Wonderful Stay!

The house was extremely well-kept and clean with a beautiful view of the lake. The owner was very hospitable and sweet. We also really appreciated the board games at the house. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful relaxing stay

A lovely couple of days in this beautiful beach house. The view from the balcony was the selling point and did not disappoint! We had a lovely time with everything we needed. Hosts were great to communicate with and very helpful. Highly recommend!

Lovely beachside break

Great little getaway. Really had the best of both worlds with a beachside holiday and also being able to explore Hobart and surrounds easily. We were very lucky with the weather and dusted off the kayaks and spent many an hour just gazing at the view. Nice cafe (touch of mo) and Sunday market not far away. Great area for walks on the beach and exploring rockpools. Be mindful that bigger supermarkets are a half hour away. Initial problem with the WiFi which was solved quickly with good communication. Overall a great stay with everything we needed.

Best holiday ever!

What an amazing place to stay. It's a true 'beach holiday' and once you hear the waves literally outside the window, you'll be won over. We had one of our best holidays here. The house had everything we needed and was in the most incredible location. The kayaks were a welcome bonus - sunset paddles were definitely a highlight. Highly recommend, we'll most definitely be back :)

To sum it up in one word “WOW” the views were absolutely amazing!! The facilities were fantastic, the kitchen equipped with everything we needed. Communication with the owner was quick and easy. I’ve not been back to beachbreak since before COVID and it was as lovely as ever. The house continues to be well appointed, cosy and comfortable, and the view just never gets old. Brought my partner here for the first time and he loved it too.

Relaxation on point!

What a location! We really enjoyed our stay in Opossum Bay and would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to getaway from the hustle and bustle, but still wanting to be close enough to Hobart to get in on the action. Our family of 4 took full advantage of the gorgeous weather and enjoyed the incredible beach access. The view was stunning and the house well equipped for our small family to rest and relax. Beds and amenities were all on point and there is a lovely little store close by if you need any bits and pieces. If you’re wondering if you should take the holiday, you should!

Nice to stay...

Right on the beach you hear the sound of the waves and see the tide... The house has everything, maybe except wifi, you need to stay. Easy to contact the owner, Chris don't let you down in case. Nice sleepy village and smal market store with cheepest fuel. If back in Tasmania the beachbreak should be a must! The shower in the bathroom has a little low pressier... but who cares!

A happy return to South Arm

This holiday home is superbly located overlooking Opossum Bay beach. There is direct access to the beach. The water is clear and safe to swim in. There is no rubbish or debris. It is very peaceful out of season. The people are friendly. The views are spectacular. There are good walks nearby. It is only 40 minutes from Hobart International Airport. There is very little traffic. All-in-all, a great place for a holiday! PS: The owners act and communicate professionally.

Great position, everything we needed.

We appreciated the beachfront location and the many amenities in the house. For a longer stay it is great to have washer, dryer, adequate towels and all cleaning materials, and the heaters were appreciated on the colder days (and evenings). The house was clean when we arrived, and the cleaning materials enabled us to easily keep it that way. There was an electrical problem when we arrived, and the owners organised an electrician to come and find the fault the same evening, which was great. we found lots to do in the area, and it is a convenient base for activities south of, and in, Hobart.

Great spot!

A lovely spot to stay! Even though this property was a little out of the way, the location certainly added to our memorable Tasmanian holiday! We didn’t see dolphins, but we’re fortunate enough to experience some bioluminescence in the waves breaking on the shoreline during the night - visible from our bedroom window, followed a couple of hours later by the amazing site of a huge cruise ship fully lit, accompanied by tug boats going past our window just before 6 am - who would have thought! We may also have seen the Australis borealis on Thursday night, but as we didn’t have photographic gear set up, can’t be sure on that as this event isn’t normally obvious to the naked eye. Would have been nice if the bed linen and towels were a bit better quality. The bed was comfy and the view from bed was amazing! The shower operation was a bit tricky to get to work and fortunately neither of us have long legs otherwise the toilet could have been difficult to use.

Yet another lovely visit

beachbreak is our favourite winter break destination in Tasmania. We recently enjoyed another sensational long weekend at the house, staring out at the beautiful view. The property is scrupulously clean, very well presented, nicely stocked with utensils, herbs and spices in the kitchen. There is an electric hob and oven, as well as a microwave and large toaster. The heating works well in the winter so it's a lovely cosy place to stay with all the windows providing plenty of natural light. One bedroom upstairs (where you would put the kids if you brought them) and one downstairs. The upstairs bedroom has a walk down a spiral staircase to the toilet and bathroom, and is right beside the living area so possibly not great if somebody needs to go to bed early and is a light sleeper. We had no such problem! You hardly need a car once you get there (and in fact you can get there on the public bus) as there are miles of walking trails, four beaches and a shop within close walking distance - so we never leave the neighbourhood. The shop does a bit of fast food including fish and chips some nights, which is a great option. If you want to get out a bit further, the rest of the peninsula is spectacular including Cremorne Beach, Clifton Beach and Hope Beach. And the drive back to Hobart is around 45 minutes if you really want to hit MONA or Salamanca Market. Chris and Jane were kind enough to arrange a late checkout for us, so we were able to relax on our last day right up till it was time to leave.

Just a little slice of paradise

We spent four days and three nights in this lovely beachfront property. Although it was mid-winter, the weather was lovely and the two balconies were perfect little sun traps. My sister and I just adored staying in this perfect little house. The kitchen was well laid out with modern appliances including a dishwasher; the bathroom was modern and well-equipped (including hairdryer with diffuser); the heating worked well so we were cosy when the sun went down; the nights were quiet and we slept really well. As well as Opossum Beach, there are two other beaches within a five minute walk - Mitchell's Beach and Shelley Beach. A further 10 minute walk will bring you to Glenvar Beach, which is much longer and great for a stroll. I stupidly locked us out of the house one afternoon and called the owners who were most helpful and had their cleaner come and let us in within just a few minutes. The local shop is about a minute's walk away and as well as all the basics they do fish and chips! We didn't partake this time but will definitely do so again. The only tiny little thing I can think of was that the second bedroom doesn't have any electric plugs (or none that I could find). As one of us has a CPAP machine and the other was on call overnight, we both had the need to plug things in near the bed and you couldn't do that in that second bedroom. We got around it, but it's just something to keep in mind if like us there was a genuine need. This house has become our new go-to place in Tasmania and we can't wait to visit again.
