Come relax and enjoy our bright and spacious year round lakehouse retreat - Skipping Stone Lodge in Buffalo Sands!

Whether it's summer, winter, spring or fall, it's beautiful time to head for the lake.

Need a place for a summer vacation? Spend your days soaking up the sun, building sand castles and splashing in the lake (less than a 5 minute walk from the house). Kids like to play in the sand? Load up the wagon with buckets and shovels and head for the beach! Got a boat? Bring it along - there are boat launches within a short distance at both Rochon Sands and White Sands (no cost at either launch and and there is a place to park your vehicle/trailer while you are on the water at each). After a day of fun, enjoy a BBQ on the large deck while the sun sets.

Looking for something to do during the winter season? Bring your Skates!
Just steps away from the house, the neighborhood pond is maintained with a skating oval and an area for a friendly game of hockey - including nets! Lace up your skates, brew up some hot chocolate, build a fire in the outdoor fire pit and enjoy the winter with some family time outdoors.

Love to fish? Buffalo Lake is a great lake for fishing in the summer and the winter. The most common fish in the lake are Northern Pike and Burbot.

A perfect getaway from from the city with all the comforts of home. Only 1 hour and 45 minutes from Edmonton and 2 hours and 15 minutes from Calgary. Need supplies?Groceries? Looking to eat out or pick up some take out? The cottage is only 20 minutes from Stettler where you can find anything you may need during your stay.

No matter the season, everyone will find something to keep them busy! Board games at the kitchen table, a friendly game of ping pong in the walkout basement, a Disney+ movie with the family or catch up with your favorite sports team on the big screen with Sportsnet.

Swimming, skating, ice fishing, playing in the sand, roasting marshmallows or building a snowman - we have it all!

Fantastic family get-away

We had three generations of family staying for the weekend, and we all had a lovely time. There is lots for the kids to do, and the view is beautiful!

Amazing cottage

This property was an amazing cottage to stay near Buffalo Lake Great view of the fireworks without leaving Great vibe in atmosphere highly recommend and would get definitely go again

Our group of 9 had a great stay! There is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space if they wanted. The ping pong table was a hit. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Christmas Vacation

We had a fantastic stay here. 11 people total including 2 under 7 and 2 teens. We had more then enough space and were all very comfortable. The house has alot to offer and you can just show up with your pwrsonal belongings. Beautiful wood burning fireplace, gas down stairs. The hot tub was really nice too. We will most certainly be booking some time here this summer if available. Also communication with the hosts was amazing.

nothing but great things to say about this property. the location, people, extras, everything was perfect! so much space to play games, sit around the camp fire, go swimming, etc. lesli & dan were great at communicating & made the experience so much easier! will be back for sure!

Reunion

We had an awesome stay. The weather was great if a little warm. Our hosts responded whenever we needed something which wasnt often as we had just about everything we needed. The cabin is wonderful and roomy for all the family that came. We have been twice now and are hopefully planning a third trip.

Amazing area and home

It was exactly as presented. Not too far from Edmonton, making a nice quick drive to get a break from city life. It had everything we needed plus more. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing home for a family vacation!

Great home for a nice relaxing family vacation! The pond/skating rink in the backyard is gorgeous, and being in such proximity to the lake makes it even better. The highlight surely was the table tennis in the basement - lots of fun with the whole family. Dan and Lesli were great hosts! Extremely responsive and flexible to accommodate our requests. We'll be coming back for sure!

Christmas at the cabin!

We rented this house for our 13 member family as we took them on the Polar Express Train. The location was perfect: 25 minutes from the train. The house was great. We had the two youngest sleep on the floor and in a playpen in the upstairs master bedroom so there was room for all of us. The hot tub is always loved by kids and adults alike. Lesli was always prompt with her responses and was very accommodating. There is a great little hill to a 5 minute walk away so bring your crazy carpets if you book in the winter. We highly recommend this rental space! Thanks Lesli and Dan.

Great group spot for hockey tournament in Stettler

Perfect house for a few families to rent out for a Stettler hockey tournament. Lots of room and beds for the kids to sleep and play, kitchen was well set up for us to cook meals. We just wish we had more time to enjoy the skating rink by the house!

House is very nice. We used the ice shack which was ~10 min walk. Slow fishing but awesome shack The kitchen was setup well with pots, pans etc for meals. Check in and out were really easy. Everything was excellent

Hallmark Holiday!

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. A beautiful property. A quiet neighbourhood. Dan and Lesli were great hosts. I can’t say enough good things. The high light of our winter family getaway was the pond turned into skating rink right off the deck. A property fit for a family.

What a Wonderful Weekend!

Wow! We had such an amazing experience at this property. The house is spacious and very well equipped- we loved the big deck overlooking the pond and the ping pong table in the basement the best. The location is great as well, such a cute little community with really great views, walking trails, close to the water, etc. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you so much! We're so thankful for the stay and will definitely be back!

Family time at Buffalo Lake

Our extended family of 13 (including seniors, adults, teenagers and kids) had a great time at Skipping Stone Lodge. The house was very well equipped for cooking for large groups and had many extras - lots of lawn chairs, outside bean bag game, life jackets, board games, etc. We enjoyed many games of ping pong, fishing on the lake, board games, campfires, meals together and just being able to be in one place together. We would all highly recommend this place to anyone. Thanks so much Dan and Lesli. You are great hosts!

Bright, Sunny and Lovely

This is the second year in a row our family has rented this cottage for a long weekend with another family. In total we have 9 people, 5 teens and four adults. There is lots of room for everyone to spread out and do their own things, as well as large enough spaces for us to come together for meals and games. In particular we appreciate that the cottage is stocked with all the necessities...enough dishes for a large group, all the kitchen gadgets we needed, towels for everyone. We also appreciate that there is lots of storage for the food and items we bring along with us. The huge front room is a lovely place to hang out with loads of light and room for everyone, and the open concept means that if you are on dish duty or cooking you can still be part of the action. The owners were helpful and easy to communicate with. We will be booking soon for next year!

Family weekend

A lovely stay with the extended family. A great time for kids and appreciate the new hot tub.Very easy process and lots to do for all three generations.
