Bedroom 3: Double (4ft 6in) Bed Ensuite: Cubicle Shower, Toilet. Gas central heating, gas, electricity (£25 per week November-March), bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot. Enclosed garden with garden furniture and barbecue. Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note: There is a pond, 150 yards away.. In an attractive setting overlooking communal gardens, this modern holiday home stands at the end of a row of three, within the grounds of a converted manor. Woodland View is within a 10-minute stroll of the charming historic village of Old Shanklin, with thatched-roof pubs, restaurants and shops, and the beach is a further 5-minute walk. Discover historic buildings, gardens, beaches and magnificent coastal walks. Woodland View is only 150 yards from a church, children’s play area and duckpond. Walking, cycling, golf, fishing, sailing and birdwatching nearby. Hair straighteners have been provided. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

Lovely location. Unclean house.

This holiday rental is in a lovely location on the edge of Shanklin. A duck pond, a large field, gardens, all within a few minutes walk. However the house itself had a strange smell on arrival. The towels provided didn't smell or feel fresh, the bed linen was stained also and didn't feel clean (there is a washing machine so we put them through the wash ourselves.) It was dusty throughout. As there was nowhere to put your clothes when using the bathroom other than on the towel radiator or the shelf of the bath, so they got covered in cobwebs. The grill started to smoke on the cooker when we turned it on. For the money we paid, we found this very disappointing.

Woodland view is a lovely house in a very peaceful setting within the grounds of the old manor house. The younger people with us were quite pleased to see the wild rabbits out on the lawns most of the day. It is only a short walk (multiple routes available) to get down to the old village, which is very picturesque with its thatched buildings. The Chine itself is only a 15 minute walk through (when used as a short cut) and, once a ticket is bought, you can go through it as many times as you want within a seven day period.There were a few things that could do with improvement but this did not spoil the time we spent there.Before we left home I spoke with the owner, to check what sort of things would be supplied for kitchen and bathroom and was told that it would be a home from home so we didn’t need to take anything for those areas. Unfortunately when we arrived we could not find, in the kitchen, a hand towel, anti-bac cleaner or oven gloves. The fridge had one of the door shelves broken (we found it in the kitchen cupboard) and so there was nowhere to put milk or bottles other than in the body of the fridge, which was fine apart from limiting the space for other stuff. None of the knives were particularly sharp and I ended up using the bread knife for cutting most things.On a safety point, most of the electrical items had PAT stickers (portable appliance test) on them, but there were some that were dated 2017. I must admit that I don’t recall having seen stickers in other places we have stayed but, if you are going to use the system then it should be kept up to date and tested yearly.As mentioned in a previous review, the sixth chair is broken and is pushed into the very busy kitchen cupboard, fine as there were only five of us but it is advertised for up to six people. The kitchen tap is in need of repair as I felt it was necessary to hold the body of the tap if the spout needed rotating.The dishwasher top rack is almost unusable as the stops on the ends of the side runners are missing meaning that when the top rack is pulled out it detaches itself from the runners. If this is done when trying to empty the rack then you could end up with lots of broken crockery as it falls onto the lower rack.On a minor note the kitchen extractor fan could do with a clean.At the end of our stay we tried to follow the rules and put the rubbish out in the correct bins but could not find any bin bags for the recycling items (there were plenty of black bin liners). The notices around the bins state “no loose items” but ours were put in loose.Although there is this list of things that were “not quite right” we did enjoy our stay and would recommend it to others.

In an exclusive estate, it gives you privacy whilst also very close to the town centre.

In an exclusive estate, it gives you privacy whilst also very close to the town centre. You have a large park next door and a large pond. A walk into town only takes 5 minutes and you are 5 minutes drive from the beach. Loved the property and would book again. The property owners were also contactable and were very helpful.

The location of the house was absolutely lovely and the size and layout great but the inside needed some TLC. Blind ends fell off when you shut them,curtain tie backs had come out of the wall and were left on the window sill and the carpets could do with a good clean along with some of the house The fridge was broken inside and had no shelf to stand milk etc.The bed linen had holes in it also. Could be excellent but just glad we didn't go the week after and paid the extra .

Good location for Shanklin centre.

Good location for Shanklin centre. Can be walked but the pathways are narrow. The overall location of the house is excellent with good views to the front. Property has its own parking space which is excellent. There is only a stone/ slab yard to the rear with no view due to high wall of property behind and property fence. Garden furniture dirty and didn’t want to open the BBQ. Cleanliness / tidiness not that great and sofas uncomfortable. En-suite shower to the top bedroom very small. So consider before renting. Coffee mugs chipped and not that many in the house so we bought our own. Despite looking relatively new the washing machine soap dispenser was mouldy and needed to be cleaned before use. Definitely in need of some TLC by the owner.

We enjoyed our time here very much, it was a great base for touring the island, the setting is ideal

We enjoyed our time here very much, it was a great base for touring the island, the setting is ideal and peace and quiet is perfect! The only down sides were, the cottage needs a little more work with the general cleaning with things like the sky lights and blinds, the ants in the hall and living room were not nice and the garden furniture and the bbq don’t seem to have been cleaned for months which was a shame. Overall though great place to stay would love to come back again, oh and the guest book that was mentioned was no where to be found.

Very Nice House in Lovely Surroundings. Ideal for Dogs

This is very nice 3 bedroomed house set in parkland. Ideal for dog owners as you only have to step out of your front door to give them a good run! The house is fairly well-equipped but a lack of wi-fi combined with a poor phone signal was a disappointment. The back garden is VERY small but has a BBQ and table and chairs. It is very secure.All-in-all though a good property at a fair price. We will almost certainly return.
