Located in the historic farming community of Eagledale, your lovely 850 sf home is two miles from the ferry and a short walk to forest trails and Puget Sound waters. Reminiscent of an old barn on the outside, you will love the fresh, white, modern and light-filled interior. A special Vermont Castings propane stove keeps the space warm and cozy while thoughtful finishes show incredible attention to details. Privacy abounds in your space and on the surrounding greenspace. We love to have dog visitors and provide special amenities when you let us know that your 4-legged family is joining you when you book your stay.
Your adventure begins...
...in a new, modern, and fresh space with tons of natural light and privacy. Just imagine waking to the sounds of farm animals, sipping morning coffee on your covered porch as sunlight breaks through the big leaf maples. You can spend your days wandering miles of forested trails, biking island roads, kayaking or paddle boarding or combing sandy beaches of Puget Sound, searching for sea treasures. When nighttime falls, share stories around your backyard bonfire while counting stars as they fall from the sky.
Reminiscent of an old barn on the outside, natural light bounces off the concrete floors and fills every nook and cranny of the bright space. Built with materials that match LEED requirements, allergens, dust, and dirt are as minimal as can be in any living environment.
Radiant heated concrete floors keep you warm when winter days are wet and chilly, and cool when the sun’s rays spread wide across the yard’s big leaf maples. Scattered throw rugs add a dash of color and a soft landing for bare toes. A black cast-iron propane stove, set in a large fireplace surround formed with Rocky Mountain Granite, anchors the open kitchen and living space. An oversized white bubble fan swooshes air in and out paned wood clad windows, keeping the temperature inside always comfortable.
The well-stocked kitchen has all the essentials for cooking. You can cook in the gourmet kitchen with a full set of spices, pots, pans, and baking needs supplied. The special, new appliances include a Thermador dishwasher and gas stove/range. The deep farm sink with pull-out faucet makes cleanup easy.
The bathroom, covered in white subway tile from floor to ceiling, boasts a deep tub and shower combination with excellent water pressure, a comfort height toilet, and a modern vanity with porcelain sink and countertop.
The main floor bedroom has a queen Tempurpedic bed, four oversized windows with views to the forest and open field, and expansive closet space.
Up in the loft you will find a comfy Simmons pillow-top queen bed. Measuring almost 250sf, the loft offers an additional living area with sofa, desk, plenty of drawers for personal items, and bookcases filled with games, reading material, and treasures from around the world. A favorite, heirloom wicker rocking chair anchors the corner.
As a bonus, the grey sofa in the main living room pulls out to a twin-size bed.
Roller shades cover the windows on both levels of home.

Why Caroline Flohr Brooks chose Bainbridge Island
Located in the old farming neighborhood of Eagledale, on the south side of Eagle Harbor, homesteaders built their farmhouse on this acreage in 1906. Old fruit trees, evergreens, and big leaf maples grace the land. We are the fourth owners and have returned full life to the old homestead, making it our home, our sanctuary. Private and sunny you'll feel miles away from the world, and yet it's just minutes to the town of Winslow-Bainbridge Island's downtown corridor, and a short ferry ride to downtown Seattle. This is ol' Bainbridge living at its best...We love it here!
What makes this House unique
WHY YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS HOME: You'll hear coyotes cackle, owls hoot, and eagles squawk. While sipping morning coffee the deer will graze on your front lawn. You'll walk miles of trails from forest to beaches and back again while your favorite companion runs free beside you. You'll spot owls staring back at you from limbs of old growth cedars, eagles soaring above, and gaggles of geese migrate as the day progresses. You'll pick buckets of blackberries ripened by the summer sun. On clear evenings, you'll see the milky way and stars shooting across the dark sky. The sounds, sights, and touches of nature will fill you up. This is what makes the Little Farmhouse special.

A perfect weekend getaway
The Little Farmhouse was absolutely perfect and exactly what we needed to refuel from our busy lives. It’s amazing how far away from the city it seems, yet it’s just a short ferry ride from Seattle. The setting was bucolic and the house was immaculate. I’ve never stayed at a house that had such a well-stocked kitchen—we had everything we needed to prepare our meals. There are a ton of trails nearby, including a new trail just up the hill that Caroline told us about. We can’t wait to come back!
Hi Jocelyn, Thank you for being our guests! We were most pleased that even your 94yo grandmother found the Little Farmhouse warm and cozy. That we take as a true compliment! You are always welcome to return anytime!
Clean and modern farmhouse
We really enjoyed this farmhouse and found it easy to get to everything on Bainbridge. The owner was incredibly helpful and had lots of information about the property, things to do, and tips to help us enjoy our stay. Couldn't have been better.
My wife, 14 year old daughter, and I spent last weekend at the Little Farmhouse on Bainbridge Island. We found the Little Farmhouse was modern, clean and very comfortable. The kitchen appliances are very nice and we cooked a great meal after a shopping trip to the extensive supermarket in town. The kitchen was also complete with every spice and cooking item you would ever need. We slept with a window open and could hear coyotes and an owl talking after dark. The morning brought sounds from the farm. The experience was so relaxing. Reading next to the fireplace was also a treat. The large covered deck out front was another favorite place to relax with our books. We don't live far from Bainbridge but love to go for weekend getaways. The Little Farmhouse will certainly be on our list for a return visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay on Bainbridge Island. The house was compact but with a feeling of spaciousness, stocked with everything you would need. Very well appointed - charming!
Country life on the outside and clean, fresh modern life on the inside
The Farmhouse on Bainbridge Island is a perfect getaway. A short drive to town, this cute cabin sits in a relaxed farming area ensuring peace and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch drinking our morning coffee or, in the afternoon, kicking off our shoes and resting after a hike on one of Bainbridge's many trails. The furnishings and décor are comfortable and very tasteful. The owner is very accommodating. We appreciated all of the little extras she offered, especially the cold water bottles waiting for us in the fridge. We would certainly return.
Many thanks for staying with us! Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review. Am moving it to our home page for the feature review as it describes the experience we hope other guests will have. We hope to host you again soon. Caroline
The Little Farmhouse is a gem. Well appointed and comfortable.
Would rent a car for next visit as the island can be challenging to rely on ride sharing services and bicycles. The house is a walkable distance to the Japanese extraction memorial. Don't miss it.
Bainbridge is a community of artists and authors, outdoor enthusiasts, and entrepreneurs. Bring your sense of adventure, willingness to learn something new, or a desire to rest and relax and you will feel right at home.
