We ask all of our guests to do their best to follow the “golden rule” of treating our place the way they would like visitors to treat their home and other than the necessary general cleaning, that they leave it as they found it. We also add a Ghandi twist of being the change they want to see in the world. This seems to open the door of kindness, accountability, trust and awareness for all involved.

There are many crystals, stones and beautiful rocks that have been placed in the building/home/lodge as well as throughout the grounds. Please enjoy their beauty without removing them from where they have been placed. It has taken years and a lot of dedication and love to assemble this collection and we would like to continue to share their beauty with all the guests to enjoy, while they are on the property, for years to come.

Perfection

Exceeded our expectations in every way. Spent a whole day exploring the 10 acre estate and the surrounding properties at a leisurely pace and just family, no crowds!! Yet we were close enough to see Zion and Bryce with a short drive. The idea of being off grid fascinated me but all the comforts of home were still available. The Host were very knowledgeable about the area and shared information/ideas as asked. They wanted us to relax, recharge and enjoy their part of the world and we did. Thanks

This is the best VRBO I have ever been to! Hank the host is amazing and helped us plan an amazing trip for my wife's birthday. The pictures of this place are great but cannot do this place/location justice. I would HIGHLY recommend this place if you are planning a trip to Zion.

AMAZING!

Sitting in the hot tub and watching the mountains change color as the sun sets was just the most beautiful sight. Our stay was wonderful, Hank and Mariangela were the greatest of hosts, saying this, after having stayed at many VRBO properties. Peaceful, tranquil, and soothing to the soul, this property is a fantastic place to stay with easy access to all Zion has to offer!

Perfect retreat!

Very cool property right in Zion with amazing views and lots to do in the area. There is a separate area with bedrooms and a large common space filled with lots of musical instruments which my 2 kids really loved. Hank and Mariangela were amazing hosts and so helpful with recommendations for local hiking areas and restaurant recommendations. We loved every minute of our stay here!

The home boasts stunning views and since it sits on acres inside Zion National Park, hiking is available from the front door. There’s so much to do- we wish we had longer!

Spectacular!

This is a rare rental where the house and property are better than the pictures. What a pleasant surprise! It was voted our favorite vacation as we left which is tough with 3 teenagers. The hosts live on site but it really felt like their job was to make our stay enjoyable. They are very helpful but also not intrusive. We lucked out and got to see a meteor shower from the hot tub at nights after days of hiking. Truly spectacular!!

specutacular views, spritual retreat

You can tell that the owners love their property and the surrounding area, they are very kind and attentive to your needs. The beds, towels and furniture were luxurious. Definitely take the owners suggestion to bring ice for a large cooler that they provide, the home is "off the grid" and your drinks and refrigerator will thank you for it. We loved hot tubing at dusk than making a fire and roasting marshmallows at night, the evenings are spectacular! CONS (they are not really cons; however, this property if very unique and there are a few helpful things to be aware of): - The house is located fairly close to the road. The owners live on site, actually on a seperate side of the home...with their own entrance. They are very quiet and unobtrusive. There is also a trailer with a quiet occupant located close to the home on the other side of the driveway. -We were there mid June and the "little gnat like bus" were terrible. They came out when the weather warmed up and went away when it was cooler. We would have loved to spend all of our time outdoors; however, they drove us inside usually. The first part of trip was in Springdale, it was 10 degrees warmer there; however, the bugs for some reason were not as bad. We would stay here again as this property is very unique.

This home was absolutely amazing inside and out and the location cannot be beat. Fantastic hiking all around us and never saw another person. Hank was so helpful in finding the great hikes for us to take every day, we were never disappointed. Loved the hot tub and used it every night after a day of hiking. Kitchen was the best stocked kitchen I have ever had at a vrbo house. We cooked in most nights and enjoyed the outdoor fire place after dinner. Never even turned on the TV. Only touched my phone to take pictures. Unplugged and loved it.

We cooked each night in a lovely kitchen. We relaxed in the hot tub with a stunning view of the mountains. Hank was a friendly and informative host.

Amazing from start to finish!

