About this property
Westlake Cottage - Great Weekly & Monthly Rates - walk Downtown
Welcome to our highly walkable neighborhood.
Enjoy the hospitality of one of Bend's family-owned, micro businesses on a peaceful street in a carefully-renovated, 1922, west side bungalow. This homey abode, named for the Westlakes, 60-year residents of the house, blends new furnishings and finishes with old time character and charm. The large lot boasts gorgeous lilacs, honeysuckle and iris blooming in spring, a wild butterfly garden in summer, and plenty of room for snow men and snow forts in the winter. Wildlife frequently visit the neighborhood, including mule deer, rabbits, quail, hawks and hummingbirds. A great house for out-of-town grandparents visiting family in the area. The Westlake Cottage is located north of Portland Ave on NW 3rd St on a quiet residential street of older homes.
The house can sleep up to 5 people in two bedrooms with queen-sized beds in each ('NovoPure' organic construction mattresses) and on a full-sized futon couch in a semi-private family room. A gas fireplace makes the living room cozy in winter, and in summer there's AC in the back half of the house. Summer sun makes the whole house cheery.
The First Street Rapids on the Deschutes River (a great place to swim on hot summer days) is a short, four block walk from the Westlake Cottage. From the Rapids you can follow the River Trail downstream for miles along a well marked path, or cross the footbridge and walk upstream 10 minutes and be in downtown.
An easy ten minute walk will get you downtown to enjoy brewpubs, fine restaurants, coffee shops, live local theater and music, and of course, Goody's old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
We aim to make your stay as pleasant as possible. When you arrive, you'll find coffee, tea, and laundry washer/dryer inside the house. Let us know if you need any assistance!
Rental apartment taking shape: The building of an apartment at the back of the property is nearly complete now. Activity at the build should be minimally noticeable, if at all, within the Westlake Cottage. The new ADU shares backyard space with the Westlake Cottage until we can re-landscape the backyard through the summer.

A great place to stay. Quiet neighborhood, close to everything, off street parking and a well equipped property with comfortable beds and everything you need for a stay whether you stay in and do your own meals, or are more of a restaurant person. Recommended
Another great visit to Bend and, once again, Eric and Barb and Westlake Cottage did not disappoint. Clean, well appointed, quiet - everything we needed for resting and relaxing after our adventures in the Bend area. Eric and Barb are excellent hosts - timely responses to our questions and always ensuring that we had what we needed to enjoy our stay. Definitely would stay at Westlake Cottage again.
Our second visit to Westlake Cottage was great! The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived and had everything that we needed for an enjoyable visit to Bend. Barb and Eric responded quickly to our questions. We look forward to our next visit and stay at Westlake Cottage.

A good value...
The house is very clean, well appointed and an excellent value since there is no cleaning fee. However, we're a little old for hard futon mattresses, so I'm afraid we won't be renting this place again. Despite the name of the house, there is no lake nearby.

The Westlake Cottage is named for the Westlakes, 60-year residents of the cottage. We are honored to have been entrusted with their beloved home.
We proudly support Make Local Habit by purchasing locally manufactured futon mattresses.
The Property is great. There are deer, quail and birds of all types that can be seen from either the front or back porch. The layout of the house is great for togetherness or for solitude. The location is fantastic. It is less than a 10 minute walk to Bend Brewing Company or a 40 minute walk to Hayden Homes Amphitheater (for great concerts) or the Old Mill District. We spent 30 days and still didn't get to do everything we wanted to do, could have easily spent another 30 days in this house. Great Property owners/neighbors. We hope to be back next year for an even longer stay.
We enjoyed our stay at Westlake cottage. It was easy to walk to the Deschutes River and find a spot to sit on a rock or dip your feet or even sit in the river if you so desire.
The house was clean. The towels and linens were great. The shower is fabulous and so is the soaker tub.
We love to cook and found all the dishes and cookware to be suitable for our needs.
Eric and Barbara are close and available to help as needed.
Mule deer roam the neighborhood and even hang out in the yard. Birds were abundant as we sipped our coffee in the morning on the back deck.
A perfectly acceptable house for a small family or a two couples to call home for whatever length of time is needed.
It’s easy to get to the main arteries and the downtown space from this location. The neighborhood is very quiet.
We explored Mt Bachelor, Elk Lake, sparks Lake, the McKenzie River and even went off to Crater Lake for the day. All trips were easy from this location.
A great vacation for us.
Thank you Eric and Barbara for this great rental.
We spent almost a month in Eric and Barbra’s cottage. The original cottage is well kept and the bathroom has recently been renovated. There is an extension that serves as the living area. The cottage has plenty of charm - squeaking floors and a noisy furnace included.
The location is superb. The river and old town are within walking distance and the neighbourhood is bordering on pittoresque and feels very secure.
Eric and Barbra are wonderful hosts - always friendly and helpful.
Best location and close to river. Enjoyed walking to and sitting in a beautiful spot in the water just minutes away. Kind and attentive owners who live right next door. Comfortable beds. Read description closely, no A/C, but owners provided fans to help with air circulation. Lovely cottage-like home in fabulous neighborhood.
Great location, wonderful house and property owners live next door. House was clean and neat, owners were super friendly and helpful! Eric even brought flowers over on Valentine’s Day.
We really enjoyed staying at the Westlake Cottage! Eric, the owner, was extremely accommodating and was a great resource! The house was in a perfect location; less than a 10 minute walk into downtown. The house was very clean and the kitchen was nicely updated and had everything you needed to cook full meals. The beds were extremely comfortable and it was great having a futon in the TV room that easily broke down into a bed. I would highly recommend renting this house!

Thank-you for a wonderful...
Thank-you for a wonderful Bend experience. The craftman style house was lovely and a short walk to downtown and the river. Our entire family enjoyed the neighbors and their children and would love to visit again. Keep up the live music, it's great!

This is a gorgeous cottag...
This is a gorgeous cottage spacious enough for 6 if you're okay with sharing 2 to a bed. It is very convenient to downtown Bend and about a 30min walk to the Old Mill district for summertime concerts. I definitely plan to stay at the Westlake Cottage again. Thank you Barbara and Eric for creating such a cozy, homey cottage so close to town.
