The Running Postman - Eco-friendly, linen provided

Located within 7 minutes walk of the stunning Carrickalinga Beach. This modern, eco-friendly home ensures you feel like you're on holiday the minute you step in the front door. The Running Postman offers couples the perfect romantic escape and families a great base for a fun-filled holiday. With rural views across a native garden to the hills and trees beyond you can sit back and relax whether you're at the beach or at 'home'.

The house has 3 bedrooms, two with queen sized beds and one with two sets of bunks, sleeping a maximum of 8 people. There are 2 bathrooms including an ensuite off the main bedroom.

To make your holiday as enjoyable and relaxing as possible we've done our best to ensure The Running Postman has everything you might need.
- A fully equiped kitchen, including staple pantry supplies, will help you cook up a storm if you so desire.
- A laundry makes extended stays more practical.
- A good range of CDs, DVDs, books and games will ensure there's never a dull moment.
- Air conditioning and a slow combustion fire mean that the temperature is perfect regardless of the weather!

Eco-friendly heaven

We immediately loved the aesthetic of this welcoming house. Nestled behind beautiful native trees and scrub, the outlook from the dining /living area has you feeling quite isolated yet it is only 7 mins walk from beach access. Really well appointed kitchen. Wonderful log fire. Most comfortable beds! Looking forward to staying again. The hosts are very accommodating and great with communication.

Comfortable with all the little extras

A great place to stay... very comfortable and quiet for a great nights sleep. All the little extras that are thoughtfully provided were nice. Linen provided is an extra bonus too. Everything was clean and fresh. Any time we were in contact with owners or property manager, they were helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome.

Really appreciated the eco-friendly elements of this property

I very much enjoyed my stay. The house is ideal, uncluttered and spacious with a lovely rustic garden. A great location and everything available for a stress-free and uncomplicated time away.

Winter at Running Postman

Wonderful for those colder days with the wood fire heating the whole house. The living area is light and airy catching the morning sun and the view across the native garden and to the hills beyond is restful.The kitchen is well equipped (there is even a wok!) and the pantry is the best stocked I've seen with all those things that always get forgotten.The short walk to the beach and the short drive to Normanville make for a relaxed, peaceful and cosy break at Running Postman.

Relaxing in nature

When we pulled up the driveway into the Australian native garden we were greeted by two yellow tailed black cockatoos. This house was a clean and well equipped holiday home . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, comfortable beds and a cute backyard with fresh herb garden .Will definitely come back .Oh. I enjoyed reading the story about the house and how it all happened.

Lovely home and great host.

Lovely weekend at the Running Postman! Best things were: Host communication - Kirstin is just so accommodating Combustion heater Linen supplied (who wants to make beds when your on holiday) Back yard, a pleasant spot to sit in the sun Lots of games to play, we had a UNO tournament each night. Highly recommend!

Beautiful holiday home in a stunning location

We had a lovely week, this holiday home had everything we needed. Loved all the thoughtful touches, like the books and board games etc, and the linen being provided. Perfect for our family of 5.

Return visits!

We have enjoyed many weekend getaways at The Running Postman over many years. The fact that we keep coming back is testament to the great all-round experience it is; great host, love the eco features, attention to detail and beautiful location that offers both rural and seascapes. We can't beat it for a relaxing getaway.

Relaxing Retreat

Our weekend away

Pre-Christmas bliss

We enjoyed a wonderful couple of days at the Postman's at the riverside end of beautiful Carrickalinga. The light filled accommodation was comfortable, peaceful and relaxed. We made use of various areas (back and front decks and inside) to chill, read, chat and eat. The beach was a 10 minute walk away and such a special spot. The hosts were informative and accessible. Thank you!

I took my mum (85) away on our annual holiday. We had the best time, relaxing! The house was wonderful and airy and one with nature. We love the feel and space and we’re very at home. All the comforts of home. Such a pretty area to explore or just sit with a cuppa! Perfect retreat.

Beautiful house and location, spacious for 4 adults. Comfy lounge and two outdoor decks. Relaxing on the front deck in the deck chairs was lovely. Beach walks both days as the beach was so close. Great selection of games and some dvds. Cupboards stocked with plenty of crockery and glass wear. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful property in a fantastic location

My family and I (husband and 2 children) spent 9 nights at the Running Postman during Easter. As soon as we arrived, the place felt like home. Very clean and comfortable and beautiful views... not to mention the excellent communication with the owner of the property. We particularly enjoyed the log fire on the cooler evenings and the private back yard. The location was perfect...just a few minutes walk to the spectacular Carrickalinga beach where we watched dolphins swimming past each morning and evening. With a bike path at the end of the driveway, we were also able to explore much of the local area on 2 wheels. We spent our 9 days cycling, kayaking, surfing, visiting local wineries and walking along the beach. We would highly recommend this property and hope we will be back again soon.

Loss of power

The location was misleading, not advising of surrounding direct neighbours. Loss of power during last night, eventuating in the need to leave early following morning - due to refrigerated items, unable to charge phones etc… No reply from owner re issues…

Anfitrião: Kirstin Abley

Kirstin and Anthony love Carrickalinga and enjoy being able to share their little piece of paradise with travellers. We have two young children so the house is equipped with all you need to make travelling with children a little bit easier.

Por que o anfitrião escolheu essa propriedade

We originally built The Running Postman to live in permanently but had to relocate to Adelaide for work reasons. We couldn't bear to sell our house so we decided to rent it out so that we could continue to enjoy our little beachy sanctuary whilst also allowing others to share it.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

When we built the house we orientated it to make the most of the relaxing rural views. Waking up in the morning to the views of the garden and the hills beyond, often with grazing horses or kangaroos, is a great way to start the day. And the short walk to the beach is a great way to continue it!
