The Anchor House- Meredith Lodging

The Anchor House was custom designed and built to provide a special beach retreat for multiple generations. Located in the private gated community of South Beach in Neskowin, within a short walk to the secluded sandy beach (path to the beach from the home), and surrounded by natural beauty. It has been carefully appointed with quality furnishings, original artwork, and interesting objects for all to enjoy.

The home provides intimate spaces for quite enjoyment of the spectacular views, as well as spacious gathering areas. These include a game room with shuffle board, living room with fireplace, and charming dining areas, with seating for 10. All with amazing coastal views! One of the most unique features of this beautiful home is the “tower”, a two-story covered deck area that provides sweeping views of the ocean, Proposal Rock, and the surrounding hills.

Within walking distance of charming Neskowin Village that offers fine dining, a farmers’ market, gourmet grocery store, and delicious wood fired pizza. Neskowin also provides ample outdoor recreation including a historic golf course, horseback riding, hiking, and kayaking, just to name a few.

Both Pacific City and Lincoln City are just fifteen minutes to the North and South for additional shopping, dining and recreational opportunities. Neskowin provides the perfect home base for exploration of the spectacular North Oregon Coast!

Enjoy spectacular ocean views and all the comforts of home from this modern beach house located in the private gated community of South Beach in Neskowin. This location also puts you within a short walk to the beach (path to the beach from the home) and close distance to the Neskowin Village, Neskowin Trading Company Store, and the popular Hawk Creek Cafe.

Great location, easy access to the beach, excellent space for family to spread out for games & puzzles on a rainy day. Everything needed in the kitchen for making meals. Our only suggestion would be maybe a few more towels & more of a bath sheet size.

Family gathering

The home was so comfortable and clean. There was plenty of space for our family & the kitchen had everything we needed. The views are beautiful, and such a special beach close by. I guess it should be noted that the path down to the beach is a bit steep & could be slippery, though we didn’t have difficulty.

Wonderful location

The house was fabulous, clean and nicely decorated. We had 6 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of space for all of us. We loved playing shuffleboard and sitting in the "crow's nest" to watch the sunset and for afternoon reading time. The walk to the beach is an easy 10 minute walk with just a little bit of steepness. Our 4 year old did it with ease. Everyone wants to come back!

Beach and Mountain Oasis

This place is quite the find. The home has some outstanding charm and features. The view from the “crows nest” is absolutely amazing each time you cross into it. Then you add that the rooms are all excellently furnished with the master bed mattress being one my wife made remarks about each night in how it was a perfect hug. Then the other sneaky thing is the main floor bathroom is fully ADA and the shower has the most impressive water pressure and heat. We loved the views one way being the mountain and the other the ocean. The gathering spaces too are perfect for a family. When it come time to return to the coast this is going to be the first search we do.

Great views and nice house in gated community.

Meredith Lodging is NOT the company to use. Poor communications, did not answer emails or voicemails, charged fees for amenities not even on property. We loved the house and views, but the property owners need a different management agency with VRBO.

Wonderful location

The views from this property didn't disappoint. As soon as you step out of your vehicle, you can see and hear the ocean. The home was spacious for our family of 7 and the kitchen was adequate and well stocked for providing meals. The beds were comfortable. There are a couple of things to be aware of. First, the freezer in the kitchen is not working correctly, and there appears to be mildew growing in the freezer. Secondly, the path to the beach isn't passable due to the overgrowth of weeds and bushes, so you do need to drive around to the beach. All in all, it is a lovely home and we would stay there again.

3-Generation Family Celebration

We were celebrating wedding anniversaries, as well as a graduation. The house worked well for our a 3-generations. We had food items with us to cook dinner that first night and breakfast the next morning. However, when we arrived some basic items for cooking dinner and breakfast were missing: no coffee filters, pot holders, or napkins; and only 6 place mats for 8 people. Our son had to make a trip to the Safeway in Lincoln City to get those items. The microwave is located in an extremely awkward position. The path to the beach was too steep for us 2 seniors, and the view tower is wide open to the cold wind. The house was cold for us seniors; the thermostat seemed to fluctuate between 66 and 72. Overall we would strongly recommend the house, but it would be nice to have all basic supplies.

