About Kay R Petty
Dan and Kay Petty currently live in Middle Tennessee and are Realtors. Dan is a native of Shelbyville and is retired from Jostens. He works as a Realtor along side of his wife of over 43 years. Kay is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina and grew up visiting the beaches along the Carolina Coast. Kay graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with B.S. and Masters degrees. She has been a full time real estate broker specializing in farm properties for 33 years. Tybee Island reminded Dan and Kay of the small beach towns they visited as children and over the years since they were married. The charm & history of Savannah and the small town feel and comfort of Tybee Island captured their hearts many years ago. Looking toward retiring at Tybee Island in the future the couple continue to add and improve upon the cottage property that they enjoy visiting when possible. A new venture is the Boston Whaler boat that they purchased almost 3 years ago. Leaving the boat at the Tybee Marina when visiting it is just a short ride to several restaurants that have docks and Dan enjoys fishing. Their small dog Dixie Grace is beginning to enjoy the boat and really enjoys her time at the cottage. Another favorite of the Petty's is watching the sun set on the back riven and shelling at low tide.

Why Kay R Petty chose Tybee Island
Take a deep breath as you leave the beautiful city of Savannah and be prepared to allow your blood pressure drop and your mind rest. Taking Highway 80 cross over the Bull River leaving Wilmington Island. Turn your radio or stereo on and roll your windows down (leaving the air/heat on depending on the temperature and take a deep breath of "pluff mud." Allow the inland marshes to help you begin your calming process. Just before entering the city limits of Tybee Island you will cross over the Lazaretto Bridge and see the marina and shrimp boats. You are now officially on "Tybee Time." Memories at the Beach is a very short drive from this point. Continue on Hwy 80 past the post office, city hall, library and YMCA. You will also pass the IGA Market on the right and many of the Tybee local churches. At the traffic light at Stingrays Restaurant take a right and then a left on Jones Avenue. The Cottage will be on the right. If it is dark chances are the blue light will be on as well as the porch lights. Tumble out of your vehicle and stroll onto the front porch and follow your entry instructions. Your vacation begins! Whether you are on a single retreat for just one--welcome artists and authors, a reconnect trip with friends or family or downtime after a busy season, this is your place--home away from home. Visit, explore, find a new adventure or just stay inside and relax and read. It is your choice and this is the most perfect cottage to visit and enjoy what you choose to do. Please see our reviews. This cottage was previously managed by Mermaid Cottages and is now handled personally by the owners with the assistance of a local housekeeping company. Personal touches have been added and any questions are just a quick phone call away. The cottage received a Christmas gift of a new electric fireplace. Perfect to cuddle up with a good book and warm drink during our cooler months!
What makes this House unique
Enjoy sightseeing all day and retreat back to this comfy cottage. Guests rave about the location, porches and 2 separate living spaces. Walk to local restaurants, entertainment, the beach, sunsets or to fish. Bikes and golf carts are very popular. Rent from one of the local vendors or bring your own. There is a cart charging plug on the front porch. Just bring your drop cord. Compare the costs and see that a stay at the cottage with all of its amenities is a much better value than staying in several motel rooms. Plus "breakfast in" is so much easier when you have your own kitchen that you can stock as you wish with snacks and goodies. The cottage is filled with the little touches that make begin away from home comfortable and relaxing. Once a cottage visitor you will be determined to return as so many of our guests have done over the years. Enjoy being on Tybee Time and making Memories at the Beach! Visit http://www.tybee.com for local events, news and weather. We are VERY military friendly and honor our veterans and active military with 10% discount off of the per day stay regardless of the season. New to Tybee Island, we wanted a place that was walkable to the beach (3 blocks) and all the shops and restaurants that the island has to offer. This house is situated perfectly for that! With two screened porches and lots of rooms to spread out it was perfect for our family of four and our hound dog! Larger families could make this work too!
Once we made our grocery store run we never used the car again until we packed up to leave. Our only regret was we only had four nights to spend at Memories at the Beach!
How awesome is that! Thank you so much Gail and family! We always say we are just a short 5 minute or so walk to the main beach and shops and also to the back river which is our favorite place for sunsets. You have just given a wonderful testimony to that! Please return soon and hang on to those Tybee Memories!
Stayed here for a girls' trip. The proximity to the beach, shops, restaurants was great! Cute house too!
Thank you for choosing Memories for your girls trip! We love having special groups enjoy the cottage as well as families and couples just wanting a get-away.
Please plan to visit again soon!
This property has it all! Kitchen is fully stocked, had everything we needed and more!! Perfect location, short walk to everything i.e. beach, shopping, food. There were 4 adults, 2 kids and 3 dogs in our group and this property had more than enough room. Backyard is super nice and fenced for dogs which was great. Yard needed to be mowed it was really tall/long but otherwise perfect pet friendly property!!! I would definitely recommend this property and hope my husband and I can stay there again.
Thank you so much for choosing Memories at the Beach! We were happy to have you and your family. The rain has kept the mower busy and the grass a challenge. We would love to have you again and hope that you will keep lots of fond Memories!
Beautiful property close to beach, restaurants and shopping!
This was a lovely home, very spacious and comfortable. The two porches were great for cocktails in the evening and the beds we super comfortable! We come often to Tybee and we’re loved this house so much!
Thank you so very much for choosing Memories! Those porches are favorites of ours also--whether it is coffee in the mornings or cocktails and cookouts in the evenings! We try to have it as comfortable as we would as if we were staying there ourselves! Please visit again soon!
Relaxing and comfortable!
This home provided plenty of space for our family of six. The home was clean and well furnished. We prepared and ate most of our meals at the home. Kitchen had everything I needed and the local little grocery store offered a good verity. Short walk to the beach and shops. Screened in porches provided great areas to sit and chat in the evenings. Neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We loved our vacation!
Thank you again for choosing Memories at the Beach for your vacation destination on Tybee Island. We are so happy you had a great time and enjoyed your stay. Please come again soon. Enjoy those Memories!
The perfect place for our family vacation
Memories at the Beach was a very comfortable home, exactly like advertised! We were concerned that is might be a tight fit for 6 adults, but the 2 living room/den areas gave enough space for everyone to be together or get away for some alone time. The cleanliness of the house was appreciated! Rooms, furniture, bedding - everything was clean and fresh. If we vacation inTybee again, we would check for availability of this property.
Thank you so very much for staying at Memories. Your experience will help other potential guests know how well the room arrangement helps with the flow of having 2 separate living areas with T.V.s. We loved having you as guests and certainly hope that you will return soon. Treasure those Memories!
Park your vehicle and walk, bike or rent a golf cart to most all of Tybee Island. Our location is on the south end of Tybee. The main fishing pier, Marine Science Center and shops and restaurants are an easy stroll.
