About this property

Mama Bear's Cottage, Pond,Firepit & Great Wifi

A small cottage overlooking a pond and only a 3 mile drive to downtown Highlands which houses Old Edwards Inn, amazing restaurants and fabulous shopping! While not walk able due to there being no sidewalks, it's an incredibly short ride to town.

Completely renovated, this space is complete with heat and air conditioning, featuring a living area with Wi-Fi, a streaming tv and a DVD player, the kitchenette with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and sink(no oven or stove), and a bedroom with a bathroom hosting a tiled walk-in shower. In a unit attached to the cottage and reachable in just a few steps outside and down the front of the building is a room with a washer and dryer.

Outside you can find seating for two around the fire pit! Guests are more than welcome to bring their own supplies for toasting marshmallows or we can also provide a load of firewood and materials for $85(not including taxes). During the day guests can also enjoy watching the lily pads, frogs and tadpoles in the pond.

The cottage's parking and trash cans are shared with the main house but the parking area is very large and the cottage itself is separated from the main home by the pond and a footbridge with a gate between the two home's fire pit areas. Guests have access to the entire area, except for the backyard of the main house.

The large property has 3 homes. The only thing they share is the driveway. Please see aeriel photos

This area, like most of Highlands, is known to be visited by bears especially in the fall so please be sure to not leave trash or food in your vehicle and not to allow any pets off leash when outdoors.

Perfect little getaway spot in Highlands. Cute, cozy, well equipped, lush surroundings!

We felt so welcomed as soon as we drove up in the driveway. Then, we opened the door and were greeted with plenty of linens, toiletries, coffees and teas and delicious candy! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Quaint

The man with the baby, next door, gave us an unpleasant greeting. The location is challenging for a handy-capped person. Would appreciate some shades in the front room and more cooking instruments. We did have a bear encounter - off the property. (exciting) Enjoyed the stay.

Hello Richard, I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. I wanted to point out a couple of things that may help you with future stays at other properties. When it comes to handicapped accommodation it is always important to reach out to the property host because in a VRBO situation there is a broad range of accessibility because you are being welcomed into someone’s private home. This sweet little cottage does have a bridge and a stone path and a few stairs to the front door. I am always happy to help guests find appropriate properties for their needs. I was confused about a neighbor with a baby because the only people in residence were the homeowners and they don’t have a baby. Usually encounters with locals here in Highlands are friendly and kind and I can only apologize that you met anyone who wasn’t. As far as cooking supplies, we have actually provided more than what is listed in the amenities for Mama Bear. Again it is always important to check amenities for things that are important to your stay. We have provided a small frying pan and hot plate to make an egg in the morning along with a mini fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee station as stated on the listing. Mama Bear is meant to be an easy getaway, close to town but is priced for what it is and I have many more expensive properties with full kitchens. Thank you for your review and please feel free to reach out to me for assistance in finding the perfect stay for your next trip to Highlands.
