My husband and I were not at all sure what to expect when we decided to go to Grayhawk in Scottsdale. We had been to Scottsdale before but the Venu is definitely more than a few steps above what we had previously experienced. What we found was the most enjoyable vacation we've ever had.
For one thing, our hosts were absolutely fantastic. They made our stay special. They treated us like we were in their home. They were concerned when my husband needed a doctor and they had their doctor check in on him. Everything was in the unit that we could possibly want. We did not have any maintenance issues but if we did, they had a handyman on staff and available at a moment’s notice. Very professional.
The other thing we found is that the guests there were about the friendliest people we've ever encountered on vacation. My husband and I tend to be pretty shy and reserved, and yet we ended up meeting so many people there. We spent hours chatting with people from all over the world.
The food prepared by our private chef, Mike, was out of this world. From other resorts we've been to, we expected the food to be just mediocre, but were very pleasantly surprised to find that it was a culinary experience.
One thing that surprised me is the age range of the guests. There were some younger couples (perhaps late 20s or early 30s), lots of couples in their late 30s to late 40s, and a fairly large contingent of couples in their 50s and 60s.
One thing to keep in mind if you plan to go is that you should come prepared to "dress up" for the evening parties and the disco. Thankfully, my wife had packed a few fun dress-up things for me, but I would strongly recommend that you get a list of the theme nights and try to bring something fun to wear. No pressure at all though -- plenty of people (myself included, on several nights) came to the disco in just normal clothes, or normal evening clothes, or whatever else they had handy.
I would recommend the Venu at Grayhawk to anyone. It re-energized our lives.
