Everything was great from start to finish. Even though we had rain for half the week we still had a great time. We made good use of the pool, hot tub, paddle boat, paddle boards and boat. We also used the grill. Hosts were very friendly and helpful and gave us recommendations for local restaurants. Would definitely book again!

This was the best vacation rental! Everything was top quality and comfortable. The owners were the nicest people and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a fun stay. We enjoyed use of kayaks, paddle boards, and a canoe. Both the pool and the lake were wonderful. We were sad to leave this paradise by the lake!

It is an absolute paradise! What beats waking up to the sunrise on the lake, looking out from an infinity pool?!?! The accommodations are large and comfortable. The homeowners think of all the little extras, labeling lights and other things for ease of use. They go above and beyond with the paddle boat and other watercraft usage (in season). They live upstairs, but are considerate and reasonably quiet. It is such a great place, I actually do not want to tell everyone about it so that it is available any time I come to Chapin ;)

Home away from home.

Our stay on the lake was perfect. We arrived late in the evening and the owners had all the lights on for our arrival and a loaf of homemade bread. After a quiet night and great 8 hours of sleep we awoke to the beauty of Lake Murray. The only thing between us and the lake was an infinity pool. We could have used kayaks, paddle boards, or various other equipment. Lots of areas to just sit and read or chat. On Saturday evening the owners invited us to bring along family for a sunset boat ride. We would definitely stay again.

Location is perfect

Very nice lakefront property. The owners Jeff and Elizabeth were very accommodating. Jeff helped us unload our things and even took us on a boat ride to show us around the lake. There was also fresh baked bread waiting for us in the kitchenette. Although the owners are present onsite, there is still sufficient privacy. The beds were comfortable. Although there isn’t a full kitchen we were able to make breakfast with the electric skillet and toaster oven. There were also very nice grills available, although we didn’t use them. We did use the paddle boards, kayaks and pedal boats and had a great time.

Lake view was the best

From the pool to the lake was the absolute best looking views. The house in general was good. Maybe a bit much furniture in living area to relax and walk around. But the house was great place just a bit noisy from the owners upstairs walking sounded like stomping. But the people where great and their pup was very lovable too. I'd recommend going at least once to check out the lake. Very nice Christian people. ✝️ ;)

Our stay at Captain Jack's Retreat was very relaxing! The home is beautiful and the apartment was just as described, very clean and organized with plenty of space. The hosts have thought of everything you might need for your stay! The pool was lovely and you can't beat the view! We enjoyed the paddle boards, kayaks and floating in the lake. The lake was much nicer than we expected! The home hosts were very warm, welcoming and very accommodating.Just a note that the owners do live in the house, so you may hear a few footsteps upstairs and on occasional the dogs might bark, but it was not bothersome to us. Overall, our experience was a very pleasant one and we have stayed at many short term rentals and would rate this one near the top! If you are looking to experience Lake Murray, then this is a wonderful place to stay!

Captain Jack's is the place to go for rest. The comfort of the unit, the beauty of the surroundings, and the relaxation of the water all make for a vacation that is low key and rejuvenating. Mr. Jeff and Miss Elizabeth are authentically kind and sincerely want your stay to the absolute best. They bend over backwards to make sure your needs and request are met and they do it was such graciousness. This property will instantly calm you allowing you to enjoy being away from the stresses of day-to-day life.

Perfect Lakefront Vacation!!

Our week at “Captain Jacks Family Retreat” was well spent, with swimming, boating, and much needed R&R! Our hosts, Jeff and Elizabeth, were more than accommodating, on hand for whatever we needed, yet also giving us our space and privacy. The property was very safe and secure and the apartment was chock full of top of the line appliances and amenities. Not only was it immaculate and comfortable, but provided for lively evenings of game playing or TV watching (flat screen TVs in every room!) In addition to the many perks was a fresh homemade loaf of bread, waiting for us upon our arrival. The heated pool and spa was a daily favorite! There was a lovely view of a cove of Lake Murray, calm and peaceful at times, then fun-filled with boaters and water skiers. We were even treated to an incredible trip on their boat to see the daily flight of thousands of Blue Martins, returning to their roosts on a nearby island. Jeff and Elizabeth are the kindest people and their home provided everything vacationers could want, perfect for families with kids or couples wanting a relaxing getaway. We loved every minute of our stay and would definitely return!
