shouldn’t expect people to pay “resort” prices for a property in obvious need of attention, repairs and updating. Wish we’d known its true condition before booking as we would have made other accommodations.
Oh My Goodness!!
This response has taken awhile for me to write, it's never a good situation to have upset guests, therefore below is the conversation we had.
These guest was not unhappy enough with our cabin that they did not want to stay the extra two days even after I offered them a refund for them to find other accommodations, my true feeling is they wanted to stay for free or a very very reduced rate. When we did not come to an agreement they became difficult and critical. The review does not mention the two gas burning stoves on the north and south ends of the cabin they could not start, I immediately call a contractor to start the stoves for them, he was there within 30 minutes. There is also a 4 foot by 6 foot fireplace supplied with cords of wood. Operation of the pellet stove was pushing two buttons. The bathroom is small with the old fashion claw foot tub for guest enjoyment. The cabin is located in the Sawtooth National Forest in the Wilderness, there are no weeds around the cabin, yes there are grasses, and bushes and trees and elk, deer, martins, fox, beavers, birds, fish and waterfowl. I offered every reasonable accommodation I could think of short of replacing the kitchen sink which holds large cast iron pans, but the guest was set on free lodging, we did come to a reasonable appeasement.
This is the first critical review we have had in the three years we started renting our cabin, the couple that came in right after them love the cabin and the wood stove and the area, this is their third trip and they are booking two more trips for 2019.
I am confident that the guest who came before and the guest who come after them will find the "Rustic" enjoyment of the cabin, the River of No Return and the Sawtooth Mountain range everything we have said it would be.

Wonderful mountain getaway!
Location by the river was awesome. Caught rainbow trout by literally walking out the back door. Cabin has a great balance between comfort and rustic. Close enough to Lower Stanley and Stanley for easy access to supplies, etc. Highly recommend this cabin!
We are so happy you had a wonderful time, I hope you pan fried the fish on the wood cook stove. Hope you come back sometime.
Cozy river view cabin
Wonderful place for family reunion. This cabin is in a quiet and accommodates many people.
We are very happy your family enjoyed the cabin, it is a great place for family and friends.
Terrific cabin and location!
Wonderful place to stay, ~ 5 mi out of town, beautiful location on the Salmon River. Great cabin for relaxing after day hikes, hanging out, and sleeping. Nice patio deck.
Deborah and family,
We are so happy you had a wonderful time at the cabin, there is no better place to enjoy natural and be surrounded by family, we hope to see you again someday.
Great location and wonderful cabin for a family trip!
My family and I had a great stay and time at this cabin and will definitely stay here again. The location on the river and rustic feel was just what we were looking for, for our family trip!
Great location... Very comfortable home...
My family of 7 had a wonderful time ... This cabin is out of town just enough to be remote without the crowds. We thought the one bathroom would be a problem but it wasn't a huge issue. We did comment that the bathroom was really small... I would rent this cabin again..
Thank you so much for the review, yes our bathroom is cozy, we always call dibs and work it out, especially when you want to soak in the old fashion claw tub. The rest of the cabin and Stanley, always out weights the bathroom. We hope you stay with us again.