Spacious home with access to quiet, beautiful beach

We stayed here for a little family reunion, with other family staying at nearby properties. We were able to all eat together one night with the kitchen table and dining table providing enough room for a larger group. The home has quality furnishings and comfortable beds. The shuffleboard table was fun, and there’s many, many DVDs and some kids games and puzzles too. The kitchen had all the dishes needed but not much as for salt and pepper, oil, etc. There were some spices and I bought a salt and pepper to leave there. There were a couple little things that could use attention, like a loose faucet but overall the home was gorgeous and clean. There’s a spigot outside for rinsing off sand, a gas BBQ, sand toys for the kids. There aren’t any beach towels but plenty of bath towels. Bring your own beach blanket. Luckily there was some laundry soap and dishwasher soap. I wish there had been a few coffee pods, sugar and creamer just for that first morning. The path between properties down to the beach is a bit steep, my mom’s knees didn’t love it, but it’s not unsafe. There is a road if you want to drive down and drop someone off close to the beach. We loved our stay and would go back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful location

This was our second visit to The Anchor House. Beautiful location. The house was super clean and beds comfy. Kitchen is well stocked and we loved the upgraded kitchen appliances. Only thing we lacked was a serrated knife. The storage area for the BBQ and beach gear was locked and Meredith could not find a key, but did drop off a BBQ for us to use on the second day after reaching out to them again. Had access to a couple beach mats, umbrella and some toys during our first stay; not accessible this year. Based on our first trip, we were aware no beach towels are provided for the guests. Would be a nice touch though, given this is a beach house. Would recommend a notice about trash pick up schedule be posted. We arrived Monday late afternoon and did not realize trash cans needed to go out. Yes, that info is in the check-in email but read that a week prior so not on the radar the evening we arrived. Heard the trash truck Tuesday morning while on the beach... Think others may have missed pick up day too. Trash can was almost filled to the top from the prior guest(s). There were numerous piles of dog waste in the yard upon arrival. Notified Meredith and was told they'd send someone out to clean up... didn't happen. Had a nice stay. Thanks for sharing your home!

Anchor House in Neskowin

To Meredith Lodging; I have not written a review yet. We enjoyed our stay at The Anchor House from January 31, 2022 to February 4, 2022 however we have some recommendations and suggestions for you. I guess depending how well these are received from your company will determine the tone of our review. We have compiled a list as follows: 1.) There were no bathmats. 2.) There were no napkins. 3.) There were only two single use packets of coffee. There were four of us so it would have been nice to have at least enough coffee to get us through a day until we could get to the store. 4.) The door of the microwave opens from the wrong side making it very awkward to use safely. 5.) There were no coasters. 6.) There were no pot holders. 7.) There were four remotes to the TV/Cable with no instructions as to how to use them. It took four college educated women to figure it out. Sort of ridiculous. 8.) There were no privacy curtains in the bedrooms. It made one of the women in our party very uncomfortable. 9.)The toilet paper roll holder is coming loose from the wall in the main level bathroom. 10.) There is no cover on the light/fan fixture in the main level bathroom. 11.) The bedroom with the bunk beds is probably great for guests traveling with children. Unfortunately our group consisted of women 60-70 years old. I'm fairly flexible however there was no way I could climb into any of the beds without hitting my head on something. I ended up sleeping on the upstairs couch. Not having my own bed was somewhat irritating. Next time I'll do my research more carefully, however I believe it would be helpful to describe that particular bedrooms sleeping situation in a little more detail. 12.) We were very cold, until our last night. I'll explain. The wood burning fireplace was wonderful, however the doors were so coated with soot that you couldn't see the fire with them closed. Since there was no screen it didn't seem safe to leave them open once we built a fire. The flu was open and drawing but the room got sort of smokey with a fire built. I had brought four Presto logs from home because I read in a review that there was no firewood. The only firewood was scattered in the front lawn and soaking wet, so I was grateful for that review. On our last nights stay we had a lot of trouble getting a fire started. We had made two trips to Bi-Mart to buy firewood and kindling. I was standing in the hallway in front of a bookcase watching two of my friends

Nice home in Neskowin

Really nice home in Neskowin and a great location. Seems like management has responded to prior reviews (there are curtains in all the bedrooms and the home is super clean/well-maintained). I agree that the path to the beach could use some work (it's pretty steep and a mix of mud and wet grass in the rain), but that's more on the homeowner than the management company. Would definitely stay again, thanks for having us!

Great!

The property is lovely and as pictured. Clean and comfortable with ocean views from several rooms. The tower is a unique and relaxing spot, with great ocean view. The kitchen was well-equipped and when the coffeemaker didn’t work, management brought us a brand new one within an hour (even though we didn’t demand it). The path to the beach should be improved. It is steep (but not long) and would be quite slippery after a rain. The walk to the gorgeous, private beach is reasonably short (5-10 min. ). There were puzzles and books for little ones and the bunk room is fun! Beds were good but not great. All in all, a great place!

Quiet beachfront getaway

This property was the perfect spot for our two families of four to enjoy our first visit to Neskowin. We had lots of indoor space to spread out when needed, and to hang out together comfortably in the main room. The views are incredible from various spots in the house and the “crow’s nest” was a fun place to watch the sunset. The short walk to the beach was also a major highlight!

Great place for a family at the beach

Property is very well appointed with lots of room for a large extended family. Great views and places to hang out inside as well as great access to a wonderful calm beach for daily play.
