I rented this home in Sunset Captiva for my son and his family from California. My husband and I stayed at another home in the same neighborhood and another son and his family stayed in a third home here. We all had great experiences and enjoyed the ability to spend time together while having quiet spacious homes to enjoy. It was perfect for a family gathering. The location is beautiful and the property is well maintained. Access to the beach, a pool, and local businesses is ideal.

Very comfortable home with excellent beach amenities- plenty of beach chairs, umbrella, etc. We really enjoyed the large screened in porch and outdoor dining table. The complex’s pool is fantastic, with plenty of lounge chairs. Short walk to the beach and Captiva restaurants. Highly recommend!
The place was great and the development is very kid friendly. We met many people who come here year after year. The house was as pictured, clean and well maintained. There is one improvement that would make us more likely to return -- a king sized bed in the master suite that is firmer than the existing queen. The current bed is very soft.
The house was perfect for our family. Very well equipped with beach toys for the kids, beach chairs and coolers for the adults. Had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay.
We loved staying at 47 Sunset Captiva! What a lovely house. It suited our party of 6 adults very well. The beds were comfortable, the house was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The property manager provided detailed instructions and we found everything just as it was advertised. Everything in the home was in good working order.
The location of this Property on Oster Within the Sunset Captiva community was only a short walk from the boardwalk out to the beach. Along the way to the beach we walked past beautiful (I mean breathtaking!) landscaping complete with several blooming orchids and bougainvillea and jasmine plants. If you come here be sure to look up into the palms to see giant travelers palms in bloom. And Nesting Osprey families chatting and hunting together! The bird watching on the beach was really special. There was a large flock of skimmers that congregated on the beach everyday. We saw pelicans and egrets and little sandpipers all day long. And the best surprise of all was the daily appearance of dolphins (mommies with little babies!) playing and hunting fish only a few yards from the beach. Beautiful! At night because the islands are national wildlife preserves there were no lights on the beach. But the boardwalk remained lit with soft yellow lights so you could easily and safely get back and forth from the beach.
The pool was clean and a perfect temperature. We visited in Early November so no place was crowded and we never waited for meals or seating at the Mucky Duck or chairs at the pool. It was practically perfect in every way. I’m so glad we found this place!
We booked this house due its proximity to everything in the village. This vacation was to celebrate my daughters' graduations (high school and master's degree). Their dad and family were in South Seas, just a short distance away. The house was spacious and met our needs. We were close to the pool and beach. We had a great time! Loved the iguanas and rabbits. We don't have the iguanas in Central Florida.
The condo at 47 Sunset was perfect for my group. The bedrooms with attached bathrooms were convenient and comfortable for everyone. The main living area was perfect for spending time together as a family!! There were ceiling fans in every room and the air conditioning was exactly what you needed after a long day at the beach and pool!! The screened in porch was absolutely lovely, the surrounding trees made you feel like you were in your own tropical paradise without all the bugs!! There are 3 ceiling fans outside on the porch making it very comfortable, even in hot July!! We were provided with everything we needed from beach chairs, umbrellas, floats, sand toys, and beach towels! The pool (and bathrooms) were clean, just a short walk down the well maintained gorgeous, street that also led to the private boardwalk to the beach! We had an amazing week and cannot wait to return!! The location was perfect. The next street over hosts many different restaurants, bars, and shops. There's something for everyone!!
If I had to say something negative I would say that there was a lot of debris under the house, it was not as well taken care of as the surrounding condos/ homes. BUT there was a hurricane the week before we arrived, so I think that was why!!! It certainly wasn't terrible, but the only thing I can think to mention.
Master shower needs updated
Dinning room chairs are uncomfortable to say the least.
Dryer needs work clogged vent or something.
These are a couple thoughts the house is nice.
Location location location & very comfortable accommodations. Everything you need at your fingertips & short walk to beach & bubble Room. What else could you possibly need?
This was our 3rd time staying in Sunset Captiva. This time we had a great stay at #47. The best part was the screened in deck/porch. We spent hours out there playing cards having dinner etc. , very private and cozy. We had no issues with anything and were very comfortable at all times. Captiva is our go to getaway and staying in #47 was perfect.
We had a great week and 47 Sunset is a beautiful home to spend a vacation. Great location and in walking distance from everything we needed. Can't wait until our next trip to Captiva!
The home was not clean and there were ants everywhere. We bought tons of groceries to cook but the ants got into half of our food and had to be thrown out. We put remaining food in the oven and ants made there way into the oven. We ended up eating meals out due to this. The first floor bath shower leaked to the point of mopping the floor after each use. After complaining the management company set ant traps they seemed to make more ants come into the home. They were all in the first floor bath, kitchen and laundry. My husband even found an ant on his head.
It was gross. The management company did come to caulk shower and it somewhat improved. There are non working outlets in the den. The home was dirty. There were black hairs in the master bath. The beach chairs provided were not in good shape so we bought our own. This home is dated.
This is a neat area for kids but a few of the homeowners were down right rude. They called the cops when the noise was not bad at all. They sent the the hoa manager to the beach and after he stood glaring at a group of us for 25 minutes like a creep he came over and told us he was tired of the owners complaining about the vacationers.
Then, he told us not to come back.
The HOA seems to be very confused. Seems like some owners enjoy the income and others do not like vacationers. If you are wanting to night swim and enjoy friends this is not the area for sure.

The house was thoroughly cleaned before the renter's arrival. Ants are a problem when people leave food unwrapped on the counters, like anywhere else. Renter was asked to never come back. Enough said?
Great spot for a family vacation on Captiva Island! Nice, large screened in deck was great for meals, games, etc. Sunset Captiva has all the amenities you need!
It has been several years since we stayed at #47 Sunset Captiva.
The house was as we remembered it.
One place where a bit of cleaning was neglected was the living room rug.
There were several spill marks on the carpet that easily could have been sponged out.

Thanks for your helpful comments. I have ordered a carpet shampooing.
Great beach house, wonderful porch, lovely location but the carpets can use cleaning and the beds are too soft and uncomfortable to sleep on!

Loved the place
This is a very nice house to stay at. We loved all two weeks of it. The only this that I can say needs attention is the small ants that are in the kitchen. A pool at the house would have been a plus but there is one around the corner. Like I said we love this place and we will be back.

Can't wait to return!
This was our first trip to Captiva Island, and we loved it so much we booked to go back again next year. Sunset Captiva 47 was the perfect home for our family. It is very spacious, and we appreciated having the extra room for our family of four. I was in several of the other houses in the community, and this home was the best use of space out of all of them. The home is well maintained and had everything that we needed. There were plenty of beach toys, nice Tommy Bahama beach chairs, and a cart to transport everything to the beach which is just a quick walk. Our kids, ages 12 and 10, loved the community and the close proximity to Andy Rosse where they were able to walk by themselves for ice cream daily. I highly recommend Sunset Captiva 47!
