We came for our wedding anniversary, and it did not disappoint! So quiet, calm and relaxing. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, yet we were so close to Halifax. The home was immaculate, beds were comfy, and decor was beautiful. We really enjoyed the hot tub and sauna! What a nice cherry on top. Thank you! We hope to be back.

Nova Scotia Getaway

This property and hosts were amazing. Great access to many of the local beaches and coastal villages and downtown Halifax. This was our first time exploring Halifax and surrounding area and the Den of Zen was a great spot to relax after a day of site seeing. New property with all of the modern conveniences. Two King Size suites, full bathroom with spa finishes, large kitchen and lounge area and that only describes the inside. Outside there are multiple seating areas including a large deck with BBQ, fire pit, hot tub and wood fired sauna. Totally awesome is the only way to describe the property and the experience. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Den of Zen.

Amazing vacation getaway!

The property was incredible from the second we pulled in. The check-in process was great. We loved how absolutely bright, spacious and clean the entire place was. The kitchen was well supplied and the bed was very comfortable. The hosts really went above and beyond with the little added touches. From the coffee bar to the herbs and spices, really great. The outside was gorgeous! The view from the deck or inside looking out at the lake was just so peaceful and relaxing. We could not recommend this place more. Loved it!

5 Star Property!

This is a wonderful lakeside home and fantastic property! The home itself is beautiful all the way through and very clean. All amenities you need are there. Communication with the owner was very quick and thorough. We hope to come back in the summer to enjoy the propert to its full extent. Very highly recommended!

Amazing lakeside home

We stayed at this beautiful lakeside property in order to be in a quiet location close to Halifax. We really enjoyed our stay. The house had everything that we needed and the lake access was great. If possible, we plan on staying in this property again next year.

Best Place Ever!!!!

We are two couples who stayed at the Den of Zen for a full week. We have stayed in close to 60 short term rentals and this is by far the best! The space itself is immaculately clean and beautifully appointed with a mid century meets farmhouse vibe. Shelley has not missed one single item. We had everything we needed and more. The setting and the outdoor amenities are like being in paradise! We took advantage of sitting out on the dock, kayaking, sitting around the fire pit at night chatting, taking a sauna, and relaxing at the end of a long hiking day in the super clean Jacuzzi!! This was our base before starting out on fantastic day trips. Suggestions of must-do activities include Peggy‘s Cove, Polly’s Cove, High Head hiking trail, AKA, Dr. Bill Freedman‘s Nature Trail, Lunenburg, and Crystal Crescent Beach. Additionally, we went into Halifax most nights for a fabulous dinner at some of the great restaurants. We also had a spa afternoon at a spa in downtown Halifax and a day to explore/shop in nearby neighborhoods of Hydrostone and Dartmouth. Shelley could not have been a better host. Very responsive and very positive. What an experience!!! Just see for yourself. Too much to describe in words.

Relaxing cabin near the city

We had a wonderful few days on the lake. 2 of us went back into the city each day to work, the other 2 worked from the cabin. In the evenings we relaxed in the hot tub, playing board games in the cabin, or relaxing on the dock. It is a wonderful cabin and we hope to be able to go back again. I highly recommend trying this place out.

We are a private property on a serene lake with beautiful views, stunning sunsets, peace & tranquility. Enjoy a soak in the outdoor hot tub or warm up in the wood stove sauna house overlooking the lake after a nice swim or paddle board/kayak adventure around the lake. Enjoy cozy nights roasting marshmallows by the outdoor fire, dining on the beautiful back deck while BBQ'ing your favourite meal, or curling up inside by the fireplace for some boardgames, a great book, or a relaxing movie night.