The property is mind-bogglingly beautiful, and the house a true retreat/sanctuary. 360 views with plenty of space to relax and enjoy, or eat and take it all in. Hank and Mariangela were ideal hosts, and made us feel very welcome and cherished as guests. Hank in particular went out of his way to show us paths to walk/hike and ensure we didn’t get stuck (as we are city folks). You will be at peace at this property.

Hank was the perfect host. I have traveled all over the world and this was one of the most unique houses I have ever stayed in. Totally off the grid but with all of the comforts of home; which was needed after long days of hiking Zion. Loved sitting on the back porch and watching the beautiful sunset. Got to meet the pups and kitty. Hank met us on a walk last night and answered any/all of the questions we had from the types of rocks to things to do around the area. Extraordinary Experience

The house and grounds are lovely. It was great to have the host nearby because he was so kind and helpful, providing guidance on the best hikes, took us on a short walk across the high desert behind the house to see an amazing overlook, and helped us start the oven when we had trouble with the control. The kitchen was very well appointed. The beds were all comfortable. Each room Is decorated with unique items and care with chosen with care. And the grounds outside are delightful to explore, with a variety of statuary, windchimes, shady sitting areas, and some of the trees have faces, reminiscent of Tolkien’s Ents. I can’t say enough about our stay there. Just that it was wonderful, and you will have to go see it for yourself.

WOW! Stunning Location!

This is an incredibly special place and even exceeded our expectations! The views in every direction are stunning, and sitting on the patio playing a game while the sun went down was a favorite thing to do. The owners were amazingly helpful all the way from suggestions for hiking to grocery stores. The latter was critical as there was no way we wanted to leave this beautiful place to go out to dinner, and the town has a very nice small grocery store. The kitchen was very well stocked but be aware that, because of the ingenious approach the owners have used to build off the grid, there is no microwave, so plan to use stove or oven for heating things. For those who like a little news or other TV at the beginning or end of the day, there is DirecTV which was a great addition. From kitchen to TV to bathrooms, you would never know you were off the grid, and the wifi was great as well. You can be as attached or detached as you like. This home offers an exceptional alternative to the very busy town and park while still being close to the Zion Canyon area. The owners are such nice people who clearly love the place and the surrounding area. We look forward to returning and highly recommend a stay at this wonderful home.

About the host

Hosted by Hank and Mariangela

Host profile image
My name is Hank and I live with my wife in Zion National Park. We maintain a wonderful secluded vacation rental on a 10 acre private estate inside the park. We welcome all to come and spend some time away from the stress of life and enjoy a unique and intimate experience of Zion.

Hank and Mariangela have been the loving stewards of Zion Villa True North for almost 19 years, welcoming visitors to their villa since 2006 when they first opened to the public. Creating True North here in Zion National Park was a dream of Mariangela's that she had from her undergraduate years with a dear friend who died of AIDS years ago. Their dream was to design and build a sanctuary where guests could come and "unplug" from the tethers of their lives and connect with their True North through an intimate experience with each other and the majestic beauty of nature.

Why they chose this property

Building this place here in Zion was a fulfillment of a dream that my wife Mariangela had during her undergraduate years with a dear friend who died of AIDS a long time ago. Her dream was to design and build a place where people could come and "unplug" from the tethers of their lives and be in-touch with their "True Selves" and have an intimate experience with those they came with and Zion.

We built this place in Zion originally as a retreat center whereby guests would come to compose music, write books, design artwork, or have men’s or women’s, yoga or other types of retreats. Therefore, we designed the bedrooms to be small yet beautiful with the emphasis is on the community space. We have had guests from as small as one person, to honeymoon couples, to family reunions, corporate team building, to outdoor weddings.

As a result of being located actually inside the park, it was necessary to design and build a fairly sophisticated and comprehensive off the grid facility with tracking solar panels, automatic computerized generator back-up, well and water filtration systems, satellite internet and TV, etc.. As a result, my wife and I live on the property to of course enjoy Zion but also to maintain those systems to be transparent to our guests. Our dwelling is separate but attached to the retreat center/vacation rental.

We of course are on the property should you have any questions, but absolutely respect our guests’ privacy.

What makes this property unique

Zion Villa - True North is actually located inside and surrounded by Zion National Park - away from the crowds and next to the trails.
